Mini Fabric Basket

As well as being a Tilda Fan I am also a fan
of Lynette Anderson

You couldnt get two totally different styles.

I have a lot of Lynette Anderson fabrics and her books. The other day I was having a clean up of my studio and I decided to use up some of my stash.

I made this little mini basket first.
All hand sewn, as I thought I should use some of the skills I have used from the class I took recently

I had some bee buttons in my stash (not Lynette Andersons) and decided to add them to a little mini yoyo.

These fit my little bobbins that I use for applique. These bobbins have thread on them that are used in Lynettes designs.

After Lynette came and made a comment on the mini basket above on my Facebook page I felt very inspired to make another one but using different fabric.

I used two of Lynettes fabrics as well as her embroidery fabric.. I love this fabric! it is just so lovely to stitch on.

I used some more buttons from my stash and did up an embroidery design

I made this one using a slightly different design. I will endeavour to do a tutorial of these soon.

They are quick and easy to make... that is one of my favourite motto's.

QUICK AND EASY!!

busy mums need quick designs they can make up when busy.

These really do not take that long at all... especially when sewn on a machine.

Dont forget the Tilda Swap below

Wool Felt House

My latest creation.
A Wool Felt House.

This is my own design. The pattern will be available soon. (this is all part of my new plans for this year  :-)
This house is large enough for you to put the yarn for a knitting or crochet project in as you are using it, the yarn can poke out the top of the roof, or it could be used as a cute additon to a little girls bedroom, or even better still your bedroom.

This house has a front door, embroidered sides and a backdoor.

This is what I call 'Shabby Chic Zakka', if there is such a thing.

I was inspired by this house after reading a Japanese book, in Japanese. I saw these mini houses in this book and this was my inpsiration.

Silk ribbon and normal embroidery basic stitches are used in this design.

I will let you know when the pattern is available.

Have a nice day

Wool Felt Sewing Case

Hi everyone
I havnt been on here for a while. My dad hasn't been that well, it seems that the morphine dosage is going up by the week at this stage. So my motivation has been slightly sluggish.

I have been enjoying my crocheting, knitting, handstitching and embroidery though.

I saw this made up in a shop recently and liked it so much I purchased a kit.
While I was making it I went with the embroidery pattern but kind of changed it around as I pleased. I love doing free style embroidery.

I just love embroidery. I have been doing this art for nearly 40 years.. hmmm that makes me very old!! lol

This is the inside of the case.
A place for:
Needles
Pens
Scissors
Pins
Thimble
And my packet needles

Wool felt is so nice to work with... so soft and the needle just glides in without a problem.

I just love it. I have some other goodies to show you too.

I have been doing a hand stitching class, the Japanese method. I totally love it. I have made two cotton reel holders and now Im making a toilet bag.

Ill have a post showing these soon.

Just thought Id share as Im taking part in

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Baby Embroidered Woollen Blanket

I embroidered this a little while ago.

This is one type of embroidery that I love doing.

I came up with this design, as I embroidered. It was inspired by a blanket I saw in an embroidery magazine.

The blanket is made with 100% pure wool fabric and the backing is a very soft minky. This is a blanket that I will always treasure and probably use when my grandchildren come to visit in the future.

A little OOAK baby

Precious sleeping baby
If you love OOAK dolls like me, these little darlings just make your heart swell.

Little Lydia, named after Lydias Treasures, is a little sweetie.
She is made from a special skin coloured clay.

I will have these OOAK babies available in my webshop, Etsy and Facebook soon. As these are handmade no two are ever alike.

Little Lydia has a silk ribbon rose on her blanket.... her blanket it made using Minky. She is approx 3in in length.

I must say I am delighted with her.

My last 10 Days

This is a pincushion design I came up with last week.
This will be sold as a kitset in my webshop that is soon to open.

I received my first box of Tilda fabric on Friday.
This would have to be one of my favourite ranges in Tilda

Also
I joined up in a Pincushion Swap.
I tried something slightly different to what I normally make.
Needle felt... I used roving and felted it with a felting needle and created
this
The cherry is also made using a needle felt.
and of course I had to add some polymer clay pins

I also made a needle felted cupcake applique for the needlecase

This was loads of fun to make.
I wasnt that happy with the quality of the workmanship but I had run out of time and had to send it on.
I made it for Magaret... I will put her blog up soon.. I have to go into another email to fetch the link.

This is what Margaret made me.
Her work is just beautiful
The egg cup is a vintage Noritaki China Egg Cup.. something I just love

A closer look.

Have a great day

Little pegs with Washi Tape and ...

I am on a Washi Tape Roll at the moment .. excuse the pun.

I love the designs that washi tape come in. These are two of them that I have purchased recently used on pegs. I will use these in my craft room... they will be very useful.

The felt rose is from my felt rose tutorial. It is a very mini version. The strawberry is just something I came up while playing around with my scissors and felt.

A cute little gift

I went shopping yesterday at a gorgeous embroidery shop.
They had 132 types of different threads... wow it was like Christmas. I bought  some silk ribbon,  wool thread, silk thread, hand dyed thread and some cashmere wool fabric. Last night I got creating some booties using the cashmere. They are all handstitched together using a lovely wool thread.  These will go into a box I am putting together for the future grandchildren... there are non on the way... just thought a box would be something nice to work on.

I hope you are all having a wonderfully creative week.

Bullion Roses

Lots of bullion roses on a handknitted blanket.

Back in Januray this year I was asked if I would do ALOT of bullion roses on to a blanket for a little baby that was due to come into the world.

I was slightly reluctant. When I saw how many I had to do I was even more reluctant. I cannot remember now how many I ended up doing but I did manage to finish it.
This is the photo of just some of them.. taken on my cellphone camera...so not a great photo. The edge of the blanket was a knitted lace... it really was beautiful.

I just thought I would share this little commission I completed.

Altered Box

I visit Michelle's blog  ITS SEW ME. Michelle and I keep in touch over email from time to time.
It is lovely how we can get to know each other in this online crafty community.

Michelle has a cafty group that gets together. I noticed that each month the seem to do some sort of challenge. Last months challenge was to do an Altered Box. They were going  to use a brown paper mache' box from Spotlight. I had one in my craft room to use. I decided to join the challenge for some fun.
As my lovely friend had passed away I was not really up to it but on the weekend I got to creating.

I painted it with a paint that has paper in it.
It takes a while to dry but the effect is really great.
I sprinkled some mother of pearl glitter on the top for some prettiness - we all love a bit of prettiness don't we?

These are paper roses and rosebuds.
I did this arrangment using craft glue

My Shabby Chic picture in the background
This is a series of stitcheries that I will be bringing out in the next few months

Thanks Michelle for giving me the opportunity to join in.. it was fun!

Im in the process of moving my craft room into a new room. For my webshop I needed a studio. I place to store all the fabrics and patterns and have abit of organisation.
So while I am doing this I am finding alot of things.

This above photo is of the design that I used to teach in my classes I used to run.

A closer look.

Have a great day.

My Forte'

My Forte' is Embroidery/Stitchery.
I have been doing this craft for 36 years....
I was sent a linen cushion cover from England when I was a little girl
That was my first piece of work to complete. I learnt all different types of stitches.

The above ribbon embroidery is a creation I am in the process of making.
It is a Christmas Stocking meant to be finished last year... oh well, there is always this year LOL!

The fabric is an old piece of green satin from the 60's

The lace is hand dyed, the ribbons are gorgous silk Mokuba from Japan.

I used to teach embroidery.
I ran classes for around 7 years or so from my home.

I love stitching and embellishing.
I was commissioned to embroidery a bride dress with silk ribbon and shoes to match.
It was alot of work but a compliment to be asked to do.
I have added velvet leaves to this design.
I will also be adding other embroidery stitches and crystals along the way.

Also...

One of the classes I taught was was
painting a water colour design on to fabric then embellishing with embroidery
This was one class that we really enjoyed doing.
This is an embroidered tea cosy.
The stitch used it like a blanket stitch knitted onto the needle.
Very easy and very effective done with wool.
A closer look.
I love this leaf stitch. I use it on alot of things....fly stitch it is called.

And my needlebook, I mentioned in the below post.
this is one of my designs... maybe up and coming in my new little shop.
I am a fan of crystals and silk. I love pretty things.
This is a photo of a pincushion I made a while back.
It is scented with gorgeous crystals on each corner.... and of course the dressmakers pins.

Have a great day.
