Rather Kiss a Cobra (1986)

Original title: Meglio Baciare un Cobra

Indiana Jones-copy. Italy. Starring Andy J. Forest, Milly D'Abbraccio & Paul Muller. Directed by Massimo Pirri.

Toshiba (Japan). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

Even though it's supposed to be a Indy-rippoff this film plays like a dirty prison movie for the most part. Passable entertainment. 2/5

Top Line (1988)

Sci-Fi/Indiana Jones-copy etc. Starring Franco Nero, Deborah Moore, William Berger, Mary Stavin & George Kennedy. Directed by Nello Rossati.

SHV (Japan). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

Bizarre, but enjoyable hybrid film that throws in a little bit of everything: sci-fi, action, adventure, horror, fantasy, stolen ideas from Indiana Jones and even the goddamned Terminator! A fun 90 minutes. 3/5

Original title: I Predatori della Pietra Magica

Action/Indiana Jones-rippoff. Italy. Starring Christopher Ahrens, James Mitchum & Clarissa Mendez. Directed by Tonino Ricci.

Curious mixture of Rambo-style shoot 'em up action and Indiana Jones shenanegans with a little bit of sci-fi/fantasy thrown in for good measure. Cheap but not badely made... quite entertaining actually! 3/5

Master of the World (1983)

Original title: I Padroni del Mondo

Fantasy (sort of). Italy. Starring Sven Kruger, Sasha D'Arc & Aldo Sambrell. Directed by Alberto Cavallone.

SPO Video (Japan). English dubbed narration and ugh!-language with no subs. Widescreen.

A violent and very bleak semi-serious stoneage epic á la Quest For Fire. For some reason this film always makes me depressed and it's not a title I revisit often. It was the last film directed by failed arthouse director turned angry porn director Cavallone and ironically the only one he did that got dubbed in english (the film's dialouge consists only of "ugh!":s save for the narration at the beginning and end). Cavallone also wrote the less serious but more fun stoneage flick Ironmaster. I doubt that this film will ever turn on on anybody's favorite film-lists but you have to see it at least once. 2/5

The Amazons (1973)

Original title: Le Guerriere dal Seno Nudo

Amazons/Peplum. Starring Alena Johnston, Malisa Longo, Rosanna Yanni & Helga Liné. Directed by Terence Young.

Pony Video (Japan). English dubbed. Fullscreen. This is the original 108 minute version, unlike the crap Retromedia DVD which was cut by over half an hour!

Lovely pulp amazon-peplum with cheezy dialouge, nude wrestling, dominant women etc... one for the guys. Cover couldn't be removed from its weird, striped box, hence the funky-looking scan. 4/5

Zorro (1975)

Zorro. Italy/France. Starring Alain Delon, Giacomo Rossi-Stuart & Stanley Baker. Directed by Duccio Tessari.

Eion Video (Japan). English dubbed. Widescreen.

Perhaps the best ever Zorro film! Constantly exiting film with a perfectly cast Alain Delon and one of the best swashbuckling duels of all time! And remember kids :"La-la-la-la-lala, Zorro's back!". This Japan video has the long 2 hour cut, and it's in widescreen unlike the DVD:s. 5/5

Great "female Tarzan" flick with the lovely Kitty Swan, the queen of the jungle gals! 4/5
