Kamikaze Deadboy - Thanatophobia
This 5-track valentine's day record release by UK auteur Kamikaze Deadboy is lush with vibe. Straightforward and fun, this melded-genre record really connected with me from second one. It feels instantly classic, like it's been in your library for years- and brings you a delightful mix of film-score instrumental sounds, battle record tier samples, glitchy melody bits and a smattering of head-nodding hip-hop/triphop esque beats. The percussion is just perfectly understated, complementing the melodic aspects- and the vibes are just non-stop; holy shit- just so wonderfully bouncy and groovy. I dare you to listen to it just once- and then tell me about it so I can ridicule you to anyone who will listen.
It's a really pleasant ill-scape journey through the mind of Kamikaze Db, skipping out on the pretentious wankery a lot of artists like to put into their work- the record doesn't need to tell you it's deep- it just delivers you a quick, full listen that begs you to download it and play it on loop. I can't get enough.

The Scene of the Shining Sun by JDSY
The scene of the Shining Sun is the newest release by Ghostly Intl. artist JDSY. The album's title track is reminiscent of early Beck while also maintaining its own unique flavor and ethereal elements throughout all the productions. Both eerie and soothing, this album is a good way to start off your week.

A sonic "post-chiptune" experiment by an unsung chiptune master (Auxcide), this album rules, kicks ass, slays, destroys, annihilates, regenerates and recreates the universe in 4 short tracks. And then it does it again, in LSDJ.

The Honorable Worm - THE ROYAL ROAD
Just over a year has passed since Chad Marine (recording as The Honorable Worm since 1997) released his drone-folk odyssey 'Consider the bees.' but it may as well have been a lifetime ago. Since then, he and his wife have (in addition to getting married) walked the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain, relocated from Virginia to Oregon, and wandered the narrow streets of Old Jerusalem—all with camera and recorder in hand. They call it their “year of pilgrimage.” It is only natural, then, that the new Honorable Worm album, 'The Royal Road,' should be a work of overcoming distances: distances in space, time, and spirit. The song cycle may look short on paper, but the ground covered is vast and ever-changing. In keeping with the nature of travel, the music here is joined not so much by a common “sound” (genres touched upon include psychedelic, folk, lo-fi, ambient, avant-pop, field recordings, etc.) as by the simple fact that they are all stops along the same road, the Royal Road!

ECHOTOMB - Error To The Throne LP
A tight album by Tennessee breakcore artist echotomb, whom I saw open for Captain Ahab in Johnson City, TN last year. A cool full length release with lots of interesting experimentation and extreme beat science!

Throne Of Legions - 2011 EP
A bit more melodic and straight forward than I generally opt for, but I find myself still pretty pleased with these guys. A properly produced EP of death metal with melodic elements and some black metal tones here and there. 'Nuff good musicianship, choice growl from the vocalist, sick logo. Nothing earth shattering, but definitely enjoyable if you like metal - especially of the death variety.
