Very entertaining Zorro flick, one of the best of the genre! 4/5

Tarzan in King Salomon's Mines (1973)

Original title: Tarzán en las minas del rey Salomón

Jungle adventure. Spain. Starring David Carpenter & Paul Naschy. Directed by José Luis Merino.

Videofilm AB (Sweden). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

As far as euro-Tarzan ripp offs are conserned, this is the absolute bottom-of-the-barrell! But it's not without a certain Grade Z-charm. Z-Tarzan David Carpenter acts and looks brain-damaged (not surprised he never acted again) and spanish horror legend Paul Naschy plays the villian. 2/5

Wolfshead: The Legend of Robin Hood (1973)

Robin Hood adventure. UK. Starring David Warbeck, Kenneth Gilbert, Ciaran Madden & Sheraton Blount. Directed by John Hough.

S.T.V.P Video (Denmark). English language. Fullscreen.

This is the obscure pilot episode of a Hammer produced Robin Hood TV-series that never happened. It unsuccesfully tried to add a bit more realism to the formula. Pretty dire stuff, mostly of interest because a young David Warbeck played Robin (it's not hom on the cover though). 2/5

Sinbad and the Caliph of Bagdad (1973)

Original title: Simbad e il Califfo di Bagdad

Arabian fantasy/Comedy (?). Italy. Starring Robert Malcolm, Sonia Wilson & Luigi Bonos. Directed by Pietro Francisci.

Premium Video (Holland). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Arabian fantasy flop from the director of the first two Hercules-films with Steve Reeves, gigantic hits at their time. It's a cheaply made and often boring film in which you're not always sure whether the comedy is intentional or not. This and the sci-fi flop Star Pilot (underrestimated in my opinion) effectively killed Francisci's career... 2/5

The Amazons (1973)

Amazons/Peplum. Italy. Starring Alena Johnston, Malisa Longo, Rosanna Yanni & Helga Liné. Directed by Terence Young.

DVD: Cinefilm Imagico (Japan). English dubbed. Widescreen. Excellent quality! (108 min version)

Lovely pulp amazon-peplum with cheezy dialouge, nude wrestling, dominant women etc... one for the guys. 4/5

Maciste Contre la Reine des Amazones (1973)

Jungle adventure/Amazons/Erotica. France. Starring Val Davis, Lina Romay, Robert Woods, Kali Hansa & Alice Arno. Directed by Jesus Franco.

VML (Holland). French language. Letterboxed.

Sexy amazon cheapie by the king of euro-sleaze, Jess Franco. Silly fun. Don't be fooled by the Maciste-title though, it has nothing at all to do with the peplum series - in fact it's more a sleaze film than even an adventure film. 3/5

Zindy, the Swamp Boy (1973)

Original title: Zindy, el Fugitivo de los Pantanos

Family/Adventure. Mexico. Starring René Cardona III, René Cardona, Lindy Fields, Gloria Chávez & René Barrera. Directed by René Cardona Jr.

Westcon Home Video (Sweden). English dubbed. Fullscreen. Selltape.

Very obscure mexican family film (quite literally) about a young boy and his grandfather lost in the jungle. Fun to have seen but perhaps not the most interesting film in the world... 2/5

Tarzan and the Jungle Mystery (1973)

Original title: Tarzán y el Misterio de la Selva

Jungle adventure. Spain. Starring Richard Yesteran, Marina Ferri & Didi Sherman. Directed by Miguel Iglesias.

VTC (Sweden). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Very obscure spanish Tarzan ripp off. No matter how much I try not to I always compare these films to the great Caño/Hawkes/Swan collaborations, but it's not the same thing. While those films added something fresh to the Tarzan formula, the others are very much your standard, cheap B-film ripp offs. However, viewed as mindless cheezy entertainment this is one of the funnier. You have to love Richard Yesteran as the Grade Z Tarzan, his yell always cracks me up (if you think he was bad, watch David Carpenter in Tarzan in King Salomon's Cave... or rather, don't)! 3/5 (entertainment value)

They Were Called Three Musketeers But They Were Four (1973)

Original title: Li Chiamavano i Tre Moschettieri... Invece Erano Quattro

Sowrd/Comedy. Italy. Starring Tony Kendall, Ettore Manni, Stan Cooper &
Seyna Seyn. Directed by Silvio Amadio.

Videoklubben (Sweden). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

From the director of the great gialli Amuck and Smile Before Death comes this bizzarre costume slapstick with nudity, toilet humor, swashbuckling and even some (bad) kung fu! I know i've expressed praise for such daft adventure/slapstick atrocities such as Ricci's Robin Hood, Arrows, Beans and Karate, but this is where I draw the line. 2/5

Very entertaining Zorro flick, one of the best of the genre! 4/5

Original title: Le Amazzoni - Donne D'amore e di Guerra

Amazon adventure. Italy/Spain. Starring Lincoln Tate, Robert Widmark & Lucretia Love. Directed by Alfonso Brescia.

Metronome Video (Denmark). English dubbed. Widescreen.

Silly, but enjoyable amazon flick with sex on horseback and some mild whipping scenes. Another cheezy "Al Bradley" hit! 3/5

The Amazons (1973)

Original title: Le Guerriere dal Seno Nudo

Amazons/Peplum. Starring Alena Johnston, Malisa Longo, Rosanna Yanni & Helga Liné. Directed by Terence Young.

Pony Video (Japan). English dubbed. Fullscreen. This is the original 108 minute version, unlike the crap Retromedia DVD which was cut by over half an hour!

Lovely pulp amazon-peplum with cheezy dialouge, nude wrestling, dominant women etc... one for the guys. Cover couldn't be removed from its weird, striped box, hence the funky-looking scan. 4/5

Lovely european Jules Verne fantasy TV-series edited down to feature lenght (I also have the complete series on german DVD). Fantasy films don't come much better than this! 5/5
