Throwback Thursday and goodbye!

Hello!
Well, this is my last blog post here for the time being,so I am treating you to a proper throwback stamp set!
It's simple,it's pretty,it's oh so easy yet effectively modern,it's Wplus9 Iconic Christmas.

See? Easy and elegant :-)
The words are from the gorgeously useful Winnie and Walter The Big,The Bold and Fun (these sets from W & W are great for project life too!)
Stamp the tree, stamp and cute out choice words, and a sequin at the top and bobs your uncle!

I hope you like it!

Right, that's it from me-Tara has an awesome new DT member lined up,you will meet her soon!
I can't wait to see her projects :-)

Happy Christmas everyone, and all the best for 2015

Throwback Thursday

Hello!
Happy nearly weekend :-D
I know some of my posts can dubiously be called 'Throwback',but todays post is TRULY a throwback. I used  the gloriously vintage Paper Smooches Chubby Chum Pals and the not so quite as vintage Think Fast to create a card one of my favourite quotes

I know,I know-its a chicken, but it could be a seagull. If you half squint. And look from a distance ;-)

He and the fries are water coloured and the packet is paper pieced and the sentiment typed with my trusty vintage typewriter. Then a little stitching around the edge in 'fry' colour to finish it off.

Right, thats all from me-Im off to fulfill this cards demand ;-)

Throwback Thursday

Hello!

You will see me every Thursday from now on,and I thought it would be nice to revisit some of the awesome older stamps, papers and dies in the shop. All the new stuff is positively drool-worthy,but we musn't forget how excited we were with previous releases ;-D

So here is my 'card'-a slightly different card this week, using some of my hoarded old packaging as its base and the gorgeous Paper Smooches Briny Blue and Surf and Turf and the sentiment from Hang Ups,out of stock at the moment, but will be back in store :-)

The packaging is that clear floppy plastic as apposed to the ridged packaging that make great shaker cards. Static does a lot of the work for you holding things in place,so there is no need for any adhesive in this type of card. All the sea folk are stamped and painted onto watercolour card, using the colour palette. I stamped, coloured and cut everything I thought I would use and arranged it

Then carefully sandwiched it together and machine sewed loose rings around the outside. The jellyfish and seahorse needed a little extra anchoring,so I ran a few stitches through them, voila! Can be hung anywhere to catch the light :-)

As you know, the DT has a colour challenge this week-this scrummy colour palette

There is still time to play along with this fun colour challenge, and you can upload your submissions here

See you next week for another Throwback Thursday!

Used today-back in stock soon!:

Dream a little dream

Hello!
We have another littlie with chicken pox,so this card is shockingly CAS for me :-o

I used the scrummy little Lawn Fawn Dream set and dies-I have so many ideas for this set....now need a clean bill of health for the children so I can ferret myself away and create! But for now, here is my card

The feathers are cut from vellum that I then stained with alcohol inks. I used a Paper Smooches stamp bent into a curve for the dreamcatchers base and coloured in with Prisma pencils. The gold thread is from Lawn Fawns gold twine stripped down and the sequins are Lawn Fawn also. The tag is from Lawn Fawn's Tag,You're it! die (another must have!) and popped up on pop dots. Here, have a sidey view

I hope you like it! There are lots and lots of VERY exciting things arriving soon in the store-be sure to keep popping back and 'liking' the FaceBook page and join the mailing list to keep on top of the current ranges and grab those goodies as soon as they appear in the shop ;-)

What a star!

Hello!
Happy afternoon to you all,I hope the sun is shining for you-I love the early Spring (well, nearly Spring) sun,but it does show up the Winter neglect on your windows ;-)
Anyhoo, here is today's card. We have a flurry of tiny 3 and  4 year old's Birthdays coming up,so one can never have too many cards on stand-by ;-)

I cut ballet dog (totally NOT a ballet dog,but her pointy toes lend themselves perfectly to a ballerina,no?) from brown cardstock and detailed her with copics, putting a blob of Glossy Accents on her nose for a little sheen. Her tutu has a band of Stickles,to keep it neat (ferociously fiddly to make a minuscule tutu for a cardboard dog...the things you find yourself doing on a Saturday afternoon,eh?!) Here, have a close up:

I used my old Birthday favorite Critters at the Dog Park from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Lucky Stars (currently OOS )

I hope you like it :-)

Frankly,My dear...

Hello!
Wow,we are having April weather over here in sunny/showery Cambridgeshire! Here's hoping for some rainbows as pretty as Girl Friday Lydia yesterdays card :-)

Sorry for the lunchtime post-toddler mayhem reined supreme this morning, but it has gone quiet now (I don't know whether to celebrate or panic-toddler silence is not usually a good sign lol ;-) ) But here is my Saturday card. Celebrating the arrival of the new release and re-stocks of gorgeous CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, here is a slightly older set,but one of my absolute faves-Frankly.

As a non naturally CAS girl,I went for a chalkboard look and finished the card with my new best friend die,the Avery Elle Embellish It Flower and a scrap of Lawn Fawn twine

Hope you like it,and go have a look at those lush CAS-ual Fridays stamps, they are super versatile.

Thank you

Happy nearly New Years!
I hope you all had a great Christmas with lots of crafty goodies under the tree :-)

My card today is for the inevitable endless task that always comes after Christmas-the Thank You card. Ever the bane of my childhood, stamping these make things so much more fun ;-)

I used the glorious Flourishes Italian Garden set for this card, stamped onto watercolour paper with archival ink which I heat set. You might need a magnifying glass to paint in some of the leaves on the Rosemary bush! But it looks just gorgeous when watercoloured, don't you think?  Grab your Flourishes sets while you can when the shop re-opens,as they are stopping their wholesale programme,so will only be available from Make The Day Special in limited quantities!

The sentiment comes from the ultra useful Paper Smooches Salutations set.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Jar of Thanks

Hello!

Firstly, today is the last day of the Mama Elephant pre-orders. Stock will be in limited quantities when it arrives,so this is the perfect chance to make sure you get the sets you want. Pre-orders close tonight-hurry to the store!

Back to todays card :-)
I had one of those moments where you go to do something completely unrelated to crafting, spot a stamp set peeking out of the chaos in the craft room and you just HAVE to have a fiddle. This is the first time I have opened Briny Blue-I LOVE these little fishy guys! So many possibilities jumped into my head when I saw this set-I am smitten :-)

I teamed Briny Blue up with Crystal Clear 1 dies,and cut a piece of vellum with Crystal Clear 2 dies to make the 'water'.

Hope you like it :-)

Strawberries and Oreos for breakfast

Hello!
Today's card is made with a whole lotta joy at finally getting this set from Wplus9 :-)
I have been SO excited to get playing with it and this was the first thing I did (still feeling my way around my newly acquired love of CAS-but I took the plunge with this one...that is a LOT of white space! :-o  )
The matching dies line up beautifully with lots of options, even including two versions of the cookies,so you can have them facing one way or the other-genius!
I stamped the milk container onto the card, then another onto vellum and embossed this with white, tucking the straw between the two layers.
Hope you like it!

And a close up...

Thats all from me for now :-)
Grab yourself some milk and cookies,go on-you know you want to ;-)

Layers of Lawn Fawn

Hello!
Keeping you on your toes again today-its Lou here!

Today's card is a Lawn Fawn one, using the Bright Side Petite Paper Pad and Grand Greetings  sentiment set (SUCH a useful set!),plus a handmade flower and a bit of ribbon.

It is surprisingly easy to do-I cut four circles out from each of the papers I wanted to use, using a 3/4 inch circle punch. The hardest part is lining up that first line, but once you have them in place, the rest are easy peasy. Just glue the smallest bit at the top of the circle, then you can slot all the other circles underneath. Trim any overhangs and in between each circle along the bottom and add ribbon across the top and flower or any other embellishment and add your sentiment.
I love the look of this card as it seems to appeal to all ages-my 3 and 7 year olds went mad over it,each requesting one (Oh great!) and my Mum and her friends love it too. So I can declare with conviction that Lawn Fawn papers are universally appealing ;-)
I hope you give this technique a try-it is great fun :-)
