Giveaway - Touching the Sky by Tracie Peterson, Autographed

I just wanted to make up for my absence so here's a chance at an autographed copy (and bookmarks) of Tracie Peterson's Touching the Sky . Touching the Sky  is book two of the Land of the Lonestar series. If you enjoy strong women as main characters and historical fiction, specifically Civil War era set in Texas, then this book is for you!

Just for you!
Goodreads synopsis 4+ stars!:
Romantic Adventure from Tracie Peterson
When Laura Marquardt first meets Brandon Reid, their encounter is anything but pleasant. But when the two are seated together at
a dinner party, they soon find that they share similar interests--Laura desires to educate blacks, and Brandon, as a white officer
over colored troops, eagerly supports her cause.
When Laura's sister, Carissa, marries her Confederate beau, Laura finds herself in a difficult situation when she overhears plots to
kill Union soldiers. Though in her heart she feels she should share this information with Brandon, Laura fears she will betray her sister's trust and possibly endanger her sister's life. And when Brandon's motives for pursuing her come into question, her heart is even more conflicted. Where is God leading her?

How do you enter? Simple! Just leave me a comment and your email address. I will have a drawing on Saturday, June 23rd.

To Mock or not to Mock, to Shatter or not to Shatter?

I jumped into the gut-wrenching world of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games right before the movie was released. Then I flew through Catching Fire and was amazed that she could write another blow-me-away ending. I've stayed away from any spoilers for Mocking Jay, but still have friends mentioning that someone dies and I won't like it. So for those of you who read the entire series I ask you this - should I stop after Catching Fire? Will I be missing the grand finale or will I be preserving the characters in my mind before the author does them in? To Mock or not to Mock?

And this one, another 4 1/2 stars on Goodreads, but I'm almost a third of the way in and I feel like I'm prying into the mind of a mental patient - it just feels creepy! Yet, most of the reviews I've read rave about this book.   Is this one of those books where you have to get to a certain point before it becomes worthy of finishing? To Shatter or not to Shatter?

Help me out here readers - reading time is like gold to me and I want to make the best of it.....

And check back next week for a little gift from me......

Buzzworthy - Lisa Grace's ebook Angel in the Shadows for 99 cents! And an Ipad2 Giveaway

What could be better than that? 99 cents for a trendy, recently released ebook AND a chance at winning an Apple Ipad2.

AOL rated Angel in the Shadows  an alternative to their #5 most challenged book - Twilight. An interesting angle that sets Lisa Grace apart as an author is that she believes angels are real. Her interviews are quite controversial and add a fresh look at paranormal fiction.

Angel in the Shadows is a suspensful book about 15 year old Megan who can see angels and demons and their intent to destroy her high-school friends. With the help of Johnny, the angel, she battles Judas, the demon, to save the souls of her friends from eternal destruction

I've had a sticky note on my laptop for a few months now reminding me to order a copy and now it's going to be less than $1 at Amazon.com today in the Kindle ebook section! ASIN# is B0052AI5W8 (The 00 are zero's not oh's.)

And just look at that cover - those eyes! Is he the angel? or the demon?

Author Lisa Grace is almost finished with book two and to celebrate is offering the chance to win an Apple Ipad2 once she hits 10,000 downloads of her ebook version. All you have to do to enter is be a "friend" on her website http://www.lisagracebooks.com/.

Book Review and Giveaway- Beautiful Things Happen When..

I just finished Sheila’s Book and the main thread that sticks with me is that we should trust God, no matter how many times we fail. Sheila explains that trusting God doesn’t mean to just plug away doing His work. It means in everything you do, trust God with all your heart and watch what He will do – so much more than we can accomplish with our own choices. Sheila uses many New and Old Testament examples to develop her point. She digs deep into the life of Joseph, shedding light on how he had no other choice but to trust God when he was thrown in the pit. Everything had been taken away and he was led into slavery, but through his continued trust in God, he became a Pharaoh’s right hand man and was able to save his family from starvation. She also uses Sampson’s story of being forced to his knees by his own bad choices, but given the chance to trust in God again. She wraps it up explaining what Abraham must have gone through, allowing God to lead his life as well. She gives a detailed description of what Abraham must have been feeling when he was told to sacrifice his only son, then given a ram to sacrifice instead. Sheila relates all these examples to our own lives. She encourages us to trust wholeheartedly because, like the others she discussed, we will only care about our relationship with God when our end of days arrives. Sheila’s writing reminds me of a sweet friend whispering in my hear, “Trust, trust, trust….and if you mess up, trust again”

I started my blog in March so that I would be able to review books and challenge my mind. I don’t know if anyone noticed or not but I’ve had this book on there promising a review ever since then. I was reading it the entire time, a little each day. This book was like a big, long hug. It was full of truth, examples, and encouragements, but it was a bit wordy and slow for me. If anyone else might enjoy my copy, just comment below and I’ll draw names. I just know someone out there will enjoy her writing style.

Handmade-Soap Giveaway!!

My life is jam-packed with activities:work, school, the boys, my husband, volunteering in kid's ministry, and fellowship. My calendar can't possibly fit another thing - but I consider it all good! When I finally take a moment to "recharge" myself mentally, I make soap and other bath accessories. Although,it's my goal to run a home based business selling handmade soap and other things like, herb-infused relaxation pillows and bath mits, the actual making of them is how I relax. I just love making things that pamper ladies! I love blessing them something I made with my hands that will transfer comfort to them. The best part about it is making them WITH the ladies. Just two weeks ago, a few ladies:Bobbi,Pam,Bridgette&Kristi and I hosted a "Spa/Craft Night" for 55 ladies from our church and their friends. They learned to make a variety of sugar-scrubs, salt-scrubs, and bath soaks and other things, as well as my favorite-Herbal Scented Goat's milk soap! Since then we've even gotten together to make a funraiser to offer the men of the church to secretly purchase for the ladies a variety of these items. Fun!Fun!Fun! My friend, Bobbi headed up the teaching of scrubs, massage oils, salve, and lipbalm and I am the soapmaker (although she's an expert at that too!). I can't wait to hear if they actually got to fill up the tub, relax and enjoy some of the things we made for them.I can't wait to open the one my husband "secretly" ordered for me (from me-I made it for the fundraiser!) On Feb 28th I will draw a name from my blog and send you this handmade lavender soap and handmade bathmit. I will even emboss your name or initials on the soap! I just want to share this to thank you all for helping me get my blog off the ground. All you have to do is be a follower, comment on this post, and get your tub ready!
