Butterfly Effect Movie card

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Movies".

It's hard to believe, but it's been 10 years since I was chosen to participate as a design team member in Monday Challenge Blog. Back then it was called Simon Says Stamp and Show. At that time, I was only about a year into paper crafting. A whole world opened up to me. I discovered all the amazing products, like the Distress line, Sizzix dies, Idea-ology from Tim Holtz, among others. And of course I started collecting/hoarding a lot like everbody else.

Then I discovered challenge blogs, like Simon Says Stamp and Show, and not much later they had a DT call. I'd never been in a DT before, but figured why not. And yes, I got the email I had dreamed of, I was chosen! It was a super fun time. I'm so happy that you followed me along this journey! Thanks for that! Of course I also want to thank my teammies and the whole Simon Says Stamp family that I've been a part of! All of you, thanks so much!

Okay, so now for my final project! I was always very intrigued by the movie The Butterfly Effect. Also because of the Butterfly Effect phenomenon, which is why that is my inspiration for my card. I started with Distress Spray Stain Speckled Egg, Prize Ribbon and Black Soot for a dark and mysterious background. With the Dapper, Read to Me and Entomology stamps I added more depth.

For the star of the card I used the butterfly from the Specimen stamp set. I stamped it first with Distress Oxide Faded Jeans, and then stamped the edges with Distress Archival Ink Black Soot. I colored the butterfly with Distress Ink Faded Jeans, Black Soot and Ground Espresso.

Full of Curiosity Window Frame card

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Frame It".

For this challenge I had picked out the Window Frames, and thought the Brickwork 3D Embossing Folder would match very well with it. Both are really realistic, and it had been a while since I had used the Brickwork folder and the technique I use with it to make it even more realistic. First, I gave the background a first layer of color with Distress Oxide Walnut Stain, Hickory Smoke, and Distress Spray Stain Ground Espresso. Then I used the Brickwork Embossing Folder with Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap on it.

I applied Distress Paint Antique Linen very lightly with my finger in a few spots. Then I used Distress Crayon Rusty Hinge, Ground Espresso and Peeled Paint for some more color difference in the bricks. With Distress Oxide Speckled Egg I made the grout a bit lighter in color. I also distressed the Window Frame with Distress Crayon, to make the weathered effect of the bricks similar with the window.
