Watercolours

I've been busy this week helping to organise our school fair that's happening next week so only had time to make a quick card (well, two quick cards) today.

I've dragged out my neglected Marvy pens and used them to ink up the flower stamp from Unity's Moment's In Bloom kit before spritzing with water and stamping on to watercolour paper.

I also used the pens to ink the sentiment stamps from Unity's The Right Words and Life Becoming but stamped these without spritzing.

As always, thanks for visiting

More Unity tags

I have a stack of tags already coloured with either Dylusions inks or distress inks and turned to those today to make a couple of Unity stamps tags.

The main tag was coloured with Dylusions inks and then the sentiment from Bold Insight was stamped using grey Memento ink. The dragonfly from the same set was stamped on to card coloured with distress inks before being cut out and adhered to the tag.

This second tag is slightly smaller but made the same way. The sentiment is from Moments in Bloom and the flowers are from Bold Insight. I added a tiny rhinestone to the centres.

As always, thanks for visiting!

A Unity picnic layout

Hi from Jo!

I have a layout to show you today which uses various Unity stamps:

I used some leaves and foliage stamps on the journalling block and at the bottom of the layout from the Unity  kits Moments in Bloom and Naturally You and stamped these using Versamagic chalk ink.

I also used a couple of sentiment stamps from Life Becoming which I stamped straight on to the photos using Stazon ink.

Thanks for visiting!!

Another journal page

I've been busy using Unity stamps to make another journal page. This one is in a lovely hardback book I found in a charity shop.

I prepared the background using gesso and acrylic paint and then used stamps from Unity store kits - "Moments in Bloom" and "Naturally You" available in the shop here some of which I coloured with Faber Castell pens and some I left.

The large quote is one from the Quote Bundle Pack and the "live a good life" stamp is from the "Life Becoming" kit also available in the shop.

Materials used:
old hardback book
Unity stamps (as above), black Versafine ink
Claudine Hellmuth gesso,
acrylic paints, Faber Castell Big Brush pens

Art journalling with Unity

Today I've been playing in a new journal using Unity stamps.

I made the background using Dylusions inks and then randomly stamped using Versamagic chalk inks and the grid stamp from Unity's "Moments in Bloom" store kit available in the shop here and the Unity/Christy Tomlinson stamp "tattered chicken wire" available in the shop here.

After leaving this to dry I then used a floral stamp from the Unity "Quiet Essence" store kit (again in the shop here) and stamped this around the edges using black Versafine ink before colouring in using Prismacolor pencils.

I stamped the sentiment from the Quote Bundle Pack again using Versafine ink and coloured the flowers using pencils again.

The art doll was a digital that I purchased from Etsy seller Sabrina.

Materials used:
Dylusions inks, Versamagic inks, Versafine ink
Unity stamps (as above)
Prismacolor pencils, white Signo pen
digital art doll (as above)

At Last!!!!!

Hi there....

I am so glad to be back. Thank you Emily for being so understanding on my lack of blog posts...Hopefully I'll be able to share more regularly now.
I have a Card and Tag to show you today....As ever I didn't know quite which one of my few stamps to use..so I just took my box of Unity stamps out and decided to play with the first one I could lay my hands on..Luckily it was one that Emily has in stock, one of my favourites too..
A Unity store kit..'Moments In Bloom'...
My Tag first of all.....Again I thought I'd just reach behind me and chose some ink pads....My Adirondak were there so I picked about 4 colours. I used my Black Versafine (as ever) to stamp the flower and clear embossed. The other 2 leaves were stamped with Adirondak  and also clear embossed. I then just coloured the tag with the other ink colours and water splattered. My little 'flowers' are just 2 sizes of circle punches cut from decorative paper, sprayed with a bit of glitter spray and scrunched. The Butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch.
I wanted to show how the same stamp set can look different so I made a little card..
I used my Distress stains to colour the flower stamp (love how this gives a water colour effect) and a variegated Green ink pad for the sentiment.
Thanks for looking, I hope to be back very soon...

Every Day....

is a fresh beginning......
I have a couple of cards to show you today.....the first one uses the Websters Pages 'Moments' stamps available from the lovely Emily here
I thought I would dust off the embossing folders that I seemed to have had for ages and actually use them! I coloured it with Pearlescent Chalks for a soft look.....The sentiment is stamped with one of my Distress Inks and clear embossed. All that was needed then was some ribbon and some punched Butterflies..
My 2nd card uses the 'Moments In Bloom' store kit, again available from Emily..here
I used a smaller embossing folder from the same set and coloured in with Chalks again...then just a bit of ribbon and stick on jewels.

Forgive the photos...I managed to take the a photo of a White card on a White background....One day I will learn...
I really enjoyed making these unusually (for me!!) quick and clean looking cards..hope you like them too.
Thanks for looking and I'll see you soon..

Oh and I meant to say I created both these cards from 1 sheet of A4 White card, quite like the different sizes this makes.

3 simply adorable kids.... (& a reminder)

Today I have a layout to share with you using various Unity stamps. I used thick watercolour paper as a base and used Neocolor II watercolour crayons to create the coloured background.

The "it's all worth it" stamp is from the Unity set "One Precious Life" (here).

The fern stamp is from the Unity set "Moments in Bloom" (here).

The "blessings" stamp is from the Unity set "The Right Words" (here).

The faux stitching is from the Unity set "Key to Joy" (here)

The "simply adorable" and butterfly are from  old Unity sets.

Materials used:
watercolour paper, Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons and watercolour pencils, black fineliner
black Stazon ink, black Versafine ink, Unity stamps (as above)

Stamps are so versatile!!!

No card, layout or canvas for me to share with you today as I seem to have spent all week "helping" my 9 year old son with his homework....making a poster of a habitat - in this case a woodland habitat.

I am going to share this project with you though as "we" used so many stamps on it LOL!! We made it by joining 4 sheets of plain white 12" x 12" cardstock together and then used chalks to make a coloured background before drawing on the trees and colouring them.

The leaves were all stamped using the leafy stamp from  Unity's Naturally You kit available here and another leaf stamp.

We stamped the fungi from Unity's Naturally You kit  straight on to the poster and coloured them with Marvy markers. The snail from the same kit was stamped on to shrink plastic and coloured with chalks before heating.

We also used the bracken stamp from Unity's Moments in Bloom kit available here to stamp in clumps at the base of the trees and Unity's Insightful Meadows set to stamp in the left foreground.

Well, hopefully the teacher will approve and I'll be back next week with something that's not homework! As always, thanks for visiting!!

A Quote canvas.....

Having recently seen the gorgeous work of Christy Tomlinson I felt inspired to have a go at a canvas using some of Christy's techniques but in my style. I usually like all my craft to look "clean" so this was a bit of a challenge but one that I enjoyed and U'm quite pleased with the result.

I used a 6" x 4" board canvas which I stuck patterned paper on to and then used gesso to cover it. I then stamped the sentiment from Unity's Quote Bundle Pack using black Versafine ink. I also used the grid stamp from the Unity store kit - Moments In Bloom to stamp randomly over the canvas.

I added rub-ons, handmade bunting and some puffy stickers and then used a black fineliner pen to highlight elements.

Materials used:
Canvas, My Mind's Eye papers
Unity stamps (as above), black Versafine ink, black Letraset pen, green Versamagic chalk ink
Rub-ons: Heidi Grace, American Crafts, Creative Imaginations
Making Memories puffy stickers
twine

Birdy tag

I have a tag to share with you today using the 3 Unity store kits - Moments in Bloom, Quiet Essence and Life Becoming.

I covered the tag using papers before stamping the quote stamp from "Moments in Bloom" and part of the background stamp from "Quiet Essence".

I stamped the bird from "Life Becoming" on to shrink plastic using Stazon ink and then added them to the tag. Lace, ribbons and some roses cut from patterned paper were then added as final embellishments.

Materials used:
cardstock, Crate Paper Portrait papers
Unity stamps (as above), Versafine ink, Stazon ink, shrink plastic
lace, ribbon

Life is Full of Beauty

I have made another atc for  my collection!  This time I have used stamps from the Moments in Bloom set by Unity, available here.  I used Crushed Olive Distress Ink for the background of the atc and stamped various stamps from the set to make the background and main image, using Adirondack Rust and Memento Olive inks.  I edged the atc with a Copic pen.  This could of course be used as a topper for a card at a later date too!

Materials
Stamps - Unity
Inks - Distress Inks, Memento, Adirondack, Copic
Other - Metallic nailheads

Two tags

I recieved the new Unity May Store kit today and I'm in love already!

I used one of the stamps from the "Moments in Bloom" kit to make 2 different tags shown below. For the first one I used alcohol inks on glossy cardstock before stamping the image using Archival ink:

I then used the same stamp again to make the second tag. I stamped the image first using Versamark ink before embossing it with clear embossing powder. I then coloured the tag using various distress inks before sewing along the edge and ironing the image to remove the embossing powder. The grid stamp from the kit was stamped randomly in chalk ink and then the sentiment stamped ,again, using chalk ink. I then added ribbon and a brad embellishment.

Thanks for visiting the blog and don't forget that all stamps featured can be bought in the shop!
(edited to add) The full May kit has currently sold out but if you contact Emily she may be able to order some more (but you'll need to be quick!).
