Sparkly Christmas shaker card.

Hello.
I'm loving these Christmas stamps from Newtons nook  and wanted to get some  more  cards made using them.
I had already planned a shaker card although this one changed a bit as i saw the inky paws challenge on the Newtons nook blog and change to kraft.
You have time to order and play along :)

Its a basic shaker card kept simple in design.
I started my card by adding stripe of glitter tape to my kraft card base.
I the cut my frame using lawn fawn stitched rectangles and stamped the snowflake from Newtons Christmas cuddles in gold ink.

I had made the sky/snowy background using distress inks and added the fussy cut image before putting all the elements together.
The image is coloured with copics.

Chase Your Dreams

Hello fellow crafters!

For today's card I wanted something bright and cheerful. Also, I haven't played with my Newton's Nook stamps nearly enough, so they had to be thrown in the mix.

I started by coloring the super cute cat with my Copics, then added clear Wink Of Stella to the balloon to give it some sparkle. It's also easy to fuzzy cut these stamps; if you leave a white border, it goes rather fast. For the background I used the Landscape Trio dies by Mama Elephant. Who doesn't love stitched borders? Some careful sponging with Distress Ink and voilĂ  - a sky!

Hint: I cut the same scalloped rectangle shape that the front panel is in from a piece of thin copy paper and then glued the cut up cloud panel on that paper, then adhered that to the card front. I didn't want to start puzzling the clouds together on the card itself because I was worried I might not get the alignment right (knowing myself, it would have been catastrophic) so I used that little trick.

As a sentiment, I picked one of the beautiful sayings from Altenew. I wanted it to dangle from the cat's balloon, but it was too big. I simply masked off the part I didn't need with a post it, stamped the first part onto the tag and the other part inside. The Wplus9 Timeless Tags 2 fit perfectly here. Some Judikins Iridescent embossing powder on top of the Versafine pigment ink and - sparkle!

The other half of the sentiment was stamped inside of the card. I thought that would be fun for the recipient: super funny card front and a very encouraging sentiment once opened up. Just a cute fit with the cat hanging on to the balloon, don't you think? :)

I mounted the little cat with foam squares to add dimension, fiddled a really long time with the twine to make it look good and spent ages to "properly" sprinkle my sequins across the card. I never get the "random" placement right the first time and rearrange my elements to make them look great. Not sure I always succeed, but it's fun :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Colours!

I have a necklace which is just lots of buttons attached together and I call it my happy necklace.
So bright and sunny, I'm always asked if I've made it and where I got it from. Wearing it just makes me feel happy!
These colours on the card are like that. How could you not smile when surrounded by the rainbow of tones?!
I've just used two Paper Smooches sets (Design Motifs & Cyber Cafe) and the squiggle stamp is from Newton's Nook (Love a La Carte). Mixing and matching is the best way of getting an unique look
I decided the stripes were too heavy & so cut up the card to create a tag..
I should have left well alone!!
Have you ever wished you'd left things as they were?!!

Well, I'll see you next week.. I've still some teachers cards to finish- we've not broken up from school yet!

For dad

Hello
With fathers day coming soon i thought id better get moving on some cards.
I have used Winston from Newtons nook, he is coloured with copics.
As all my newtons set are birthday themed i had to improvise with the sentiment.
The sentiment is made using parts of other sentiments from Newtons birthday bash.
I used Lawn fawn Quinns alpha dies alpha dies for the dad word and cut using some wood effect vinyl.

3D Tweeting!

Hi! Thought I'd do a little 3D card. I'm using the Newton's Nook set 'Tweet Talk'
It's hard to see that the top bird is actually coming out from the card. The way I've bent it means that it could still be folded up and popped into an envelope; it's kind of a step shape or straighter 'z'. The other birds and sentiment are simply attached to thin strips of acetate, adhered to the frame shape & then the frame is added to the card using 3D foam pads.
The background paper is the Hello Sunshine 'Lawn Fawn' paper pad which should be back in stock in soon. In the meanwhile, check out the rest of the Newton's Nook designs here
Hope you've enjoyed something a little different! I'm flying off to do some more crafting..hard life!!

See you next Tuesday!

Newton and Winston

Hello.
I have three cards today using Newton and Winston from Newtons Nook.
I have gone for three different looks.
First up is a shaped card and i used Newtons birthday bash.
I coloured Newton with pro markers and for  the presents i stamped onto lots of scraps of patterned paper i had on my table before fussy cutting.

For my next card we have Winstons birthday
Winston is coloured with copics.

Card number three...And i used Newtons antics.
This time i coloured newton with my zig pens and almost everything was coloured with them and a pen spritzer.
I kept it very simple and its only one layer.

Thanks for looking.

Cats and a Challenge

So, as a huge cat fan (mine is currently purring at my feet whilst I type) it probably comes as no great surprise that my cards today feature our newly arrived friend Newton!

I used the new Birthday Bash set along with the original Newton's Antics which is now back in stock after selling out so quickly last time.  I thought the perfect day for any cat would be playing in bags and boxes before having some dinner and nice nap - that's what mine loves anyhow!   So I made a little scene by masking off the cat in the box before stamping the others over him to get them behind.  Just simple pencil colouring on kraft - one of my favourite colouring styles.  I added a pop of colour by stamping the sentiment on pink and adding a strip of it behind the image panel for balance and finishing with some sparkly pink dash lines.

Also this week, we thought it might be fun to take a little inspiration from the colours in this design seeds image http://blog.design-seeds.com/2014/03/14/flora-brushstrokes-7/
We thought it would be interesting and fun to see how each of us on the DT took the inspiration and to see what could do with the colours, so each day this week you'll see a different take and here's mine with a little more Newton as you can never have too many cats.....

All the colours are there honest - but in a very CAS way as that is my style really.  I got a new toy this week though - a colour spritzer - so I  added the blue and green using that with a copic marker and a memory box stencil.  This time I pieced Newton together using grey card and layered up the present and his paws with more bits of card.

What we thought might make it even more fun would be to open it up to all of you to join us with your take on the same colours (plus you can use neutrals too - white, cream, grey, black and kraft).   All you have to do to join us is use stamps from our store and add your link below - other than that, anything goes as its just for fun.
