KARL EDMUND PRIER S.J. - BISIKAN NADA

Karl Edmund Prier, SJ (18 September 1937 – 21 January 2024) was a German Catholic priest from the Order of the Society of Jesus who worked in Indonesia. He studied piano at the age of 9. In 1953, when he was 16 years old and attending the Albertus Magnus Schule Viernheim Gymnasium. Six years later, he studied philosophy in Munich. After graduating in 1962, he taught music at the Stella Matutina College Feldkirch, Austria. After reading a book chronicling the journey of a missionary in the Eskimo interior, he became a novitiate in the order of the Society of Jesus. He first came to Indonesia in 1964 and founded the Liturgical Music Center in Yogyakarta on 11 July 1971. On February 11 2018, Prier was stabbed while leading mass at Santa Lidwina Bedog Church, Yogyakarta. Father Prier died at the age of 86 at Panti Rapih Hospital, Yogyakarta on January 21 2024 and was buried in the cemetery complex for the priests of the Society of Jesus Girisonta (Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery).... Here's a cassette from him where he plays works from the old master composers on a Solina SL 110 organ and a Philicorda organ.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

This reminds me a lot of the very early 80's... Getting stoned, magic mushrooms, listening to Edgar Froese who was in the same band as Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream.... This album, made for Italian pornographer, film director, producer, screenwriter, novelist and researcher Lasse Braun came out in 1977.... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

Fantastic album from The Pink Mice which was also heavy-metal band Lucifer's Friend from Germany, great prog-rock and symphonic rock versions of works by Beethoven, Bach, Tschaikowsky, Mozart and Suppe, this album came out in 1973.... Very much like Dutch band Exception... GET IT HERE Enjoy!

Back in the early 80's I was very much into the whole Neue Welle, post-punk bands from Germany like Einsturzende Neubauten, Abwaerts, Palais Schaumburg (saw them all live a bunch of times too) and loads of other bands. Here's another German band from that era and that scene, Geisterfahrer from Hamburg. Here's their 1988 album Stein & Bein....

REST IN PEACE GABI DELGADO-LOPEZ

Saw that he died just before I went to sleep yesterday.... Gabi was the singer and co-founder, with Robert Görl, of the electronic band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft. I've been a big fan of their work since I was around 15 years of age and if I had to make short list of say 10 albums that influenced me the most their first two albums Product Der Deutch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft and Die Kleinen und Die Bosen would be on that list (together with Metabolist's Hansten Klork, The Gang Of Four's Entertainment, the Black & White album from The Stranglers and Deceit from This Heat)....

So in honor of Gabi Delgado here's their fantastic album Die Kleine und Die Bosen.... Produced by the great Conny Plank, who, once, said nah thanks, not interested, when David Bowie asked him to work with him. He said the same thing to Bono :)

Rest In Peace Gabi Delgado-Lopez!!!!
