Back 2 Hometown, Back 2 Babyfood..

I have been missing in action here again for the past few weeks as I am back to my hometown house for some peaceful recovery of my gastro reflux ailment. 'Missing' because my hometown house has no internet connection. Hope I will recover soon enough to be back here in Penang with my boys for some blogging fun.

This recent gastro problem is a very bad experience for me after my RA. All the enjoyment of eating nice food has turn into a nightmare. I have not been eating rice for nearly a month already. All my stomach could hold now are just soft food or you can call it baby food as I only eat a small amount like what a toddler eats. I have to supplement my daily meals with some nutritional milk products and eating 6 to 7 times a day is really getting on my nerves. I will just pray that I will be well enough to eat a normal meal in time to come again and live life to the fullest.

I really miss all my buddies here in the blogsphere and will be sharing my few cents worth of life happenings here when I get my health back.

Guy A has just finish his business appointment with someone whose office is somewhere in a block of flats unfamiliar to him away from the main road. After driving out less than a hundred yards into a narrow lorong or street while trying to find a way out into the main road, Guy A realise that he is on the wrong direction on a one way street after seeing the position of the parked cars along the street. So he quickly turn into the nearest right lane to turn back. As he was reversing to turn back 2 uniformed policemen on 2 motobikes were right at his side window and signal him to get out of the car. Guy A show them his identity card and told them he is not familiar with the streets here and he is trying to find his way out. Instead of showing this poor guy out the 2 policemen ask the guy " APA MACAM?" meaning " WHAT NOW?" For those who understand the word "APA MACAM" will know its true meaning. Guy A will be thinking like this....to give or not to give.......give means I was being robbed.....don't give, I have to be summon to court which will cost even more and my precious time. These "APA MACAM" robbers knows what they are getting. There is no right way out for those "fishes" they have trapped or caught. You and I know the ending........

Missing My CNY Cookies........

Every year I will bake some of my favorite cookies for Chinese New Year. But this year I make none due to a number of reasons. Firstly, my health fails me due to a comeback of my arthritis (RA) attack rendering me weak with a swollen knee and painful joints. My recent change of medication is also giving me some heart stopping moments. To add to the sufferings my ungrateful maid pack her bags and ran away with her Indonesian boyfriend on Christmas eve leaving me in a jumble with household chores to slave over and a cancelled housemoving planned earlier to a later date.

I am just back from my visit to my rheumatologist in KL. A steroid jab and syringing out nearly 50 ml of fluid in my knee joint brought some relief. Hopefully my swelling and pain will not come back or else I will have to face a bleak CNY. I bought some cookies back from my hometown but my boys rant it is not as good as my homemake ones. So everybody is missing my cookies yeah? I miss baking them too. Here is looking back at the cookies I baked last year....

The salad served without the hardboiled egg and muffin.

These days I do come across very bad customer service in most popular fast food joint. The reasons being these restaurants employ mostly foreigners which are not well trained in the preparation of food besides their poor command of English and poor attitude towards problem solving. Just cannot blame them as they are not highly educated and lowly paid for their overstress kind of work plus the lack of training.

Recently, passing by a fastfood joint near a supermarket, son and I decided to have some light snacks. I order a sandwich and son H a set of salad that comes with a muffin and a hardboiled egg. When the salad arrived son discovered that the said egg as stated in menu is missing. Call the waiter. He went to the kitchen to check and after sometime he is not convince that the salad comes with a hardboil egg. Okay, we ask him to bring the menu, show him that there is actually egg with the big pic in the menu. He went into the kitchen again. See them discussing among themselves. What's the problem this time ? He came back after few minutes and told us there is no egg in the kitchen.( WHAT? no egg? then go and buy in the big supermarket opposite..doesn't take you a minute to get one though..I said to myself ) Then he ask us whether they can replace the egg with a small plate of fruit salad. We have to agree then. So comes the fruit salad. But where is the muffin which is also missing. So we call the waiter again and ask for our muffin. He gave me another blank look making me want to smack him on the head and wanting to blurt out .."Don't tell me that famous KRogers that comes everything with a muffin is out of muffin?" Seeing my unhappy look he went into the kitchen again. This time I am not going to ask him for the menu but I call another smarter looking waitress and ask for the Manager! The nice guy but timid manager listen attentively to our problem and he quickly apologise and ask what choice of muffin do we order to which we told him the waiter did not even ask! He apologise again and said he will give us the salad for FREE and he brought us 2 muffins of different flavors and told us we will get our hardboil egg in 5 mins with no extra charge plus a 20% discount on our overall orders....That's kind enough for the bad service.

The management should know for such bad services their business will surely fail badly. Training your staff well before putting them out to work is of utmost importance as we do expect good service if not excellent for the 10 percent service charge we put into their pockets.

Hang On..Buddies..!

For the past few days or so I have been experiencing a sudden cloud of gloom hanging over me. I just would not want to blog or worst still open up my lappy and have no idea what I want to do just looking at the white screen. My mind blank as a white sheet of paper, my body and soul longing for something else off my normal routine. Just a short way of saying I have not been myself lately.

All these change of winds' direction might be due to some rough rides that I had at this period. I have not been feeling too well as my knees and ankle is painful and swollen again dashing my hopes of a winter holiday this Christmas, my anxieties and disappointments I have to go through this period with every matters related to moving to a new place, and so on. I am due for another long journey to KL tomorrow for my doctor's appointment. So to my buddies who have been swinging by over here, please hang on til I get my body and soul back here again in a few days. Hope it will be soon and thanks for dropping by.

Will Still Be MIA...And So So Tired...

I have a very tiring day today again. Just for 3 days in a stretch have been like a watchdog overseeing my condo renovation. After a day of public hoilday where they are not allow to do any work, the delivery men came with a washing machine which they said will not go through the back washing bay door nearly giving me a heart attack thinking of the headache of breaking down the steel framed door. In the end after much anxiety it could go through after finding it as the fault of the careless man who could not even give a correct measurement.

The circuit board had a few explosion today with some exploded bulbs after the electrician had finish fixing all the lightings giving me another shock of my life. Had me running around calling for the person in charge for help and this so call electrical engineer ask me to pay him rm 120 to fix it saying it was a sensitive smart home system. He give me some lectures on how knowlegeble he was on the subject..blah..blah. After paying him the big sum and when he was few hours gone, there was another explosion in the circuit board. So there will be another long day again and I had to to rush back hometown and to the big city for another important wedding dinner before I could be back here again.

Will be back here ASAP in 4 to 5 days time.....

Pay More For Gas..........

Two days ago, the price of petrol was without any prelude or signs .... the usual sudden waves of our government implementations that comes like a silent tsunami......was raised from RM 1.92 to RM 2.70. Every Malaysian now has to fork out more of their already tight budget due to rising food prices to pay an arm and a leg for their gas.

The government said that they will help the poor by giving rebates of RM625 per year for cars below 2,000 cc. That is RM 52.08 per month.

But how much does it helps.......Do I consider myself poor because I own a 1,000 cc car..? And would the rebates give much consolations to the poor...? Just check this calculations here......

Your one month usage in the past......Rm 128.2 (66.8 lit pumped)

Your one month average NEW price..Rm 180.28 (66.8 lit pumped)

So if your average consumption of fuel is more than Rm 128.2 per month, you will be paying more with the rebate or Rm 625 per year. And this calculation only works for those driving vehicles below 2.000 cc like me.

Those paying less are these gas producing countries..........

Looks Like Chicken...But Is NOT Chicken......!

Wonder how many of you had seen this in your mail. I got this from a friend. Looks like some Asian restaurants are very clever in creating dishes that looks like chicken but is definitely NOT chicken........scroll down here to see what I meant.......

Midnight Rendezvous With A Jammed DoorLock......

The doorlock at Son H's room had some problems for quite sometime already..... and nobody including myself seems to care.....because most of the time after some tricks in twisting the keys......it will open as usual. Then yesterday, when Son H was going to enter his room after his midnight football program....the door would not open after many tries at twisting the keys......So everyone including myself and the maid took turns trying to be a picklock thief (seems so easy in the movies eh?) but to no avail after almost 2 long hours past midnight....with a broken hammer head to boot....not to say the tempers flaring among us and the sweats and anxieties to get this door to open.....

So my last resort was to tell my sons to kick the damn door open with whatever they had..........Son R tried with his heavy build body strength but no result and son H...the lanky one to my surprise gave one big kick with his long thin legs and the door flung open to my delight......look at these pics I took this morning.....

With all these tools on hand....still could not be a pickdoor thief and the result we got is a broken hammer head after 2 hours of prying.......!

So we had learnt our lessons here....always get your doorlock repaired before you were lock out of your room for good......in the middle of the night.
