Alone Architect

Dark grooves featuring various vocalists, created by the bassist of the now-defunct progressive rock group Pulse Ultra.  I was a huge fan of Pulse Ultra (+ Chronicles of Israfel) so discovering this project has me really stoked.

Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni / Free Tibet - "Black Vale"

I've been a Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni fan since I first stumbled upon their work via the now defunct Space Black Metal blog. Moving from obvious metal tendencies to full blown electronic affairs in the realms of ambient and drone, Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni is but one of many remarkable Russian artists crafting truly incredible ambient music. With "Black Vale" we see Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni teaming up with Free Tibet, an artist I'm otherwise unfamiliar with, for a huge cosmic cavern of deep and dark ambient of the highest most lush caliber  Beguiling and subtly menacing, "Black Vale" is an exercise in the most far reaches of dark ambient music. A veritable black hole represented in, ultimately, 2 movements expressed from 2 different entities. Essential for all ambient, drone, and noise fans.

iampervert - in love with an undine

Photobucket

The man known as The Captain Kirk on LSD Experience, project jammed full of in your face aggressiveness and political correctness destroying themes, goes a new route with Iampervert. Instead of pop sized chip-grind crazy-ness you receive six to eight minute odysseys spelunking through murky emotion mines inhabited by stirring melodies and endearing progressions. It is hard to pigeonhole Iampervert with a genre tag. Sirona-Records describes it as "Witch Wave" and "Dark Psychedelic". Another suiting description would be "Power Ballads for Time Traveling Goth Ravers (who are into neo-classical synth punk)". Listen and find your own wacky description!

Gatekeeper - EXO Game

Cult retro electronic outfit Gatekeeper have recently released their epic new album EXO, and now you can experience the album in game form thanks to this website which launched it today! From the gameplay walkthrough shown below, this appears to be an impressive homage to both the future and what the past has donated to the present. The imagery reminds me of a more organic Blade Runner environment, with aesthetics that harken to the 90's both visually and musically, in a highly enjoyable form.

ehafh - age of narcissistic self adoration

Photobucket

The mighty ehafh finally graces the masses with another release! The man behind the fantastic label Dramacore, frequent Sickmode collaborator and one of the people behind the old school and revolutionary IRK MEDIA. Using only a Octave Cat analog synthesizer and a computer to record it. This is analog ambient at its purest. No digital manipulation. Pure analog sexiness. Thanks to Flaccid Plastic Records and Din Gle for putting this out. Now the rest of the world can see what my Chicago buddy ehafh has been holding down these past couple years. You won't be disappointed!

Ohotniki Za Golovami - Insect Riot

2 track ep from Ohotniki Za Golovami on the consistently awesome net label, Sirona Records. This release is tagged as industrial and ambient, but i dont know if its right to pigeon hole it as such. Dark grooves and murky, distorted vocals. A blockbuster zombie movie soundtrack as merry-go-round jingle.

[TDT011] Manananggal - “Effete Aperture”

Pitch black rainy day sleeping under an idling car near the train tracks where a freight train idles. This is Manananggal sound.

[Siro068] Ahtictap - Orion

The opening piano piece instantly sets the mood. Melancholic and dreamy gradually growing distracting like looking out the window at noon and finding pitch darkness. Smashed beats do the gallop noir, comical and menacing. Don't look back out the window.

Trans Atlantic Rage/Zumul - Split

Photobucket

I got this release in cd form a few months ago and never really listened to it. A couple weeks ago i put it in the cd player to listen while i played some Mana Khemia 2 and the cd hasnt really left the player since. Whether it be the soundtrack to your solo nerd night or a pleasant evening constitutional, this album is a relaxing compliment. Soundscapes pulled from the ocean that is our Universe. The art does a really good job explaining through sight what you're ears will soon learn. Stick it in, flop on the couch, and buckle in. You might just float away.

VA - Wheel of Fortune #3

cover art

Brand new compilation from Kermesse Records. the music ranges from harsh noise, drone, dark ambient, experimental, and much more. Tooth_Eye( me :) ) provides track #2. Other artists include To-Bo, Playing with Nuns, Ten-0, Balogh, and many more. Its definitely a listen to compliment idle contemplation. I often enjoy riding the train while listening or Burning incense at night and read some good ole' H.P. Lovecraft. Regardless how you choose to listen, it should be a very enjoyable experience!
