Vintage tag swap - The vintage typewriter tag

Hi again!

Today i will show you my second tag in the the vintage tag swap i participated in.
This one is the Typewriter tag.

This tag has lots and lots of layers and elements. I`ve tried to use up some of my scraps. I am not too good at using my scraps but throw them away....noooo, no, no, no, lol. So finally i got to make use of some of them.

The large gears and the wings and crown are chipboard created using the Tim Holtz, Sizzix bigz dies. And then embossed in several layers. The wings turned out so silky and beautiful. Absolutely loooove them. The heart is a silver metal heart which i coloured red with my ProMarkers. I found that the red colour really stands out.

I got my hands on these cute small glass containers. They are pretty small but makes such a pretty  addition to my creation.

I just wanted to show you a closeup of the gear. I just love how it turned out. I embossed it with three different embossing powders. Silver, copper from Ranger and midnight bronze obsidian from Lindy`s Stamp Gang.

I also love the filligree metal piece. I think it fits beautifully to this tag.

The ephemera is fussycut from a G45 paper.

On this last pic you can see all the different layers.

To finish off my tag i put on some micro beads from Finnabair and some bling here and there. And finally topped it with some seambinding. It was originally brown but i coloured it with a bright red, allmost orange starburst spray from Lindy`s. And i think the colour looks fabulous.

Hope you like my tag, and tomorrow i will post my last tag.
Thanks for visiting me today.

Scraplifting Marta Lapkowska

Hi there everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend out there. I`m sitting here blogging and looking out on the fantastic weather. The sun is shining and it is a whopping 13 degrees. It`s just a bummer that i have to be close to the toilet today, lol. Anyway i get to blog my recent creation at least.

I little while back i asked Marta Lapkowska if i could get permission to scraplift her "Serenity" ATC series. Luckely she gave me her blessing. I was so happy course i love this series and i love her work in general. She is such a sweetheart and i am so grateful for her dedication to help new and upcoming artists with tips and tricks when it comes to beeing creative.

Well here we go. This first picture is the original from Marta. I just loooove this series. The colours, the design....i just totally fell in love with these the moment i layed eyes on them. And those butterflies are so, so beautiful.

Here is my take on the ATCs. Not nearly as beautiful as Marta`s but  i like the way they turned out. I didn`t have the same colours as the originals so i had to make do with my own stash. It`s funny to see the difference in the green colour as Marta used powder to blend with her paste and i used spray to blend with my paste. We have used the exact same colour and paste but mine turned out lighter than hers.

Also...i didn`t have blue embossing powder so i had to improvise with dark brown instead. She also used art sugar to create the glittery effect on her details while i didn`t have that. So i used clear embossing powder with different colour of shimmer for the butterflies and added some Clear Wink of Stella on the dots and text. I know it doesn`t show as my lighting was not the best. I really have to get me one of those light tents, lol.

Below you see some closeups.

Supplylist for my version on the ATCs:

Words from Authentique Petite diction: Pretty

This project was part of a challenge on Facebook in the group of ArJo`s Tag og ATC kos. Where the theme for the challenge was scraplifting.

Just to mention it if you are new to any kind of paperarts: When you "borrow" someone else`s creation in your work. Or if you are inspired by someone in any way, the proper thing to do is to give credit to the person you are inspired by. Either by mentioning their name in your post or even linking up to the actual piece you were inspired by.

With that said. Keep on creating. Meet new friends, help others where you can and give credit when credit is due.

Blue Fern Studios Challenge

Hello Everyone!

For the first time i`m entering a layout challenge. I haven`t created many layouts. Can count them all on one hand, lol. As the deadline for this challenge is i the middle of the night for me, i had some poor light to take pics in. I will take some new ones in the morning. So i`m only posting this one, just so i could manage to enter the challenge in time.

UPDATE:
Below i have posted some new pics and a little description on how i went about it.

Here is the sketch we are working from.

I have to warn you though. This is a picture heavy post, lol.

I started prepping my paper from Blue Fern Studios of course (Petit moments from the Frolic collection), with a thin layer of gesso. Next i used modelling paste with stencils from Prima and The Crafters Workshop randomly placed. I then spritzed it with sprays from Lindy`s Stamp Gang and Ranger.

After everything had dried up i stamped with a text stamp randomly placed. I primed the chipboard with gesso and when dry i spritzed with Perfect pearls Blue Smoke and Distress paint Weathered Wood. I also used Long John`s Silver moonshaddow mist with a brush and painted some areas with it. Allmost every scrapper has probabely tons of scrap paper we can`t afford to throw away in case of later use. Well.... i have lots!!! and now i got to use some lol. I glued on some strips of scrap paper along with some corrugated cardboard, a doily and one vintage ephemera card. Oh i allmost forgot, lol. I also sprinkled some white and black acrylic paint blended with water to make it thinner and easier to apply.

When all the groundwork was finished i started embellishing the whole thing. Chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios off course. Shabby Brick bits and Township collage.

Other supplies used:

Clear glass beads art engredients from Prima
A mix of dark blue, gold and copper microbeads
Wood clock piece, Flowers, and vintage trinkets, all from Prima
From my stash: Lace, organza flower, a tag, wood star, thread and a tag.
Bling from Prima and Staz

Some more closeups following.

It took me some time since i actually have no idea what i`m doing, lol. That`s how it is when i overthink things. Anyone suffering from the same problem, huh? I have turned to Anna Rogalska`s creations for inspiration. Love her work.

Well, i hope you are still hanging on, lol. It got to be a long post. Not so often i do that. Hopefully it made some sense to you. If not, don`t hesitate to ask. I will try and answer as best as i can.

Now i only have to wish you a great weekend.

WSBT round 2 - Layout category

Hi there!

Just popping in to share with you my last creation for round 2 in the World Scrap Battle and Tournament. It`s a layout of my wedding and i just have to warn you that this is a picture-heavy post.

As our wedding theme were light blue i decided to use that colour for my layout. I love how the pics turned out and we had so much fun shooting them.

The paper is Parisian Anthology collection from Pink Paislee. Love the resist in the paper which you will see on a couple of pics further down. I started with Art Basics modelling paste from Prima using the burlap stencil by Tim Holtz and the moroccon lattice stencil from KaiserKraft. When dry, i used Broken china distress ink to frame the area of the photo. Next i spritzed with Blue Hawaiian blue from Lindy`Stamp Gang.

I then watered down some white and some black acrylic paint to make it thinner, and dripped it on the paper. I also dripped the blue from Lindy`s as well. The heart is Prima, Amore aqua coll. and the rose is WOC.

This Resin rose element from Prima was a bit ruined but i figured i could still use it. I painted the middle of the big flower (Meredith dove from Prima) to get rid of the "wrong" colour and gave the big rose (Arcadian coll. from Prima) some stickles diamond glitter. The memories element is also from Prima.

The Always and forever chipboard text is from Blue fern studios. I have painted it with some light blue acrylic paint and adhered it with some dimentional pillows.

I and my amazing husband.

Below are a couple of closeups, of the gorgeous shimmer from the sprays by Lindy`s. And you can also see the resist in the paper as i mentioned earlier. I just sprayed the mist and then used a damp cloth to dry it off, and the letters came forward as i never had sprayed them. Awesome, don`t you think?

I`m opleased with how this LO turned out. I still have lots to learn. But it is so much fun creating layouts.

Hope you like this as much as i do. Thanks for visiting me today.

Final entry in round 1 of the World Scrap Battle and Tournament - Mixed Media

Hi there!

This last entry in round 1 is a small ring binder from BoBunny of which i have altered the front cover. But before i start i just want to warn you that this is a picture heavy post :-)

I liked the look of the spine, so i left it the way it was. I started gluing on the mesh tape and used modelling paste from Prima with stencils from Prima and The Crafters Workshop. Next i adhered the chipboard pieces. The leaf chippie is from Joanna Sheen and the big one on the left, is Blue Fern Studio.

Next i adhered all the metal pieces. The dragonflie in the right upper corner, the cogwheels in the middle of the page and the clockpiece with the bee on top. and some other small pieces.

Next i gessoed the whole thing with white gesso.

I then sprayed the cover with sprays from Lindy`s Stamp Gang and from Shimmerz Paints. I also used some H2O for the red spots. To make the stenciled patterns pop a bit more i used my finger to lightly rub some gesso on top of some pieces.

I just love the shimmery look of this. Sadly the pics doesn`t do it justice.

To finish it off i added some small bling crystals, here and there, and paper letters to complete the words. I couldn`t find small letters in the right size though, so i had to use my Dymo and make some myself.

Well that`s it. Round 2 is allready in progress and next sunday i will be ready with more creations from the World Scrap Battle and Tournament.

Have a great weekend everyone!

World Scrap Battle - Layout

Hi there everyone!

Today i have for you the layout i created for the World Scrap Battle and Tournament.
I`m fairly new to making layouts and the theme was a problem for me, making this one. I found out i just should use the inspiration photo itself as a focal point on my layout. So here it is:

As i was going to use distress ink and stencil to make my own backround. I found that i had to use watercolour paper to make sure it could handle the saturation. The only thing i didn`t like is that it became too bulky and no matter how much glue i used to adhere it to the cardstock, it didn`t get less bulky. Either way i had a lot of fun trying out some techniques that are new to me. I actually like how it turned out all though there were a lot of greater entries by others in the battle.

The pic i adhered with 3d coushins so make it stand a bit more out from the paper. The stencil i have used is the checkerboard stencil from Prima Finnabair collection. Which i used together with the Modelling paste, also Prima. To get the yellow colour i added a couple of small pinches of Golden sleighbells magicals from Lindy`s Stamp Gang.

The sentiment is chipboard sticker from my own stash. I don`t remember the company i`m sorry to say.

This star is a star-tag which i embossed with all white embossing powder and then added som black glitter embossing to it. I coudn`t catch the glittery stuff but i like how it turned out.

All the other papers and embellies are from a class i took by Irit Landgraf earlier this year. These have been sponsored by Hip Kit Club if my senile brain aren`t too far off, lol. I think it`s fabulous no matter what.

That`s it for today. Tomorrow i`ll be back with my last creation for round 1 and it is in the Mixed Media category. This one i`m fairly satisfied with, so i have saved it for last.

Thanks again for visiting me and hope you have enjoyed your stay!
