Everything is so slow...

Tässä tämä nyt on viritettynä seinälle. Kiitos vaan neuvoista venytysvirittimien hommaamisessa. Niillä tulee kyllä hyvää jälkeä. Nämä tulivat siis Villavyyhdistä ja tällaiset ovat kyllä kaiketi ainoa mahdollisuus venytellä suorareunaisia kappaleita. Rautakaupasta olisi varmaan löytynyt myös apua, mutta siellä tulee aina hulluksi, enkä sitäpaitsi ehtinyt/jaksanut ikinä. Lähinnä ajatuskin rautakauppaan menemisestä väsyttää, koska siellä tulee siis ihan hulluksi joka kerta.
Now I have blocked this scarf on the wall. Thanks for all the advise where to find the blocking wires. They are really good and propably the only possibility to block straight pieces. These I got from Villavyyhti.

Toisella puolella kuvio pysyi kasassa...
On the other side the pattern was fine...
Mutta toisella puolella se on siirtynyt silmukan verran sivuun puolessa välissä... Tällainen kuvio on vähän liian monotoninen ja sitten sitä pitäisi kuitenkin vahtia koko ajan.
But on the other side it has moved one stitch forward in the middle... This kind of a pattern is a little bit too simple and yet you have follow it all the time.
Lapaset edistyvät hyvin hitaasti ja niissäkin näyttää olevan yksi stiplu.
The mittens are getting on slowly and there seems to be one mistake too.
Kissanäyttelystä hommatut huumehiiret eli valeriana-kissanminttuhiiret olivat suosittuja.
The valeriana-catnip mice I got from the catshow were a success.

Kaapo ja Jaffa ovat aivan innoissaan. Minä en. Nuo saavat hajalle ihan mitä tahansa. Ihan hulluja ja kamalan painavia. Ja spurttailevat ympäriinsä.
Kaapo and Jaffa are totally excited. I am not. Those two can break anything. They are totally grazy and terribly heavy. And they are spurting around.
Pentuja siis syntymässä any time. Nämä ovat Sylvin kolmannet ja viimeiset. Rauha taloon.
So the kitties are about to be born. These are Sylvis third litter and also the last. Peace to the house.

Liskohuivi

Tässäpä vihdoin tämä lainereunainen huivi. Silmukkamäärät reunaan on otettu Multnomah-huivista, muuten on vähän erilainen.
Here is finally the waveborder scarf. The border is taken from Multnomah scarf, but otherwise it is not exactly the same.
Lankaa kului 2 x 100 g (yht 800 m) ja jäljelle jäi 2 g. Tämä on kyllä omituista, sillä huivi ei ole yhtään isompi kuin ne, joihin on mennyt vain 400 m.... Tosin, sitä ei ole vielä kasteltu. Enkä ehkä kastelekaan, koska sitten se tietty ulottuu idästä länteen. Paitsi, että mitä sitten kuuluu tehdä? Prässätä? Ei sitä ehkä voi noinkaan jättää. Pöh. Mietin sitä huomenna.

This took 2 x 100 g (800 m all together) and there was 2 g left. This is somewhat surprising because the scarf is not any bigger than those that are made of 400 m.... It has not been soaked yet though. And maybe I will not do it because then it will reach from east to west. But what then? Iron it? It can not be left like that. Baa. I´ll think about it tomorrow.

I should get those blocking wires, but where do you find them and I don´t even know what they are called in finnish?
Niin sanotut lapset olivat syömässä. Nämä ovat periaatteessa aikuisia, mutta syötyään liikaa eivät yleensä kykene muuhun kuin retkottamaan sohvalla ja katselemaan piilokuvia.

So called kids were here for dinner. These are basicly adults but when you give them too much food they are only able to look at magic eye-books.

Uusi yritys

Tämä on nyt päähänpinttymä. Pakkohan sen on onnistua, on sitä nyt kudottu vaikeampiakin asioita... Siis yksi typerä lainereuna. Taistoon!

I am obsessed with this. Surely I have to be able to knit this, I have done projects far more difficult... It is a stupid wave border. Charge!

Nytmenihermot

Tämä huivi lähestyy 400 silmukan rajaa ja ajattelin tehdä siitä sellaisen Multomah-reunaisen. Mutta kas, se ei minulta jotenkin onnistu, vaan sekoan aina jossain välissä. Nyt olen purkanut 8 riviä jo kahteen kertaan ja alan uskoa. Kaivoin hyllystä tuon "reuna-kirjan" ja katsotaan löytyykö siitä jotain...

This scarf is getting close to 400 stitches and I was planning to make there a Multomah-edge. But hmpfh, it doesn´t seem to work for me and I get lost at some point. Now I have ripped 8 rows twice and I am beginning to believe. I dug up that edge-book and let´s see if I find something there.

Mokka is wonderful cat. The face and legs are almost black yet brown. The eyes are bright blue. She will be 10 years. Time is fying...

Tässäpä yritystä... pitsinen bolero ylhäältä alaspäin. Jep. Aika paljon noita karttoja yhtäaikaa luettavaksi... Katsotaan nyt kuinka tässä käy. Aivot aika finaalissa tähän aikaan vuodesta. Tässä pitää esimerkiksi ymmärtää oikean ja vasemman ero ja se meni just äsken ihan väärin... enkä jaksa purkaa. Vaikka pitäisi.

Trying here... lace bolero from the top down. Yes. Quite many maps to be read all at the same time... Let´s see how this will end. My brains are quilte finished by this time of the year. Here you have to understand the difference between left and right and I just mixed them a while ago. And I should rip it... But I´m too tired.
This yarn is a new aquaintance. A new brand by the local yarn store Menita. Cotton Dream 100% Egyptian cotton 50g/120m. Very nice I think, cool and slightly shining.

Nämä löytyivät Tapiolasta Kiinalaisten ruukkujen myyntipisteestä 5 euroa kpl.

These I found for 5 euros each in Tapiola.

Clapo-ktus

Clapo-Ktus (raverly link) ...Clapoktus... Claptus...Bacotis... whatever...

Huivi kuitenkin. Calpotiksen ja Baktuksen risteytys. Oikein hyvä juttu.
Lankana Rowan Bamboo soft, 100% bambu, 3 kerää (102m/kerä). Langan valmistus on kuulemma lopettu, mutta sitä on Menitassa Soukassa. Painava ja valuva lanka, viileän tuntuinen ja ihana. Kunhan ensin on saanut kudottua sen... Tämä kuuluu niihin tapauksiin, jotka koostuvat monesta täysin irrallisesta säikeestä, jotka sitten herkästi hajovat erilleen kutoessa ja muuta mukavaa. Varsinainen hupi on kuitenkin päättely. Tätä ei päättele erkkikään. Pakko ottaa ohut silmäneula ja päätellä joka säie erikseen jonnekin sinne väleihin = tulee hulluksi.
Reunan valkoinen lanka on joku omituinen vanha, missä on helmiä mukana. Sopii tuohon hommaan.

Hybrid of Clapotis and Baktus. Very nice.
Yarn I used is Rowan Bamboo soft, 100% bamboo, 3 skeins (112 yds/skein). They do not make it any more but I run into it in the local yarn store Menita.
This yarn is heavy, soft and feels cool, actually very nice. Once you get done with it... This is one those that is made of separate plies/thraeds/strings that easily split. The real fun is to weave in the ends. You have to take a small needle and do each ply separately = kills you.
Border yarn is an old one that has little beads in it. Fits here perfecty I think.

Söderskär lighthouse

Viime sunnuntaina kävimme päiväretkellä Söderskärin majakalla. Noissa ulkosaariston paikoissa on jotain niin rauhoittavaa... Kaukana kavala maailma...
Last sunday we took a daytrip to Söderskär lighthouse. There is something so calming in those remote places in outer archipelago. Far from the evil world....
Matkakutomisena oli Watershed, vedenjakaja. Mies väittää etten näe koskaan mitään kun aina kudon. Voi noita miehiä... vähän ne tietävät.
My knit to go was Watershed. My husband says that I never see anything because I knit all the time. Those men... little do they know...

Venytys - Stretch

Kuinka pingottaa pitsihuivi monikissataloudessa?
Aiemmista kokemuksista viisastuneena päätin kokeilla seuraavaa:
Odotetaan, että kissat menevät päiväunille ja että ne ovat syvässä tajuttomuuden tilassa. Sitten levitetään huivi seinälle. Hahhaa.
Ennen kuin nauran yhtään lisää pitäisi varmaan odottaa, että ne heräävät ja päättävät mitä tehdä seinällä roikkuvalle jutulle...

How to block a lace shawl in a multiple cat household? Learning from the previous experiences I decided to do the following: Wait untill the cats a taking a nap and check that they are deeply unconscious. Then just strech the shawl on the wall. Hahhaa. Before I laugh any more I should probably wait until they wake up and decide what to do to the item hanging on the wall...

Päättely - Bind-off

Maian (Raverly) päättelyä varten halusin löytää jonkun uuden tavan. Kas, huivin suunnittelijan sivuilta löysin tämän, jota hän omien sanojensa mukaan on käyttänyt uskollisesti siitä asti kun oppi sen. Jostain syystä en saa sitä sivua napattua linkiksi, mutta se löytyy täältä ja päivä on July 15, 2010. Samasta lähteestä löytyy muitakin hyviä opetuskuvauksia, kuten kuinka lisätä helmiä ym.
To bind off Maia (Raverly link) I wanted to find a new way to do it. Hah, I found one on Maia´s designers page. I think it must be good because she says she´s been using it ever since she found it. For some reason I can not make a link to the actual page but I can be found here on date July 15, 2010. From the same source you can find other excellent tutorial like how to add beads to knitted items etc.

3. ...ja kudo ne yhteen silmukoiden takaosasta.
3. ...and knit them together through the back loops.
4. Toista sama muutama sata tai tuhat kertaa riippuen shaalin koosta... haha.
4. Repeat this for a few hundred of thousand of times depending on the size of the shawl... haha.
