A Bit of Kissing!!!

Did that blog title catch you eye???? Well I've been kissing for the first time... stamp kissing that is :0)

Paper Smooches have released a couple of stamp sets called Kissables and they arrived in store last week so I thought I'd have a play.....
I've used the houndstooth pattern from Kissables 1 and the lovely armchair from Lawn Fawns Dad's Day which is out of stock at the moment but any solid stamp works well for this technique, I used the chair because this card is for the Masculine card challenge over at Less is More this week, don't forget we are one of the challenge sponsors this month so another good reason to join in the fun :0)

It's good to have a practice with this technique because some inks work better than others but the general rule is a light coloured ink on the solid stamp, I used SU Crumb Cake, and a darker coloured ink on the pattern, SU Early Espresso. Ink both stamps and then gently press the solid stamp onto the pattern, being careful not to slide the stamps together, seperate them and stamp the solid image onto your finished cardstock. To add depth to the chair I applied more crumb cake ink to the chair stamp with an ink dauber so I could concentrate it to the areas needing shadow and then over stamped the same image.... solid images are much easier to line-up again :0)
Do you like the sentiment..... its the fun side of cheeky!!! It's from a great new Paper Smooches set called Happy Birthday which is full of classic and fun sentiments in different fonts for you to mix and match... the sentiment above is two different stamps which meant I could arrange the placement to fit my card :0)
Here are the stamp sets I've used....

See you again next week :0)

Making your own washi tape is 'Squ'easy!!!

Hello and happy Saturday everyone... Jenny here :0)

I had better show you my card first this morning and then the title will make
sense to you!! I've used Lawn Fawns small stamp set called Make Lemonade
for a sunny card on this lovely sunny day....

I hope you can forgive the pun but I thought it worked so well for lemonade :0)

Can you see the grey chevron washi tape?... it's homemade and I thought I'd show you
how I did it with a few photos. I love the look of washi and all those coloured rolls available just
blow my mind with choices of patterns and styles!! I found a tutorial on Pinterest for making your own with double sided tape and tissue paper alongside inks and stamps of your choice so
you can customise it to your project.

By using double-sided tape you can make your washi tape as long or as wide as you want.
Simply place the length of tape you require on the shiny side of the tissue paper...you'll
notice that tissue paper has a slight sheen on one side and the other is much
more matt which is easier to stamp on.
Idea: With lots of colours of tissue paper available you don't have to stick with white either!!

Turn the tissue over but do not trim yet, this makes stamping on the tape easier.
I have used Lawn Fawns Chevron Backdrops and Basic Grey Ink from SU, it's a bit of trial and error when it comes to inks but most do dry on the tissue...heating with a heatgun is not advised!!
Tip: Pale inks will appear very light when you have taken the backing off the adhesive and also take
into consideration the strength of the background colour your attaching the washi too.

Continue with the pattern until you are happy with the design and then when the ink is
dry turn the tissue back over to trim. I have used a ruler and sharp craft knife but if you have a
steady hand, scissors work well too as you can use the edge of the tape as a guide to
butt the blade against.... of course you could cut it into thinner strips if you want to as well :0)
I've also shown in the photo that it is easy to tear the tape even with the backing still on the adhesive
to give another authentic washi look :0)

Now I only made a small strip for photography purposes but to save time you can
make longer lengths and store them for future projects too :0)

Sorry for the long post but I hope you're inspired to have a go making your
own washi tape too....another perfect way to use those small stamps, you dont have
to stick with geometric patterns :0)

You make me Smile

Morning crafty people :0).......I'm sure these weeks are getting shorter!!
I hope you have a great weekend planned and it involves a bit of crafting too :0)

Today I have a card to show you that mixes a few new and old Lawn Fawn stamps to make a new image.....

I couldn't wait to get the new stamp set called Dad's Day because I just wanted to use it with the spectacles from Clear to See but where to find a nose from??? After a search through the sets I thought one of the pears from Silly Valentine would be the perfect shape!!
I part inked it and stamped it first, then masked it with a Post It note so I could stamp the glasses and moustache. The bottom of the pear made a perfect bottom lip and a dot from Gnome Sweet Gnome for the eyes.

I had fun stamping out the background using the stitched border from Belinda's Borders.... by turning the stamp with each impression you can make it look like saddle stitched ribbon!!..... and the sentiment is from Hello Friend.

I think he looks rather fun... hope you do too  :0)
