Big and Small

In the yard of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Looks like this church building is still functioning as civic facility.

Church of Christ's Resurrection in Kadashi

The church of Christ's Resurrection in Kadashi dated 1695 and survived the Bolshevicks with "minor losses" was again in danger in 2002 when the city government decided to allow the construction of office-apartment complex around this jem. Due to negative reaction of the community the project was set aside but not 100% revoked.

Interesting link to the paintings of this church here.

City Mix

Very often I hear from non-Muscovites that the city does not have unique style and idea, it is chaotic and hardly harmonious. This photo completely proves that these people are right:
(from left to right)

- Stalin's star decorates the 1950 building of Ministry of Defense.
- 2007 apartment building pretends to look classicism-ly.
- 1860 apartment building for latest 50 years pretends to keep appearances up.
- Church. Just because there is a church at every corner in this city.
- Tree. There are still a lot of trees in the city, despite of the efforts.

What if this is my city's unique style, to be illogical and chaotic?

Church

I was in this church few years ago and saw the weak and ruined building which was slowly recovering after being the storehouse for almost 50 years.
My last visit few days ago gave completely different feel: the place is full with power, potency and energy. Church becomes powerful here in Russia.
