My Time to Craft DT #297 Fairies

Image
Good morning, all! I hope you're having a great weekend! My daughter and her Young Man are staying with us this weekend. Sacha's birthday is on the 23rd of June - Midsummer's Eve. We named her 'Helena' when she was born, partly after my Mum, whose name was Helen, and partly after one of the characters in Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer's Night's Dream.' Then, when she began learning Russian at Secondary School she had to choose a Russian name, and went for 'Sacha.' She preferred that to 'Helena' and changed her name - it took me several years to get used to it! But enough of this, you want to know what the new challenge is at My Time to Craft . Our theme is Fairies which is very appropriate, since there are a lot of fairies in 'A Midsummer's Night's Dream'! I used an adorable image from Lili of the Valley , this is one of their cute fairies, but sadly she is no longer available. However, there are loads of oth...

Is this a record?

I began this card back in January! Then I put the image and papers away 'in a safe place' which is always fatal! I only found them yesterday, so this card has taken me 3 months to make!!!!! Should I phone the Guinness Book Of Records?! Wot a plonker! The image is Silver Fairy from Whimsy Stamps - I love her wings, they cry out for lots of lovely glitter! The papers are from Funky Hand I think. Flowers, lace and the gold corner are from stash. I adapted one of the sketches on Dawny P's blog, she has several and they are all nice and straightforward. I'm entering the challenge at Flutter By Wednesdays which this time is 'open' - ie anything goes as long as there's a fairy, butterfly or angel. I'm also entering the Sweet Stampin' Challenge where there is also an 'anything goes' theme. Also I'm entering the Paper Sundaes challenge which is 'Spring Blossoms'. There are flowers in the fairy's hair, as well as on the card! (Tha...

Dream Valley Challenge 14 - A Colour Theme.

Image
Lime, Yellow and Orange! Aren't these just gorgeous?! We had such a lot of lovely creations for our 'Distressing' Challenge last time! It's so inspiring to see so many different variations on the theme! This fortnight we're sponsored by The prize for a very lucky winner is a $10 voucher for their store. The DT was lucky enough to have some wonderful images to work with - hop over to Dream Valley and have a look at my teamies' wonderful creations! I have used Fairy Moon one of the lovely silhouette digistamps. I immediately thought of the posters by Jan Pienkowski that everyone had on their walls when I was at Uni: amazingly detailed fantasy silhouettes on backgrounds of swirling colour. So I had a go with Distress Inks (in Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey) and my mini-mister, following Tim Holtz's Youtube tutorial here . I printed the image over the top of the coloured card and cut her out with a Nestie circle die. ...

LotV and Sketch N Stash

Evening, all! I hope you're all having a good week. Here's a card for a friend who loves cute and fairies and PINK! The image is 'Candlelight' from Lili of the Valley . Their latest challenge is 'Anything Goes' which is nice and easy! The sketch is the current Sketch and Stash challenge. I used old MME papers from stash, which came with a magazine last year - I love these papers! The ribbon is also from stash, and I used a Bow-Easy to make a double bow. The leaves are a Magnolia die and the swirl is a Marianne one. The gorgeous flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts. The image is fairly new, bought a couple of months ago, and I slathered stickles in pink, magenta and gold over her wings! I'm rather pleased with the shaded effect. I gold-stickled round the papers, too. I needed to post tonight about pretty, girlie things because this week's episode of 'Primeval' (on the 'Watch' channel) had a lot of horrible insect in it. Yuck! Fortunately, in t...
