Malkoçoglu - Cem Sultan (1969)

Adventure. Turkey. Starring Cüneyt Arkin, Gülnaz Huri, Cihangir Gaffari & Behçet Nacar. Directed by Remzi Jöntürk.

Arsel-Istanbul-Film (Germany). Fullscreen. Turkish language.

This one is less peplum-y in tone than the other Malkoçoglu film, but still great fun all the way. Cüneyt plays dual roles, as both the boyish adventurer and the fatherly turkish hero (with a GIANT fake moustasche). Cüneyt x 2 team up against a gang of ruthless bandits who are in league with the evil christian crusaders. 4/5

Malkoçoglu - Akincilar Geliyor (1969)

Arsel-Istanbul-film (Germany). Fullscreen. Turkish language.

Wild and highly entertaining historical adventure/peplum. Loved it! 4/5

Pretty dull, at least if you don't understand the language. Zorro's alter ego is a gay barberer in this one. 2/5

Zan, King of the Jungle (1969)

Original title: Tarzán en la Gruta del Oro

Jungle adventure. Spain/Italy/Puerto Rico. Starring Steve Hawkes, Kitty Swan, Krista Nell, Jesús Puente, Fernando Sancho, Raf Baldassarre & Ugo Sasso. Directed by Manuel Caño.

VTC (Sweden). English dubbed. Letterboxed.

The first, and best of the string of cheap, unauthorized Tarzan films that was produced in Spain during the late 60s/early 70s (here Tarzan was called Zan in most countries due to legal matters). Great fun all the way - Steve Hawkes is the coolest Tarzan, Kitty Swan the best jungle girl, the music is great and everything moves a long at fast pace (Umberto Lenzi's script throws in everything from amazons too men in gorilla suits). Recommended. 4/5

Zenabel (1969)

Sexy sword. Italy/France. Starring Lucretia Love. Directed by Ruggero Deodato.

Video F Films (Greece). English dubbed. Fullscreen.

Sexy swashbuckler, based on a Fumetti comicstrip. Fencing, tits and lowbrow humour is what you're getting served here... not really my cup of tea, like many films by Deodato it feels cold, like his heart wasn't in it. 2/5
