Chilly chums

Hello.
I thought i had better get started on some Christmas cards as we are now into November.
I have used Paper smooches Chilly chums set.
I started by making the background with distress ink then heat embossed some snowflakes from the set
The snowy panel at the bottom of the card is actually glitter card .
My camera didn't want to show you that though lol.
I stamped each of the characters in archival black ink then coloured using inktense pencils and water.
That was the first time i have tried them and would recommend them ....although i still need some practise :)
The sentiment is also from Paper smooches and is in the Joyful greetings set.
If you are looking for Christmas stamps Louise has made a special section in the shop just for it HERE.
Thanks for looking.

A Foxy shaker card

Hello!
Tomorrow is my eldest daughter's 8th Birthday, and so there was much hinting at what sort of card she wanted. The main thing was that it needs to contain a fox,her most favorite of all animals. This is great as we have a few sets of stamps with foxes on. I went with Paper Smooches Chilly Chums in the end,as she is a very cute fox.  I decided to try making a shaker card using old packaging (when you are a hoarder crafter, you tend to keep all kinds of packaging, don't you?) ,a simple enough process unless of course you are rubbish with measurements like me. So below is the method I used based largely on guess work, and loosely on exact ruler measurements. Ladies and gentlemen,I give you.....THE FOXY SHAKER!

The process....
Measure the shape you are inserting and cut a cavity to fit.

When you are happy with your fit, work on the shape of your card.

Cut a piece of cardstock for your base. Start arranging all the pieces until you are happy with the position. Keep checking that they all fit in the 'view box' of your packaging.

Once happy with the position and fit, glue eveything in place. Bear in mind some shaken items might get stuck onto things like grass etc.so try to keep it flat!

If you are adding a paper piece to the front of your card,do so now

I left a wide margin on mine to neaten the edges around the cavity. This will narrow the space,so check it all still fits well!

Apply tape to all the areas you want stuck on the inside of the view box card, and glue the view box into place. Put the sprinkles inside the viewbox and lay the backing card with your picture onto the strips.

Voila! A 3D shaker card fit for a fox obsessed birthday girl!

Hope you could follow that!

Making Spirits Bright!!

Hello there... hope this Monday finds you feeling bright or do you feel more like this chap on todays card???

Yep, I'm sharing my DT card for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge with you and this week is a great sketch to inspire your creativity.
I love the expression on this chubby walrus's face .... definitely one I can associate with over the Christmas period, so I had to go with irony and pair him up with this sentiment from Joyful Greetings.

Wrapping the lights around him mean't some fiddly cutting but the pop of glossy colour really is worth while. To tame the twine into behaving how you want it too, try the trick of rubbing on Claudine Helmuth Studio Matt medium with your fingers before shaping and twisting the loops and leave it to dry on a non stick craft sheet.

Stamps used : Chilly Chums, All Yule Need, Joyful Greetings and Shadows.

So if your curious to see this weeks sketch, hop over to the PS Sparks blog and play along with us :0)

Thanks for stopping by, see you next Monday with some Lawn Fawn inspiration!!

Exploring a Hot Spot!!

Hello there...

As the title suggests I decided to have a play with the Paper Smooches
Hot Spots large base die that is available in the store.

Hot Spots Large Base Die

It's actually a versatile shape with many creative uses and you can let your
imagination run with it :0) I find the easiest thing to do is cut out the pieces in scrap card
so you can play with the shapes and stamps to generate some sparks of creativity.

I don't know about you but when I was a child I used to love, and still do, a new pack of coloured pencils or crayons... all those rainbow colours and sharpened points, not to mention the lovely smell so seeing the window in the larger die, I set about stamping the pencils from I Heart Art in a rainbow of colours to make a teacher thanks card. You can use the same die for the acetate and base layer and just turn them upside down so the window is hidden at the base of the box.
I added shading to the pencils with coloursoft pencils so they look more 3 dimensional and cut them out all together in one piece :0)

I also wanted to use the zig zag shapes in the smaller die... these little pieces can be so fun to play with!!

By cutting the panel in three different blues I could make this pattern, the zig-zags fit snugly together and each die cut actually gives you 5 strips by snipping out the remaining two zig-zags from the panel when three have been removed.... neat eh??!!
I needed to make a card with a specific request for a seal on it and I thought this pattern would make great looking water in an ice hole for Mr Seal... I think he looks quite happy perched there :0)

Has that got you thinking?? I have a couple more ideas that I want to turn into cards this week to show you next Saturday, hope to see you then !!

Lets Chill Out

Good Morning, ...Jenny here :0)

I hope you've got your sunglasses on because the card I'm sharing
today is bright and summery!!

I thought I'd blast away those cold days with a hot pink card base for my tropical card :0)
Bold Blooms
The palm trees have been made using a couple of elements from the
Paper Smooches Bold Blooms set.... I think they are a pretty good shape for them :0)
The other sets I've used are Get outta Town and Chilly Chums for the sentiment... ironic or what!!??

Have you seen the February Paper Smooches are now in store?...
Check them out here

A Chilly Milk Carton

Morning everyone... Jenny here :0)

At Christmas time I like to make fun packaging for sweet treats so my son
can give them out at the end of term to his classmates and teachers.

In my quest to find a suitable design and shape I decided to use the
Paper Smooches Chilly Chums stamp set to decorate a milk carton
to contain Frosty Snowballs... or sugar coated chocolate balls to you and I :0)

I cut the milk carton on my cricut expression using Tags, Bags, Boxes and more 2
and then stamped the snowy sky using Lawn Fawn's Let it Snow whilst the box was still flat.

The Chilly Chums are stamped and coloured with Promarkers before cutting them out
and sitting them in the snowy landscape... the trees are from Warm Hearts
and the sentiment from Freezy Fellas :0)

To close the box I punched two holes and then tied a ribbon through so it
didn't haveto be torn open.

I think the chilly chums look rather cute and lend themselves quite well to
fun packaging....especially at Christmas time :0)

Thanks for looking and hope you have some crafty time this weekend.

Greetings of the season

Hello.
Another Christmas card from me today.
I used paper smooches Chilly chums and Joyful greetings sets.
I ripped some white card to make the snow drifts and added some stickles to the edges.
The walrus? is coloured with Copics.
I used a dies from Wplus9 for the clouds.
Thanks for looking.
