A new crochet project

In my last post I told you I was working on a new crochet project. The colours of the Zinnia's and Dahlia's in my garden and an old painting I found in the thrift store, inspired me to pick up my crochet needle once again. I hope my little project turns out the way I imagine. If not, I am not going to show you ;-)

The little fluted domes you can see on some of the photo's are called 'Cannelés Bordelais'. They are delicious French fancies, made of a sort of pancake like batter. They are crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and totally addictive. I am still working on the perfect shape, so forgive me if they look a bit wobbly.

I received some happy mail this week: the Christmas edition of Victorian Homes magazine with twelve pages of my photo's inside. I am so proud. I added a photo of one of the pages below, so you get an idea how it looks like. The Victorian Homes magazine is available at Barns and Noble and select book stores in the USA. I am not sure if you can buy it in other parts of the world. Sorry!

Thank you once again for leaving comments on my blog. I read them all and appreciate them very much.  I am not always able to visit your blog, but I do try. Sorry, if I haven't popped over lately.

Wishing you a lovely week!

* I added two photo's of my home town, Rotterdam. The most beautiful and inspiring town there is.

On the cover

Before you read this post, put on Colin Farrell with 'Happy' :-). That is how I feel at the moment! Just after I published last weeks blog post and opened up my mailbox (the real one, not the one line one), I was in for a pleasant surprise. Do you remember I wrote about the glass of my green house breaking and hoping for a bit of luck? Well, I believe my fortune has changed :-)

The Victorian Homes magazine was sent to me, with one of my photo's on the cover. I jumped for joy :-)! It looks absolutely fantastic! Beside the cover photo, two beautifully written articles are inside, about the tea parties I have in my garden and my collection of vintage tea cups. All photo's in the articles were made by me. I am so incredibly proud!

If you are interested in the magazine. You can buy it at Barnes and Noble and select book stores and grocery stores in the USA. You can order a copy on line too.

I spent some time behind my sewing machine last week, to make new cushion covers for in my garden. I love a bit of change now and then. Let me show you the first one. I am quite happy the way it turned out. It's partly made of vintage fabric.

While I am writing this post, I can see large patches of blue in the sky, while the first rays of sunlight shine through my window.  I think I will put my sewing machine in the cupboard for a day and head off to the garden! When I was there yesterday, I noticed the first daffodils and hyacinths in bloom. At last, at last, at long long last :-)

Wishing you a sunny day. Have fun!

Love,

Madelief x

* The floral dress on the photo's was a recent vintage find. It's absolutely lovely and perfect to wear at tea parties in my garden. The crochet necklaces were made by me.

Absolutely delighted!

It's quiet in blogland. Most bloggers are probably enjoying the summer holidays, and rightly so. I haven't been spending much time behind my computer either. The weather is too fine, not to enjoy! It keeps luring me outside :-). I love to go the beach, make long walks and step on my bicycle.  We made a short trip to Bergen recently, a lovely seaside town not too far from Amsterdam. I will show you some photo's soon. I have also started on a new crochet project, but more about that soon as well.

We enjoy the peacefulness of the garden too. There are many shady places to sit and relax. I am a bit disappointed with the colour in my garden at the moment. There are some mid season plants missing. My mother bought me some phlox recently, which will brighten it up a little. The Sweet Peas are looking exceptionelly well. They are all over the place, growing abundantly, a riot of colour. Hurray to them!!

I want to say thank you to Conny, from the blog Conny's cottage, for winning her lovely shopping bag. A big kiss to you Conny!

I was absolutely delighted to receive a mail this week, that my garden was featured in the July issue of the American magazine 'Creating Vintage Charm' :-). Thank you Sonia, for your kind words and making it all look so pretty!

A lovely week to you all! Enjoy the summer!
