Puutarhakeiju tekstiiliveistos - Garden fairy

No nyt se on valmis! Paverpol -aineella tehty puutarhakeiju sai hamosen jo jokin aika sitten, ja tänään valmistui jalusta. Valoin jalustan alaosaan betonilaatan, ja upotin siihen putken. Keijussa oleva tanko sopii putkeen, ja nyt keiju lentelee paljon korkeammalla kuin se olisi maahan upotettuna! Jalustakin on tehty kankaalla päällystäen, ja nuo vartta kiertävät kukkaset ovat silkkikukkia, jotka käsittelin moneen kertaan Paverpolilla. Keiju on 50 cm pitkä, ja jalustoineen 130 cm korkea. Nyt vain odotellaan kevättä, että keiju pääsee puutarhaan liihottelemaan, mutta ennen sitä se menee kansalaisopiston kevätnäyttelyyn muutamaksi viikoksi.

Now she is finished! The garden fairy got skirt some time ago, but today I finished the base! I made a concrete slab on the bottom of the base, and in the middle of it stands a tube in which the rod in the fairy fits perfectly. Now she flies a lot higher than she would have with the rod sticked in the ground! The base is also covered with fabric, and the flowers are slik flowers covered several times with Paverpol. The fairy is 50 cm (20") tall, and with base 130 cm (4' and 3"). Now she is just waiting for the spring so she gets out in the garden, but before that she will go in the folk college art exhibition for a few weeks.

Tekstiiliveistoksia - Fabric sculptures

Olen ollut parina iltana tekstiiliveistoskurssilla, ja se on muuten hauskaa! Metallirungon päälle tehdään muotoa alumiinifoliosta, ja sen päälle aletaan kietoa kovetusaineeseen kastettuja kangassuikaleita. Kovetusaine on nimeltään Paverpol, ja se kovettuu tosi kovaksi, ja veistoksen voi tehdä myös ulkona kestäväksi!

Tässä on minun työni - tietysti keiju.
Joka on vielä vähän kesken, jonkinlaista liehuavaa hamosta olen hänelle suunnitellut.

These two are from other students, about finished.

I have been on fabric sculping course on two evenings, and oh it is such fun! There is an armature made of metal wire, and then aluminium foil that makes the forms. Then fabric strips are dipped in the hardening medium, and wrapped around the sculpture. The hardening medium is called Paverpol and the sculpture is really hard, it can even be made hardy enough to be put outside!
