Bonsai!

Image
Evening, all! if you're looking for my post for 'My Time to Craft' please scroll down to the previous post. I had 2 cards to make today - one for my Dad's 95th birthday on Thursday; and one for my Flower Arranging mentor, who is in hospital - hopefully not for long. I chose an image of a Bonsai from the Woodware Oriental Elements clear Stamp Set for both cards because both recipients will appreciate it. My Dad learned Japanese after he was invalided out of the Army in 1943 and became a translator at the end of the War in the Far East. My mentor and I went to a wonderful demonstration of Japanese Flower Arranging last year. So you can see that both have an interest in Bonsai!! For my Mentor: The image is coloured with Promarkers. The leaves are stickled, and the pot is covered with Glossy Accents. The 'love' symbol is from another Woodware set, Oriental Ladies. I used a Woodware reverse rounder punch on the corners, and pearls from Hobbycraft for some bl...

Dream Valley DT

Hi, guys! It's time for another challenge at Dream Valley . There were lots of lovely entries for the Halloween Challenge last time, with spooky characters and spiders and bats and pumpkins! This time the challenge is 'Anything Goes!' Make anything, not necessarily a card - go wherever your mojo takes you! Unfortunately we haven't heard from our sponsors, so the lovely Melly is giving a £10 voucher for either Crafty Emma's Store which is full of the most gorgeously tempting stuff; or for Saturated Canary's Etsy shop of digital images. If you haven't yet come across Saturated Canary , do go and look! If you like the images Krista does for the Simply Sassy range for Sugar Nellie, you'll love these, too! Okiedokie, cut the cackle, Mags, what about the card? This is for my dad's birthday, which is today! We've just come back from Derby and a family lunch, which is why this post is so late! The lovely image is LotV, of course. My Dad always likes to...

Birthday card for my Dad

Image
My Dad will be 91 on Saturday! His sight isn't too good, so I've gone for texture. The PB candles are gold-embossed and coloured in with Promarkers - Blue Pearl, Orchid and I can't remember the third! There's a mat of purple mulberry paper, and gold card edged with one of my fave MS punches. Fab'n'Funky Challenges has a 'Clean and Simple' Challenge, so I'm entering this card. The photo is a bit too pale, the background card is Deep Purple though it looks more blue here. Sorry I haven't been around recently, the Old Man and I went to visit our son, who lives with his girlfriend in a lovely village halfway between Shrewsbury and Oswestry. We were lucky with the weather, for once! Shropshire is so, so beautiful, especially with the leaves turning and the Welsh Mountains on the horizon. Coming home we got stuck in 4 traffic jams! It hosed down with rain, too. I was bawling my eyes out (my baby boy! All grown up!) as you do. I did it when he went to...
