Nasi Campur Food Stalls - Kuala Lumpur Hawker Center Yumminess

More drool-worthy yumminess from my Kuala Lumpur trip.
This time, they're from a random food centre near the stadium we held our event in (Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil).
Malaysian Food
I was surprised to find out that most of the nasi campur (mixed rice) stalls are run by....Indonesians! Aw!

I was tempted to pile everything onto my plate...but finally wisely selected stuff to form quite a well balanced meal. Veggies and eggs on rice, drenched in tasty spicy coconut-milky gravy. Yum!

Kuala Lumpur Street Food

When I travel, I don't always try to dine in famous eateries. I normally just eat wherever and whatever, but I'd try to eat something local.

The following deliciousness are from a dai-pai-dong style eatery near Sunway Pyramid, Kuala Lumpur.

Durian Food Sighting & Food Loot from KL

I saw a small food stand in Mid Valley mall KL, and it's called Durian Durian. It sells all kinds of durian goodies.

All sounded fantastic! I tried the durian cheese crumble cheese tart and durian cheese cake. The names are better than the taste. The cheese cake and tart were pretty dry and not durianey enough. I've also bought the durian cookies and sponge cake.

Food Sighting & Loot from KL
The cookies are fragrant and buttery. The sponge cakes were light and fluffy, but again, there was not enough durian in them. I should've known better. Durian is always better as is.

What else did I get from KL?
Food Sighting & Loot from KL
Choki choki (I love choki choki when I was young! You squeeze out chocolate paste out of its plastic casing, it's like munching soft chocolate! Yum!), Nandos peri peri sauce (I am marinating some Nandos wannabe chicken to be grilled tonight), Caramel toffee spread, and tamarind paste.

You know I'm fond of spice mixes, and I surely bought some from KL ^_^
Food Sighting & Loot from KL
Can't wait to try all of them.

McDonald's Spicy Fried Chicken from KL

McDonald's Fried Chicken from KL
I went all the way to Kuala Lumpur, and I ate....McDonald's???!!!
Yes! Judge me all you can, but I love their spicy fried chicken, which is not available in Hong Kong, and no, it is not the same as Hong Kong's spicy chicken wings.

I ate this meal two times.
Heheheheh

McDonald's Banana Toffee Sundae from KL
I tried their banana toffee sundae. I'd say that the name is much better than the taste.

I also had KFC's fried chicken with chicken rice there :p

I am a junk food junkie. I know.
We've also spotted another junk food junkie on the road!

Malaysian Bakuteh at Restoran Kee Heong - The Dumbass who Brought Cup Noodles to A Food Paradise

Who's the dumbass who brought 8 days worth of cup noodles and soy joy supplies into a food paradise?
Ehm, me, myself and I.

I knew that Malaysia is heaven for food lovers, but learning that a colleague even brought a rice cooker for this work trip, I was worried that we were gonna have our exhibition in a venue that's in the middle of nowhere, with no nearby restaurants, no minimarkets, the only protein we could get might be the mosquitoes who happened to be unfortunate enough to fly by us, and getting our daily intake of fibre might involve gnawing some old tree trunks by the venue. Plus, we were worried that our ass might be super glued to our exhibition site (which normally runs from early morning to the next morning) and we wouldn't have time to even look at the mosquitoes and the trees.

As always, I couldn't be more wrong.

There are plenty of good food near the stadium where we held our exhibition, and after the event, our graceful local host, Mr. A brought us to fantastic places to indulge, and one of them is...

Bakuteh at Restoran Kee Heong - Klang

The first thing which caught my eyes were these cute tea sets and hot metal tea pots on gas burners.

...then the friendly regulars who didn't get pissed seeing me pointing my camera to them, they even made V signs for my benefit.

Wasn't it just too hot for hot tea? Yes. But we really needed the hot tea to neutralise what we were about to eat.

The metal pots contains hot water, it is for you to refill your tea pots. Handle with care.

We were given a basketful of tea leafs packets, we selected Pu-Erh, an all time favorite.

...and the condiments...green chilli padi. These are not for the faint of heart. They're super HOT!

I haven't tried a Dry Bakuteh before, and I heard this place makes an exceptionally delicious one. I saw this pot, and I had no doubt that I'd love it. Even when the meat pieces were long gone, we were still scraping the pot and clean the sauce.

We also ordered a large pot of Bakuteh (braised pork in spices), pictured at the beginning of this post, all the goodnesses were hidden under the humble pieces of lettuce. Super tender, juicy and flavorful pork meat, tofu puffs, and beancurd sheets. They were perfect with plates of fragrant onion rice.

By the time we almost finished, I was drenched down to my undies, gave up and ordered iced tea. Lame, eh?

The owner told us that if only we were there earlier, we could've enjoyed the imperial cut of meat, and the special soup, which is strictly for regulars. Wow. Maybe next time.

What happened to my cup noodles? They didn't go to waste, they were adopted and will be enjoyed by our colleagues from the Philippines.

A Quick Hello from KL

Look at those overflowing mountains of goodies! I just wanted to dive, with mouth wide open, into those divine hills. Munch, munch, munch...and that was just the beginning! Not considering the vast array of tasty treats on the streets, there are also soooo many food outlets which I've missed but couldn't find in Hong Kong. Call me silly, but I was ooohing and ahhhhing at the sight of Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, JCo Donuts, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne's and Karl Junior!

Naturally, I couldn't resist but started to buy some (not a lot, please believe me) goodies from the supermarket...and fell in love with the vintage-inspired packaging of these chocolates:

Cute!

Adorable!

Kinda creepy? Hehe

But I was suchhhhh a good girl, turned out I still have a teeny tiny bit of will power in me. I didn't buy any of those chocolate boxes, no matter how muchhh I love 'em. Hmmm, maybe I'll buy them tomorrow HAHA!

...and you'd think that this is a fab breakfast...but I had it at 10 something at night HAHA! It's from Pancake House, at Sunway shopping mall, it's a fast food outlet from the Philippines. Talk about all day breakfast! The cheese bits inside the pancake made the pancake perfect, but I was not crazy about the dry egg and the dry bacon.

I am now regretting my crazy idea of bringing a small luggage in an effort to look cool. I must buy those yummy looking instant noodles, snacks, cakes, sodas, curry spice packs...arrgghhh!
