My Time to Craft #371 Circles

Image
Morning, all! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend. Our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is simply Circles. That is, use more than one circle on your card. I have quite a few on mine! I have this Mod Circle Frame Die from Simon Says Stamp. It's gorgeous, but quite tricky to use: it needs fairly sturdy card and a lot of little dots of glue in the corners and along the lines - I found out the hard way that Stick-It sheets don't work as the lines are so thin!! I cut several papers with the same die and inlaid them into the frames. I do love that look, though it can be fiddly. The sentiment is from the Everyday Greetings set by Mama Elephant and reads 'Enjoy the small moments.' My inventive teamies have left some lovely inspiration for you on the blog, do have a look! Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

My Time to Craft DT Challenge #340 Travel

Evening, all! I hope you are all having a good weekend. The evenings are getting noticeably longer now, and Spring is on its way! Though on sunny days the sun shining through the windows shows me that they really need a good clean! Are you planning your holibobs yet? Because our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is Travel. So that means boats, aeroplanes, cars, motorbikes - you get the idea. I have this very, very old wood-mounted stamp, I've had it for years. It's not the easiest to stamp, being big and also full of tiny details. I tried embossing in white and painting a wash of watercolour over it, and it just did not work. Then I tried Versafine Onyx Black, which is so good for fine detail, but it was too stark. Sepia Versafine was just dull. Finally I went for Mama Elephant's Stargazer pigment ink. Success! It was annoying that my previous ideas didn't work, but all that practice in stamping meant the final image came out really well!!! I added a ...

My Time to Craft DT Challenge #276 'Two or more people'

Image
Good morning! I hope you're having a happy weekend! At My Time to Craft this week we have a very specific theme, we'd like to see Two or more people on your creation. And, remember, it doesn't have to be a card, any craft is welcome if it follows the Challenge rules! I did make a card, though! This totally adorable image is by Sarah Kay. They are coloured in Copics (I'm still practising!). I used 2 dies from Mama Elephant to cut the image with a postage stamp edge, and to cut the paper with a stitched edge. I used Distress Ink on the image mat. The background paper is from the Floral Pavilion stack by First Edition. The sentiment is by Studio Calico, it came with a kit. My teamies have excelled in their creations, as usual - go and see and be inspired! Remember we'd like to see at least 2 people on your creation!! Now I'm going to watch craft videos on Youtube and do a humongous pile of ironing! Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend. ...

My Time to Craft DT Challenge #274 Stripes

Image
Good morning! I hope you're all having a good weekend and that you're staying safe and warm if your weather is bad. I have been doing my traditional January tasks - clearing out all the out-of-date food that gathers in my kitchen and fridge/freezer! I'll have to do a Big Shop to replenish supplies!!! It was a nice change to make this card! Our Challenge this week is Stripes . You can use stripy papers, or stamp your stripes on your card, which is what I did. I used a stamp from Be Joyful by Simon Says Stamp, and shades of pigment inks by Mama Elephant in an ombre pattern. I cut my base paper with a frame die, also from Mama Elephant and after stamping cut a circle with a Spellbinders Die. The flower is from the Best Mom Ever stamp set, also by Simon Says Stamp. I stamped in black Versafine and clear-embossed, then watercoloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Marker. I added it behind the cut out with foam tape and used more foam tape to stick it onto my card base. ...
