My Time to Craft Christmas #48 Winter Clothing.

Image
Q: Qhat do you get if you cross a Kangaroo with a Sheep? A: A Woolly Jumper. A very old joke.  (Here in the UK a sweater is also known as a jumper.) Our new challenge at  My Time to Craft Christmas  is to show winter clothing on your creation.  Scarves, hats, gloves, coats, woolly jumpers...  The papers and ephemera on this card are from the  Love from Lizi November 2022 card kit  which is called 'Cosy Christmas.'  The sentiment is from the  Perfect Sentiments Holiday  stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio, and I added Gold Coast Nuvo Drops to give some sparkle. My second card uses an old Memory Box die called 'Precious Mittens' which is now out of print.  I cut the first layer from pearlised white cardstock and also red paper, trimmed off the red mittens and glued them together.  The purple pearlised background has been embossed with a 'knitted' embossing folder.  Papers and ribbon are from stash and the sentiment is anothe...

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #3

Image
Good afternoon! We have another challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. As always the theme is Anything Goes - as long as it's Christmas! I have made a very simple card, using a die-cut, gold glitter paper, and an embossed sentiment. The die is by Memory Box, and I glued some gold glitter card behind the entire top piece to give a slightly raised effect when I glued it to the base card. The gold-embossed sentiment is, I think, an old magazine freebie. I doodled a frame around the sentiment using a metallic gel pen. Thanks for looking, do go and see my teamies' lovely festive creations and join in our Challenge! love Mags B x PS Ooops! I scheduled this for 1 am instead of 1pm! Oh dear, what a plonker!!! What a good thing that I checked before bedtime!!!!!

My Time to Craft DT #323 Summertime....

Image
.... and the livin' is easy! Our topical Challenge at My Time to Craft is Summertime so we'd like to see bright summery colours, summer activities, summer flowers and so on. To be honest, I was really tempted to go with an image of someone holding an umbrella! There's been so much rain of late! But I kept my card bright and sunny, maybe the weather will get the hint! This beautiful image is Sunshine by Ching Chou Kuik. I coloured her with Promarkers and added Wink of Stella in clear all over her dress. The Frame behind her is by Joy Crafts from Noor! Design, as is the die I used for the two leafy fronds on the left. The wreath die is Catalina Wreath by Memory Box. The papers came from a magazine a long time ago! I used a retro flower punch for the layered pink flower, and a Martha Stewart PATP punch for the yellow horizontal border. The sentiment is from Say It In Style by Clearly Besotted. Do join in our Challenge - if it's grey and gloomy where yo...

My Time to Craft Challenge #315 Check It Out!

Image
Hi, guys! Happy Saturday! And if you have to work today, I hope everything goes really well for you! We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft! and it's a really good one: Check It Out! In other words, use checked, gingham or plaid paper on your creation. I used a gorgeous image from Julia Spiri who is a new designer to me, I came across her via recommendations on Facebook and I love her sweet images! This is 'Little May'. I love her long eyelashes! The papers were all from an old booklet, free with a magazine. Just like last year, my New Year's Resolution is to use up old papers before I buy any new ones! Last year I managed 2 months of my stash diet - I wonder how well I'll do this year?! Anyway, back to the card. There are two checked papers: the yellow one is a Prince of Wales check, and the green strip is a plaid. I used Memory Box dies Chloe Stem and Chandra Stem and some Prima flowers with central brads on one side of the image, and a b...

Sympathy card.

Image
Sadly, I've had to make some sympathy cards recently. I experimented by dropping tiny amounts of Brusho Pigment Powder on wet watercolour card using blues, purples and a smidgen of orange and green. When it had dried I die-cut it with a Memory Box Lovely Peony background die, then added the matching open die-cut in blue cardstock on top. The sentiment is by Penny Black from the Gratitude stamp set. Not too sombre, I hope! Thanks for looking! love Mags B x

Dream Valley DT 'Tag! You're it!'

Image
For my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Ta. Hello again! Apologies for being late with this post, too! Now that I'm a Deputy Church Warden (no need to salute lol!) Sunday mornings can be quite busy! I should have remembered to schedule today's posts. Sorry!!! Anyway, enough of my twaddle! The new Challenge at Dream Valley is to use a Tag on your creation. Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine Stamps and a winner can choose 3 of their gorgeous images from the store! Go and see what my teamies have done with the lovely images they were given! And here is my card: The alert among you (ie everyone) will notice that I didn't use a digi image. My printer isn't speaking to my laptop for some reason, and refuses to produce anything but blank sheets of paper. (Or maybe it's pictures of a white horse in a blizzard? No, I don't think so, either.) There are three tags on the card, they are made with a Whiff of Joy die, the...

Dream Valley Challenges #68 Halloween

Image
For my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Thanks! This fortnight's challenge at Dream Valley is a seasonal one - Halloween! Our sponsor is Di's Digi Stamps (which was Di's Digi downloads but she has a new site.) I used one of her adorable images for my card, this is called 'All Aboard' and she's available from the 'Halloween' section of the website here I love the traditional orange and black colours used for Halloween and Autumn cards! I couldn't actually decide what paper to use for my background, so I dug out various papers from my snippets Box and glued them at an angle to a snippet of white card. The vertical piece looks white in the photo (my camera skillz are not the best!) but in real life it's a pale blue. I used nesties to die-cut the image, which is coloured with Promarkers, and the mat is done with a Lacey Circle Nestie, using pearlised black card from Paqpermania. The spiders are cu...

The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge #48 Something Spooled.

Image
Good morning! The new challenge at The Squirrel and the Fox and the theme is to use 'something spooled.' That can be lace ribbon, twine, string - anything that comes of a spool. Our sponsor is the fab Robyn's Fetish and a lucky winner will be able to choose 5 digis from the shop! The DT could also use some images, I chose English tea cup isn't it pretty? I used a Go Kreate large Frilly Die to make the shaped card blank. The background paper is by Bearly Mine, I love the roses! I used a Spellbinders Stately Circles die for the mat. The image is coloured with Speccies, and the roses have been Glossy Accented. The flowers are by wild Orchid Crafts, and the fern is made with a Memory Box die (it was a pain to cut, even in Excalibur, my gorgeous Grand Calibur!) I used two spooled items - a length of lace, and some organza ribbon. Do go and see what my teamies have made, they will inspire you to dig out your spools and have a go! Thanks for looking! love M...

A Christmas Tag!

Image
I apologise for this terrible picture, the colours are rather faint and faded :( The current Penny Black Saturday Challenge is to make a tag. I don't have any readymade ones, so I took a slightly battered ivory card blank and cut it to size. The sketch is from Mojo Monday , it fits what I wantwed to do very well! The background paper is Papermania, from the Vintage Christmas stack. I coloured another piece of ivory card with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink by smearing the pad onto my craft sheet, spritzing with water and dabbing the card until I had a nice speckly pattern. Very Time Holtz!! I used the small music stamp from the PB 'Clearly in Love' set, stamping with Versamark Gold, then tore round the image. I went over the edges of the papers with the Versamark, which gives a very pretty sheen that is nowhere in sight on the photo! The holly is a Memory Box die from Crafts U Love and I glittered the leaves with gold Glamour Dust. The lace is from stash, and so is the ribbo...
