birthday card and present for 13 year old boy!

Did I feel a shudder then at the thought of not only trying to come up with a present but also making a card for a 13 year old boy?
I thought so.

Well luckily I didn't have long to think about it so I just had to go with simple. I'm fairly pleased with the outcome, it's no masterpiece, but it passed the husband test. The card blank is from a pack of Papermania Kraft cards, I am so pleased I found these, they are just gorgeous. The knot is again the immovable knot from Simplicity. if you haven't tried this technique yet, then go do it now.

seriously what are you waiting for? It's amazing.

it's okay, I'll wait while you go...

dum de dum.

meanwhile, I also needed a present.

of course it has to be an Amazon Voucher. SO I made another of my scroll boxes. But this time I kept it really simple. The folded tag is made from some of the offcut from making the box and is perfect for holding the tie closure in place.

The immovable knot is one of my favourite techniques at the moment so I am entering this for the lots to do challenge

super simple belated card

oh don't you just hate that feeling when you realise you've forgotten a birthday, however I do it so often I have a stamp for just such an occasion, it's from a SeeDs set and I've used it inside this card.

The front of the card, however, gave me a chance to play with all new stuff, the stamps are from the new paperartsy Hotpick 6. I have also use a die cutting die from Paperartsy for the moth. I am not a big diecutter. I love the effects but I'm just too tight to buy a decent diecutter. All I have is the x-cut impress and I wasn't sure it would work with these dies, without faffing about with shimming etc, but to my great delight they work beautifully, in fact even better than the x-cut dies!!!
This card couldn't be any easier to make but. I do love simple!

New distress inks

The theme today at lots to do is distress, as luck would have it I took delivery of six of the new distress inks today from the artistic stamper, so I had to have a play. I have made this tag easel card using 3 of the new colours: stormy sky; pumice stone and crushed olive. All the stamps are also by the artistic stamper including the new lace stamp. (no that's not real lace, it's a stamp, realistic isn't it?)

lots to do: use a machine

The challenge at lots to do, is to use a machine. I love the look of machine sewing on cards, but rarely get round to doing it as it seems so much effort, despite the fact that my sewing machine is right there next to my craft desk!!
so I forced myself and made this using Inka stamps.

violin card

My eldest son is leaving primary school this week (obviously I had him very young ;) ) and I wanted to make a card for his violin teacher, so I used this lovely image from the stampsmith. I see the lots to do theme is collage. I think most of what I do could be described as collage, so I am entering this for that theme.
I have also put it on the stampsmith blog

also this week at the forever friends challenge we have the theme pink and blue and a flower or two, and this is the card I made for that.

lots to do: wood

The challenge at lots to do is too use wood. So I went into my "assorted stuff" drawer to see what I had made of wood, and I found a packet of clothes pegs, and some magnets. Along with the new papers and stamps that I just received today from PaperArtsy, this magnetic clip was born.

catching up with challenges!

I've had a couple of days off stamping, and look how far behind I've fallen with all the challenges, so I decided today to catch up with as many as possible in one piece!
The background of this ATC is created with Alcohol ink dripped onto glossy card. All the stamps are by PaperArtsy
created by hand blobs and splatters.

lots to do

I hadn't intended blogging thses cards at all, because they are such basic, quick makes. In fact the only reason they are not already sealed up for the party this afternoon is because I am STILL waiting for my son to write in them (roll eyes).
Anyway, as the theme on lots to do is names, I thought I may as well blog them. I like to put names on childrens cards (and no greeting) as I have been told that children like to use my cards as doorplates or bookmarks after their birthdays. I have used the skateboarders from I brake for stamps again. These stamps have been so useful. Having two sons I have to make a lot of boys cards, so these stamps were definitely money well spent (mind you isn't money spent on stamps always money well spent?)

and another tag

I love the look of bingo cards in mixed media art, but they may not always be easy to come accross, so I thought this bingo card stamp from Inka would be very useful.
I have used some new extra large We R Memory Keepers Eyelets from QVC. I love them!!
I have also used a vellum collage image from Inka.
I am entering this for the lots to do challenge which is numbers.

my heart has wings

The theme at mixed media monday of hearts and wings was just the push I needed to use these fabulous wing stamps that I just got from Inka, aren't they beautiful? I combined them with the floral heart (already one of my favourites)and a few other bits to make this quick hanging.
as the theme at lots to do is also wings I am entering this piece for that challenge as well.

circles postcard

The theme at Sunday Postcard art is to make a 6"x4" postcard with the theme circles. I have used circles on the background by stamping with water onto a distress ink background with a ringer stamp and stamping in distress ink as well.
I have combined this with the lots to do challenge "in stitches" by stitching some circles with string. The base of this piece is corrugated cardboard.

The main image (from Inka) is on vellum, hence the various ways it is attached to the background.

Woof

My original inspiration for this was to make a stripy background using adirondack dabbers, and crackle paint, so I thought I'd make something for Tag you're it's stripy challenge. I also fancied TGIF's dog challenge so I used this image from Inka. As the child and dog are wearing newspaper hats I thought I would use newspaper as an embellishment, and this is the theme at Lots To Do Challenges.

artygirlz also have anything but a card as a theme so I thought I could enter this tag. I hve also just entered this for Mixed Media Monday's challenge which is friendship as this quote to me is what friendship is all about.
