Barrowlands - "Demo 2012"

Portland's own Barrowlands with their demo from this year, offering up a healthy slab of Cascadian black metal that rounds out their sound with addition of a cello player. Quite epic and atmospheric at times, brutal and relentless at others. If you're into Wolves In The Throne Room, Fell Voices, Agalloch, Ash Borer, and the like - then this one has your name all over it.

The Eye Unclouded - "Tongues Like Mazes"

Is it black metal? I suppose so. It's definitely "progressive metal", or whatever the kids are calling it, too. There's a good amount of that ambient/drone metal flavor, to be certain. There's no vocals, but really you don't need or even want any on this one. Progressive ambient post instrumental black technical metal? Ubetcha.

Raw recordings of really incredible sort of progressive black metal right here, folks. It almost sounds like you're right there in the dusty, spider web infested, only candlelit basement while they are playing. Except not quite as loud.. Unless you turn your home system up real loud after you download this. Which you should. One of the cooler and more original logos in black metal lately, as well.
