Quiltalong Comes Together and Scratch Top is Done

Tonight I decided to sew some of my quiltalong blocks together into rainbow form like I had laid it out previously. I have more blocks left and am undecided if I will do another one or add to this one, but I was happy to have it come together! All those colors make me smile!
More red fabric came for Scratch from ebay so I could finish off the borders. The red was not quite the right red....I added it anyway and hopefully it won't be too noticable, but I won't lose any sleep over it. I found the matching backing fabric at Hancocks of Padukah online for $2.49 a yard! It is so scrumptious! Finally have another top for Ros!
I also cut some more pieces for the Pineapple Blossom blocks that I will continue working on. Been watching Ghosthunters tonight while doing all this sewing...creepy but compelling!

Another Layout for Nine Patches and Joy Luck is Started

This month's Schnibble is Joy Luck! The name of it comes from the movie "The Joy Luck Club" which happens to be one of my favorite books...I love Amy Tan! I decided to go ahead and do it in Christmas fabric for a gift...I am using Wrap it Up fabric from Connecting Threads. This one takes 80 charm squares and some background fabric...we got it all cut last night and I just started sewing it this morning. You can see I have my handy dandy Angler on my machine again because it helps with the snowball corners...I hate drawing all those lines! I will get more of this done today despite an afternoon appointment with my son. As to who will get this one when it is done I am thinking Kathy's sister Kelly might like it. Love working on Christmas presents in July! I just counted all my Schnibbles pictures and it looks like next month will be the last one...I am really going to miss doing a Schnibble a month. It has really helped brighten up my months despite our lousy economy. A little good news would be nice, but since the world isn't providing that right now, I will take a Schnibbles!
I also tried laying out some of the nine patch and snowball blocks in a diagonal format. I am not good without a pattern! I don't like how the nine patches line up up and down and the snowballs too. I can't see a way to put this diagonal with the two blocks that is going to alternate..it seems like a mathmatical thing and I am so not mathmatical. Anyone have any suggestions which will make this work better? I will keep playing otherwise because I know there is a way...smile.

A Rainbow of QuiltAlong Blocks

Also played with some of my quiltalong blocks...am liking this too...I wonder what it would look like with the colors going diagonally instead of straight? Hmmm...may have to try layout number two!

Quilt-Along for July (done early, posted in July--I hope!)

Look at the nice stack of Quilt-Along nine patch and snowball blocks I have made since the start of the Quilt-Along! This doesn't even include the ones I just finished for July! Here are my July blocks (done the end of June...this is my first delayed post so you get some crafty news of me while I am visiting Wisconsin and picking up my son!)
Lots of purples here so now every color of the rainbow is represented and I can't wait to play with them on the wall. I think I have more than enough now to make a quilt or two...
Maybe later on tonight I will go up and play and take pictures so I will have another post for you while I am gone :) Happy Forth of July all!

Flock of Triangles, Quiltalong and Betsy

I wanted you to see how well my Betsy Schnibbles matches my bedroom! We got it hung up above the bed along with some dark colored curtains to keep out the Arizona summer sun!
The bed could be made a little neater, but I wouldn't want to shock anyone since most of the time it isn't even made anymore. (shh, don't tell!)

Today I sewed for several peaceful hours while listening to "The Lightning Thief" was a fabulous day! I went ahead and did my quiltalong blocks with yellow since I was in the yellow for the flock of triangles quilt. Aren't they cheery looking?

Added several more rows to my flock of triangles quilt and you can see Jade kitty was on it before the third picture was snapped (and Rosie too but I chased her off for this photo). I ran out of white fabric so I need to run and get some more so I can finish this one up. Not sure how many more rows I will do, just gonna play it by ear or until I run out of the triangles I have cut up!
Back to work tomorrow...sure was a fun five days of no work!

Red Quiltalong Blocks Done

I didn't wind up making curtains...wound up picking some up along with some new rods and with the help of Randy I got them hung up this afternoon. I think I may wind up buying two more panels since they are almost exactly the right size and I like them bunched up more. Leave it to me to guess and not measure first! The chocolate brown drapes look great against the robin's egg blue walls. I can't wait to get back my Betsy Schnibbles from Ros because I think that is going up on the wall and voila--the bedroom appears decorated!

I also did some cleaning in the bedroom and bathroom up there and my bike again today...then I happily sat down and sewed up six snowball blocks and six nine patches in shades of red for the Quiltalong I have been participating in.

Saturday Morning Sewing!

First here is me in my Mickey Mouse T-shirt at Imperial Beach on the pier. Love that ocean, loved the day with my love..it was the perfect end to our Disney vacation!
Tada, the April Nine Patch and Snowball blocks for the Quiltalong! These whip up fast from my strips...should have had a bit more variety, but overall I am happy with them! I am getting quite a pile of these blocks!

This eight inch Amish Windmill block is a suprise for someone (won't say who in case she reads my blog) but I am just making one block and others are making others and eventually it will become a gorgeous quilt and find its way to a special lady! I will post a pic when it is complete.

I need to get the next Schnibbles (Tag Along) cut out. I ordered a kit and it is patiently waiting for cutting...I also need to cut and sew my three April Amy's Passions BOM for 2010 and keep working on my cousin's wedding quilt (Night and Day) and decide on a pattern and cut and sew a baby quilt for my cousin Patricia and her hubby David before their little one arrives--soon! So much to do and never enough time!
Right now Randy and I are off to do some thrift shopping and get some Indian food, then I will get back in the sewing room!

Quiltalong Progress for March

Just a reminder..this was the Quiltalong for January...
and February...

and tonight I did March! I am supposed to be making six blocks a month but I just do whatever happens with the strips I put together...which will be interesting in the end, and may wind up as more than one quilt, but they whip up really quickly and are fun to make so I am really enjoying this. I picked green for St. Patrick's Day. One of these fine days I will put them all up on the wall together and get a picture!

Finally Some Sewing and Cutting...

I finally got into the sewing room this afternoon and made some progress! These blocks are for the quiltalong I am participating in! I thought February being Valentine's month I would do them in pink! Again the goal is to make six and I made more than that...these go together really quickly and since I have no idea what I am going to do with them I am just enjoying whipping a few up each month. Eventually a quilt or two will come together from them. So cross one thing of my to do list!
Kathy joined me and kindly cut up my Sunday Best Schnibbles, so I will be able to get to sewing that hopefully this weekend! I am using some civil war repro fabric that I had bought as part of a kit in Chicago at the quilt show...I long ago ran out of interest to do the pattern I got free with the kit so I can't wait to see what this one looks like in the fabric which I love!

Made two kerchiefs from the Mickey Mouse fabric to take to Disneyland too! Kathy and I tried them on several different ways and cracked ourselves up!

I also worked on my Quiltz Mystery quilt...I got all of these blocks done and put together but I just couldn't motivate myself to finish up the last few blocks...I don't care for the method of making the flying geese..ugh! They just don't come up very good...so...

Kathy cut borders and I sewed them on and used four of my leftover half square triangle blocks at the corners which I really happen to like! This added enough size that I think Ayla (who is six) will be quite happy with it! And I can cross it off my list too! Can you tell I always have a list in my head?
We did attempt to cut out the BOM for Amy's Passions 2010 but apparently when I printed from the website MUCH of the directions did not print. I was going nuts thinking why did Amy leave out so much info (haha--she didn't!) so I decided I would go look and see if I had missed something and VIOLA half the stuff didn't print, but enough did to fool me into thinking I had it all! I cut and pasted it all into Word and then printed and had no problem. So will try to get to at least one of those this weekend too!

Chilhowie and More

I made a few more mini tissue holders mostly in rainbow fabric.  May gift them at a post Christmas exchange with our local lgbtq group. Not ...
