My Time to Craft #392 Raining Cats and Dogs!

Image
Hi, guys! We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft! and it's to use images of a dog, a cat or both on your creation! Cute, or what?! I have made a fairly CAS card. This very elegant cat is from the Nine Lives stamp set by Paper Smooches. I stamped her several times with Versacolor Onyx Black ink to get good coverage, then used clear embossing powder to give some shine. The "You're Purr-fect" sentiment is from another Paper Smooches set, Chubby Chums. I ink smooshed the background using Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks, then lightly sprayed with Perfect Pearls to give a nice sheen. I used 2 strips of paper from Nitwits' Bonnets and Bowties collections, and finished with some Nuvo Drops. Do have a look at my teamies' sweet creations and be inspired to join in! Thanks for looking! love Mags B x

Starburst!

Image
Good evening, my lovelies! I'm just popping by quickly with a card I made using the Starburst technique and some Lili of the Valley papers. (The link is to one of many Youtube videos, this is also known as the 'Sunburst' technique but 'Starburst' is the name of the faster-than-light travel in the tv series 'Farscape' and since I'm a big fan.....) I made several like this while watching the World Cup last week. Once the papers are cut it's easy to put them together. The sentiment is also LotV and is gold embossed, and the ribbon is from my stash. The only thing to watch out for in this technique is to make sure that directional patterned papers are cut and glued in the right direction so that eg hearts are all the right way round. My daughter came over from Ireland because she had her latest blood tests and report on whether she is still clear of her cancer and I'm delighted to say that she is still in remission! Then tomorrow the Old ...

A hoot of a card!

Good evening, all! Sorry I haven't blogged much this week, I have had some problems uploading pictures to the blog : fortunately my daughter and her wonderful partner are here for the weekend - he is a Jedi Master of IT and has solved the problem! He is a very noble gentleman!!! So here is one of a set of cards I made a week ago, starring the Woodware Patch an Owl set. I paper pieced the owl, using LotV Bonnets and Bowties papers (they came free with a mag!) The beak is pieced with a scrap of gold card from stash. I used a snippet of pink card and a Spellbinders Lacey Squares die for the mat. The sentiment came with the set. I used a stamp from the Winter Gifts stamp set and the matching Tag You're It dies. The tiny flower brads are from stash. Here's a picture of the 4 cards lying on my ironing board: One of the great things about paper piecing is that if you use 4 different papers you can easily make 4 cards!! I hope you've all had a great weekend, ...

A Flower!

Evening, all! While tidying the craft hovel yet again I came across some little 4 x 4 inch square cards. I also had some paper on my desk, left over from a previous card - this is from 'Bonnets and Bowties' by LotV which is the current freebie with "Simply Cards and Papercraft" magazine. They are such pretty papers, I have the original Nitwits digis, and the LotV paper pad, and now this freebie!!!!! I had already die-cut a circle in the chequered piece, so it just needed a trim. The spotty paper is also a snippet, though I'm not sure where it's from. I raised the die-cut paper on foam pads (lots of them round the cut edge so it wouldn't sag!) and added the flower: this is 2 Prima flowers layered together, and the pink button is from stash. Finally the sentiment is by Hero Arts from the Clear Design 'Messages' set, and I stamped it in Hero Arts Navy Shadow Ink. The tiny pearls were from Hobbycraft. I'm entering The Snippet Playground wit...

The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge 46 - use metal!

Image
Good morning, all! I hope you're all enjoying a peaceful Sunday. I have had my son and his little family staying for two nights, which was lovely! My son still has the ability to annoy his sister within a minute - do our children ever really grow up?! My DiL and I sat on the sidelines, shaking our heads and playing with my gorgeous grandchild, Lillie, who is crawling (very fast!) and loves to explore in rooms she isn't allowed to visit, like the kitchen! It's lovely having a baby about the place again! Time for my card! This fortnight's challenge at The Squirrel and the Fox is slightly unusual: it's to Use Metal . This could be charms, or brads, or metal flowers or foliage, or corners, or bookplates - anything made of metal that's an intrinsic part of your design. (You may want to Think Tim Holtz!!!) Our wonderful sponsor is Beary Wishes who are offering 3 of their cute digis to a lucky winner! The site also has free digi stamps, so you can 'try before...
