Sushi Porn - Mi-ne Sushi Mongkok

This is a totally different "japanese porn" from the ones you know (oh, come on!), it doesn't involve any butt-ugly men doing super hot girls, and this one's much more enjoyable...no...it's almost orgasmic to watch.

Look at that plate of roasted eel sushi...they're the best I've tried so far! Succulent, smoky, rich, tasty...I'll be out of adjectives describing everything from this shop, as they all taste fan-bloody-tastic.

So, just gawk at these beauties, people.

Swordfish. My mom's favorite. Subtle, fatty, satiny smooth.

The good ol' salmon. Buttery delicious.

Roasted scallop sushi topped with lemon and seasalt. Look at how thick, how juicy...and how beautiful the plate is, which means that it should be rather pricey, but trust me. So worth it.

Oh, my sweet freshnesses sea urchin sushi.

Big fat juicy creamy crunchy deep fried oysters.

Their miso soup has radish pieces in it. Sweetened the bowl right up. Slurp!

Deep fried prawn inari, sous chef's favorite. Perfectly cooked prawns, tangy rice, tasty topping, creamy mayo, sweet beancurd pocket...oh my!

Grilled fatty beef sushi...if raw fish isn't your thing, Mi-ne sushi has a good selection of sushi with delicious cooked topping.

....and it's been a while since I've committed this unforgivable sin...

...of not ordering this sinful pieces of pleasure.
Foie Gras Sushi.
Decadent.
Decadent.
Decadent.

Imagine how hard it was for her not to devour that piece immediately, having to pose for this food paparazzi.

So, you really can't blame us for this...

Visit them when you're in town.
I love Mongkok branch the most, cos (I've said this and I'll say this again) head chef Taku is smokin' hot!

Ha-Ne Sushi Mong Kok - Now I Can Eat Sashimi!

Meet Mr. Sushi Man.
Ain't he cute?
Doesn't he just make you wanna tear off his misterious face mask, his sexy plastic gloves, his cotton chef shirt (I'd keep the hat on), and get him to craft unlimited plates of sushi for ya?
I think he's hot. (sous chef isn't behind me reading this, is he?)

Now, on to the food...

Waitttt...isn't that a plate of the oh-so-popular salmon sushi?....aren't they....RAW???!!!! I don't do raw. The first couple of times I tried raw salmon, I was gagging! I was struggling trying to keep down HK$100-a-bite (US$12) raw fatty tuna! What is that salmon doing on my table?!

Let me introduce you the-all-new-and-improved Rita: she DOES enjoy raw fish now.

So, the new me thought the above salmon sushi is super delicious. Now I can't figure out why the heck did I hate that before...it's freaking delicious. It's all silky, satiny, buttery goodness!

My ordering style is pretty much sticking with what I love. I could order the exact same thing every visit, but not sous chef. His principal is "If I don't know what is it, I should probably try it". So he ordered this plate of raw shellfish sushi, and until now I couldn't quite figure out what was that? All I know is...it was sweet freshness on a golden plate, which means it's pricey. Damn.

My all time favorite, the roasted eel sushi. Now that I start to love raw seafood, I get harder when judging roasted eel sushi. This one in particular, wasn't that good. I missed the smoky, charcoaly flavor on this one.

This is one of the stars of Ha-ne sushi. Who doesn't love long legs? Especially if it's on a crab! This long legged crab meat sushi topped with fish roe and mayo...wow. Heaven. The sweetness from the crab, the saltiness from the roe, and the creamy and tangy mayo...simply wow!

Seeing plates after plates of delicious sushi doing the locomotion...I think it's more theurapeutic than seeing fish swimming back and forth in a tank/pond.

Here's where my Indonesian self failed to submerge, it wanted something deep fried! Hehe! I was glad I ordered this Deep Fried Oyster Sushi. Crunchy, creamy...delicious!

Even during the days when I haven't fallen in love with raw fish, I loved sea urchin. The creamy, delicate, fresh sweetness of it reminds me of the sea without all the nasty fishiness. This one is no exception. Super fresh.

By the way, where did Mr. Sushi Man go? He probably got scared of me. Oh, well.

Visit Ha-ne Sushi Mongkok to check him the food out.
Go before 1 pm at lunch time, or before 7 pm at dinner time to avoid Hong Kong's notoriously long sushi queue.

The Ultimate Bday Indulgence

The meal we've been saving for, long for, wore elastic waistband for and didn't eat the whole....afternoon for (as if we could stand not eating the whole day), our ultimate indulgence...a scrumptious, decadent buffet dinner at Mr. Steak Buffet a la Minute! Woohooo!!! Dig in!

Hors D'Oeuvres

Silky smooth tofu with soy and pork floss. Light and refreshing...and I love the huge gingerbread town decorating the buffet spread!

Bits of thinly sliced ham on sweet chunks of melon got me ready into the next food adventure...

A vast array of seafood...I am not a big fan of cold seafood, but I managed to down a crab head full of roe. Yum! Hello cholesterol....

I used to hate sashimi. Blegh! Ew! Yuck!....but now I start to be able to enjoy a slice of buttery salmon...and I grew to love succulent and sweet scallop and shrimp sashimi. Ohhhh this beginning stage of love...always excites, yet scares me. *Shudder*

The sushi section. I love them so much, but I can't eat more than 1-2 pieces, sorry babies, I need to save some space for more good stuff...I still love you, although not equally (I am a firm believer of favoritism).

The Hot Stuff

The Shanghai Xiao Long Bao were tasty and juicy...and the skin was delightfully thin and chewy (unlike mine, which is thick and start to get a lil' droopy)

Sausages, sausages, sausages...no no, size does not matter. The smaller the better *wink*

Nothing beats the sound of Kobe beef strips sizzling on the grill...it's like music to my ears! Ladida dida! Come and dance on my plate...

Wagyu steak, grilled to perfection...was I drunk from the beef scent...was it just me? or does the uncle who's in charge of slicing the beef really start to look very very hot?

All kinds of delicious prime steaks on my plate...this place really deserves the title of "Mr.Steak"

*Rubbing my eyes?* I couldn't believe what I saw....are those....FOIE GRAS???!!!!! Oh my.....forget salad, forget sushi, forget seafood! ME WANT FOIE GRAS!!!! (This explain the bizzare plate below)

Oh yeah! Eerrrrr.....foie gras on toasts....with ehm...tofu? crab? and oysters? Are you MAD???!!! Sorry guys and gals, I just had to have them. Then and there. They were rich, velvety...the ultimate decadence.

Oh My Goodness Gracious! Sweetnesses!!!

Not a big fan of gelee, especially in winter...but these fuji apple jelly topped with fresh raspberries were just perfect! Sweet and refreshing.

Pecan pie, chocolate mousse cake, tiramisu, pomelo and mango dessert...I wish I had multiple stomachs

Can I wash my face in your fountain of chocolatey goodness?

The crepe suzette station, made to order, just for you, by a young-hot-hunky chef...I'd like one with extra everything, please...and your phone number...errr for my friend, you're single, are you?

The place's great, the food's fan-freaking-tastic, the service staff were friendly, funny even...except when I walked around taking pictures and got in their way...and the HK$360 per pax price tag for Sunday dinner is totally worth it! I will definitely go back there again. Now I am exercising my stomach to be able to eat more in my next visit ^_^.

A million thanks to my sweet girls and sc for the amazing dinner, the presents...and most importantly...for eating as much as me most of the time, I can't imagine having closest friends who don't eat. *Grin*
