CRAFT Challenge #404 Mother's Day/Female

Image
Mothering Sunday will be here soon, and my heart goes out to all of those whose mothers are no longer with us. Seeing all the cards in shop windows can be very painful. So I'm glad to say that our next Challenge at CRAFT Challenge is Mother's Day OR Female . I went with a generic card for a lady. The cute image is Watering Can Flowers and is a digi from Pickled Potpourri. I coloured and fussy-cut the flowers and added Wink of Stella on the petals and gold stickles in the centres, then fussy-cut the image. I used a circle die to cut out the watering can image and added the flowers on top using foam pads. The mat is cut with another spellbinders die from a snippet of purple card. The papers are from the Indie Chic series by Basic Grey, this is 'Saffron' and it seems to be out of print. I have so many older paper pads! The ribbon and the crystal dragonflies are from Hobbycraft, and the gold-embossed sentiment is from a stamp set by Penny Black called Gratitu...

Dream Valley Challenges DT - #78 Mothering Sunday

Image
For my DT post for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Ta. It's Dream Valley Challenges time again! Next week it's Mothering Sunday/Mother's Day in the UK, and so that is our Challenge this fortnight. Our sponsor is Kenny K and the winner can choose 3 digis from their website. Not bad, eh? I'm afraid I didn't use a Sponsor image, because I don't have one suitable for a Mum! Instead I used a lot of die-cutting! All the papers are from my 'freebies from magazines' box. The teapot and cups are by Joy! and the others are by Spellbinders. The flock letter stickers are from stash. I wanted this to look like a table with a cloth, a lace mat, and a teaset. I now think it's a little busy - I hould have made the tablecloth out of plain paper - but that's how we learn! Inside the card is a little pocket and a teabag. Make yourself a cuppa, then go and see the fab creations made by my teamies and be inspired to ...

Dream Valley Challenge 52 - Mother's Day

Image
Good afternoon, all! If you're looking for my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. The Challenge at Dream Valley is to make something for a Mum, as it's Mothering Sunday here in the UK. Our lovely sponsor is Freckled Fawn who are offering a very generous $20 voucher to their online store! Their range of washi tape has to be seen to be believed!! Since every country celebrates mothers at different times of the year, feel free to create something for a lady, instead! It was International Women's Day last week - what I want to know is, why can't it be International Women's Day every day? After all, we ladies are awesome all the time, not just once a year! I'll get off my soapbox and talk about my card! Now, I have to say straight off that this is the first Centre Step Fold card that I've made and it's a bit wobbly. The template I used has long cuts down the back as well as the front; next time I make...

Dream Valley Challenge 27: Mother's Day

Image
Yes, it's time for another challenge at Dream Valley and this fortnight our theme is 'Mother's Day.' But because other parts of the world celebrate Mothers at different times of the year, feel free to make a 'girly' card if that suits you better! We have 2 fab sponsors: One Stop Card Crafts are offering a £10 voucher and Crafty Ribbons and one lucky person will win one of their Bevs Bags of ribbon I made my card last weekend, knowing my sister would be staying in my craft room so I wouldn't be able to get at my stash. One result is that I can't find the list of Spectrum Noirs that I used, unfortunately! However, I can tell you that the image is by Norma Fickel for Whiff of Joy . I really like her charming little characters! The pink background paper is by Kate Knight, from a stack that came with a magazine. The sentiment chipboard also came with the magazine. I have so many of these stacks, I'm determined to use them! The script paper is from my s...
