X-312 - Flight to Hell (1971)

Original title: X312 - Flug zur Hölle

Adventure/Action. West Germany/Spain. Starring Thomas Hunter, Howard Vernon, Gila von Weitershausen, Fernando Sancho, Paul Muller & Ewa Strömberg. Directed by Jesus Franco.

Quite nice little action-adventure film about a bunch of survivors of a plance crash in the brazilian jungle who encounters natives, gangsters, wild animals and of course their own greed. The greek VHS print is slightly letterboxed and has the english dub, whereas the Image DVD is fullscreen and in german with english subtitles. 3/5

La Marque de Zorro (1975)

Zorro adventure. France. Starring Roger Darton, Monica Swinn, Howard Vernon & Clint Douglas. Directed by Marius Lesoeur, Alain Payet (uncredited) & Jesus Franco (uncredited).

Nm. International (Sweden). Selltape. English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Bad and typically confusing Eurociné mishmash of newly shot scenes and re-used ones from an old 1960s Zorro. It was a while since I saw it but if I remember correctly Howard Vernon made one hell of a swashbuckling villian though! According to the internet movie database some footage was shot by good ol' Jess Franco, but i'd take that with a grain of salt... they also list french sleaze actress Monica Swinn as Zorro! (now there's a gender-bending Zorro movie i'd like to see!) 2/5

Un Capitán de Quince Años (1974)

Adventure. France/Spain. Starring José Manuel Marcos, Edmund Purdom, Howard Vernon, William Berger. Directed by Jesus Franco.

VML (Holland). French with dutch subtitles. Fullscreen.

This low budget Jules Vernes-adaption is almost universally loathed, even amongst Jess Franco fans, but I like it: a nice, relaxing adventure film with a fun cast. I think same whale harpooning footage is also used in another loathed spanish adaption of the same Jules Verne story, that I also happen to like: Juan Piquer Simón's Sea Devils. 3/5
