'Damn. After hearing this project develop in bits and pieces over the last few years through ipod headphones, and on hijacked stereos at parties, finally listenin to the whole thing start to finish was incredible. It sounds as good through headphones as it does on a massive stereo, but the “listen without distraction” tag on the inlay hinted at a headphones vibe for the first listen.

If I had to sum this recording up in a word, it would have to be... apocalyptic. There's not much i've heard that summons up such desolate images. Theres the image conjured at one point of a giant planetiod somewhere in the solar system (or beyond?) rolling out of orbit and slowly (but inexorably) making its way towards earth. And i'm not talking about some mere asteriod either. I'm talkin about something Mars sized (maybe it is Mars, who knows? Its grey/blue in my mind though), an unstoppable force meeting a not so immovable object. After it hits Earth we'll probably spin out of orbit as well, annihilating more planets or merely ending up vaporised once we hit the Sun.

Of course theres more layers than this...as well as cosmic apocalypse we have a more human apocalypse...a kind of musical nuclear winter. This is most evident in the track Meggido, which reminds me at points of Penderecki's "Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima", mainly in theme but musically in the crescendo of dissonant feedback(?) in the middle. Total devastation.

Then, near the end of this track, it ceases to be a threnody and becomes more of a requiem, almost triumphant in a crushingly somber way. Its hard to describe but this part of the piece uplifts and gives hope while at the same time being one of the most depressing points on the record!

Searchlights I had heard before from the promo, and works well in context. The fact that the "head" (main theme) is returned to at the end of the piece after a long interlude is referential of the jazz idiom, but overall it feels more in the avant garde vein. The feel i get with this album is that the songs are too distinct to be considered a "one song in 4 parts" deal, but yet it feels like an instrumental concept album, where themes are often referenced and feels revisited. Put another way, it feels like 4 movements of a classical piece.

Then the Sun Ra cover, which is a departure in both style and instrumentation. While the rest of the album felt to me like it had more of an avant garde "classical" drone approach, this track (obviously) is more rooted in free jazz and psychedelia. Also the fact that its no longer a one person project brings in the element of collective improvisation, with both vocals and sax taking (i assume) improvised solos at the same points as the solos in the original. This makes the whole feel of the piece more chaotic than the rest of the album, which is a good thing. Here other "free radicals" are introduced to freely improvise over the soundscapes.

While it does retain the dark feel of the rest of the album, I can't help viewing it as distinct from the other 4 tracks. Maybe, like Sabbaths Into the Void, this is the follow on from the bittersweet ending of Meggido and thus the soundtrack to the survivors of Earths apocalypse fleeing to the "other worlds"...whether they find freedom waiting there or only doom we shall have to wait and see. Keen to show the Jazz school cats this one.

Wow. That was longwinded. Not sure how you’d pigeon hole this stylisticly, but the words ‘ambient’, ‘drone’, ‘soundscape’, ‘experimental’ pop up. Obviously with this sort of music you can go so deep into the texture and depth of sound, and thats what really makes this record.

Experimental, to be sure, but theres some chronically dark shit on here! Actually made me feel insecure...like there was nothing but nuclear charred wasteland outside. If you like your Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Neurosis, Sunn0))) and the like, definately check it out.'

Historia Wintermoon 1995 - 1997 Początki zespołu, końcem 1997 w zimowej scenerii zespól zarejestrował pierwszy poważny numer „Living Necrosis”. 1998 23.07 zespół, nagrywa trzyutworowe demo w OTD Krosno. Na demo’98 znalazły się utwory: Living Necrosis, Master of Iron i The Messenger plus 3 intra. 1999 5 lipca rozpoczęła się sesja nagraniowa materiału „Deadtime”. Nagranie ukonczono końcem wrzesnia 1999. 2000 - 2001 W lipcu doszło do rejestracji 5 nowych utworów na materiał "Underground Screaming" ale pozostały one nie dokończone. W międzyczasie ukazała się w miesięczniku Metal Hammer bardzo dobra recenzja „Deadtime”. 2002 W lutym 2002 ukazał sie gotowy materiał "Underground Screaming" . 25 września w Mega Tonie zespół nagrał kolejny materiał, chodzi o ‘Alive In Studio’, zawiera 11 numerów, w tym 4 całkiem nowe plus cover Manowar – „Gods Made Heavy Metal”. Istnieją tylko 2 kopie tego materiału. 2003 W marcu ukazała się dobra recenzja naszego Underground Screaming w Thrash’em All. 2004 Nagranie nowego materiału w studio. 9 i 11 czerwca w dębickim Chinook Studio, nadano mu tytuł „Heading For Nowhere”. 2005 W kwietniu 2005 ukazała sie składanka Rise for Victory vol.4 z naszym udzialem - utwór Forbidden Love. Ponadto po ponad 7 latach od nagrania "demo 98" zostało "wydane" na CD jako że wcześniej jedynym jego nośnikiem była kaseta magnetofonowa. Liczne pozytywne recenzje „Heading For Nowhere”. 2006 Zgrany został cały materiał koncertowy z VHS na DVD, w sumie wyszło nam tego 2 h 30 min. 2007 Pozyskanie stałego basisty Martina. 2008 Zmontowaliśmy do kawałka „Forbidden Love” teledysk. Nagranie nowego materiału "Beyond The World" w studio Chinook w Dębicy, który ujrzał światło dzienne w czerwcu 2008. "

Cold Blank Stare is my solo black metal recording project. I started this in 2005 to do exactly what I wanted to do and express exactly what I wanted to express without any compromise or comeuppance to anyone else. My original concept was to have traditional second wave black metal music with non-traditional lyrics for black metal. This originally manifested itself as political, leaning left (which is how I lean). This project was known as Antihuman in its most infantile of stages.

The first EP Humanity Will Come Undone was released in 2008. This was a crude and mediocre attempt at the concept I had laid out. The music is basically old Mayhem/Darkthrone worship with one slow Xasthur-esque DSBM track, and a ridiculous industrial intro. The lyrics were my biggest failure, as they were positive and humanist in nature, covering the topics of atheism, anti-racism, and world peace. All things I believe strongly in. But I realized that I actually detest when other musicians integrate their politics into their music, regardless of their position (I can tolerate it when it's a position I agree with). I have and will always prefer apolitical music. It's because of these ham-fisted attempts at idealizing, that I am lumped in with loose associations such as RABM (Red and Anarchist Black Metal). RABM is fucking great, and I support their cause as a listener, but I do not want my music to be associated with a political movement, as it were. And I've never thought of myself as either a communist or an anarchist-I stand alone as an island unto myself.

From this point out, unless a political topic burns so deeply in my soul that it has to come out, I plan to make the lyrics apolitical in favor of abstract/personal/whatever the fuck I want to write. The only thing that will be remotely political will be continued expressions of atheism, a topic near to my soul. There will be no satanism, no juvenile evil, no dungeons and dragons. Harsh reality is a topic I explored on the full length The Human Condition: Insights Into Madness, which was released in July of 2011.

I also plan to explore more esoteric musical aspects, such as dissonances, polyrhythms, noise, as well as crust/d-beat type expressions, different vocalizations, doom metal influences, etc. Basically, I'm not limiting this to "old Norway worship", but there still will be a chunk of that, because I enjoy doing that.

I intend to make all of my music free of charge with digital distribution through this blog. There will likely be no physical distribution going forward.
