Waterlily Tilda

Image
Evening, all! I'm not going to mention the weather... When I saw this adorable Waterlily Tilda I had to buy her - since my granddaughter is called Lillie! She's coloured in Promarkers. I put baby blue stickles on the water and magenta on the butterflies' wings, and glamour-dusted the floral arrangement - and of course it doesn't show in the picture :( I used a Nesties Labels Eight die to cut her out, and distressed the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Ink while the die was still in place - I added more colour at the bottom to extend the pond area. Papers are Nitwits Tour of London, they're so pretty! The ribbon and charm and metal corner are from stash. I went a bit 'wild' with the Wild Orchid flowers! The leaves are made with a Woodware Punch. The butterflies are shiny stickers that were a pressie from my daughter. The lovely sketch is from this fortnight's Sunday Sketch and Stamp it was just right for this! I'm also entering the curren...

Arrrrrrr me hearties!

Image
Morning, all! I want to thank you for your lovely comments! Yesterday I had a very minor op and when I got back from the surgery I was feeling rather shaky, but when I read your comments they made me feel so very much better. so - THANK YOU!!! I wasn't allowed to do the ironing (shame!) so I made this. It's the first attempt at masking two images together that has turned out quite reasonably! The stamps are Magnolia, of course. I used Promarkers and Glossy Accented both skulls. The papers are digis by Creative Cottage, and I've had these scraps hanging around for about 2 years! I used baker's twine from The Ribbon Girl. The skull charm and pearls are from stash. The buttons are from my Mother in Law's button tin - the big one has lines on it rather like the points of a compass, so I thought it was appropriate! Here's the inside with more skulls: And here's a close-up of the button: I'm entering Just Magnolia Challenge whose theme is ...

Tilda and butterflies

Image
Happy Bank Holiday! Is it raining where you are? We have typical BH weather - wet, grey and cold! So I have spent the day clearing and chucking-out, and a bit of cardmaking in between! This little Tilda is one of my favourites! She looks so surprised at the butterfly that's landed on her gorgeous bow. I used some of the new *Summer Limited Edition Promarkers, they are such pretty colours I just couldn't resist them.  The challenge at A Passion for Promarkers is 'Light and Bright' - either use bright papers and soft coloured pens or vice-versa. I went for some bright papers by Raspberry Road that were free with 'Quick Cards' which are also quite shiny, though my naff camera skillz haven't really picked them up. Following an example by the lovely Jules I used checked paper from the stack instead of plain card for matting. The swirl is a Marianne die, the cute butterflies are a Woodware punch. I coloured them with Promarkers to match the image and ...

Church Holiday Club Thank you Card

Image
This card is for my friend Julie, who has been running our Church Holiday Club this week. It's been great - the kids have got on really well together, and there have been lots of opportunities for all the helpers to make fools of themselves - er - I mean, get involved in the drama we put on for the children to enjoy. Today I performed 'Knees Up, Mother Brown' under my stage name, Cherry Cola (said in a Geordie accent. You may have heard of my husband, the footballer Ashtray Cola!) Unforutunately I haven't got any of the details of the Promarkers written down, but there are Magnolia die-cuts to go with the darling Tilda image, and a Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch, and a Wild Orchid Crafts metal corner. The ribbon is from Hobbycrafts, the gems are from my stash, and the silver stickers are paperchase. The papers are Nitwits Cherry Blossoms and I used a Woodware leaf punch, too. The die-cut circular mat is a Nestie. I'm entering this card for the Papertake W...

Paper-pieced Tilda for Just Magnolia

Image
Good afternoon, everyone! Today it looks as if Spring has come to Southeast Hertfordshire: chilly, showery, sunny intervals and rain! It doesn't feel like June at all! I recently decided that I didn't have enough Magnolias and indulged in a few more! This happy lassie is 'Happy Spring Tilda' and she really makes me smile! This week's challenge at Just Magnolia is paper-piecing, one of my favourite techniques! I'm really pleased how the dress came out on this card. The papers are K & Co Classic K, so pretty! I used Promarkers, as usual (love my Promarkers!) and stickled Tilda's lace. I also put Glossy Accents on her shoes, which has changed the original peach and coral to a more orange tone, but it seems to look ok. The sketch was for last week's Sweet Sketch Wednesday, so I've missed that challenge. I don't know why, but this week I've been a day behind myself, thinking yesterday was Tuesday. My memory's as topsy-turvy as the weather...

My first hAnglar and stAnglar card for Just Magnolia

Image
Hi folks! Suddenly it was a normal spring day ie grey skies and a chilly wind! I hope the sunshine makes a return on Friday for all the people lining the route or having street parties! I have at last got my first H and S stamps, a mini kit with a Bee Boy and Girl. Next month my dear friend's twins are being baptised, and they are perfect! I've made Isaac's card first, using the current sketch at Just Magnolia and Hanglar ans Stanglar because the sketch was just what I needed! Papers are a mix - Kanban, 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' freebie set from Cardmaking and Papercraft, and a loose blue leaf from stash - I embossed the latter with my Cuttlebug 'Daisies' folder but it doesn't show too well! The ribbon on the left, which also isn't showing very well, is from stash. The flowers and the silver filigree corner are Wild Orchid, and just visible under the flowers are leaves made with a Magnolia Doohickey leaf die. I stickled the little lad...

Just Magnolia and Sketch Saturday

Image
Just an uber-quick post while waiting for hubby to get home from work. I'm entering this card for the Just Magnolia Challenge and the Sketch Saturday Challenge I do like this little Tilda, who looks like Snow White! Papers are Nitwits (buds and blossoms too). I stickled the edges, and Tilda's lace. Oops, there's the front door - gotta fly! luv, Mags x Edited to add: here are some more details. Recipe: the circle has been embossed with the dots Cuttlebug folder, and Tilda cut out and popped onto foam pads on top of it. The sentiment is Whiff of Joy. Promarkers are: Tan, Cinnamon, Burnt Sienna, Blush, Dusky Pink, Pastel Pink; Cocktail Pink, Lime Zest. I like these papers so much, I didn't want to hide them with embellies (and it has to go in the post, too.) Though once again the pic is a bit washed-out, the colours are really pretty irl. Thanks for looking! luv, Mags x

My first Just Magnolia Challenge!

Image
It has taken me forever to make this card! Every time I settled down to craft this afternoon I was interrupted. The phone. My neighbour (though that was a nice interruption, because we had a cuppa). The postie. The phone. A man selling stuff. The phone. You know what it's like! Some days you just can't start making a card! I persevered! I ordered pizza! This is the result. The lovely sketch is by Dawny P at Just Magnolia Challenge 72 Papers and gems are from stash (I'm trying very hard to use up my stash before it takes over the house!) I used Promarkers, and glittered Tilda's lace and the middle of the flowers in her hair. The sentiment is PB. I cut out the image (she is sooo cute!) and raised her on foam pads for some dimension. Thanks for looking! Night night! luv, Mags x Promarkers: Vanilla, Tulip Yellow, Gold, Mint Green, Blush, Dusky Pink, Pastel Pink, Orchid, Powder blue, Amethyst
