Playing With the Birds Here!

I was having fun creating birds this past week so I tried out my hand at drawing and painting this Peacock named "Feathery Eyes" for a Journal page of mine over at the Journal Group at  Roses On My Table.  I finally gave up on getting a feather to look the way I wanted so I had a paper napkin in my stash with the Peacock feather on it so I collaged it in and "wala" I was pleased with the result:)

"Claire" An Outlander Inspiration

Happy Friday everyone, bloggers, FB friends and creators everywhere:)

I'm  kind of behind on my post these days, I'm sorry to say.  Unfortunately it is still pretty warm here so I'm not to motivated to do much of anything except try and stay cool! I have finished up my Art Doll class over at Artful Gathering and managed to complete three dolls. The third one I will save closer to Halloween by the way:) This is my second doll  I completed after starting to watch the new series "Outlander" on Starz1. It has been on about a month and I love it, I know probably some of you have read the book but I haven't so no Spoiler tales here:)

"Claire" has been whisked back in time from the early 1900's  about 200 years so somewhere into the 1700's . She is suspected to be a Witch but I don't know thus far if she is or not. This is my version of "Claire" as a Witch  and a pretty one she is. If you haven't started watching it yet, I highly recommend it.

I have started back on my CQ 2014 and I'm working on block # 5 of my "Lovely Ladies" Quilt and it is coming right along, hopefully I will get caught up on the blocks and will be sharing with you before long.  Until then stay cool, keep creating and enjoying your days, spend them well they are a gift:)

Gypsy Queen "Faith Keeper"

In the heat of the summer, yes Heat as it has been sweltering here in Sunny Ca. I have been trying to complete an Art Doll class over at Artful Gathering:) I'm almost finished and it has been the most enjoyable distraction from the warmth and while trying to stay cool I have learned quite a new techniques to use in other areas of my Art. Not to get to lengthy here I'll show you pic's of one of my Art dolls and then show you another later this week. I leave you with my Gypsy Queen, Faith Keeper holding keys to secrets of life.

"Dreaming" My Little Art Book

I just finished my tiny book from my online book class I was taking at Artful Gathering. What I great class! I learned many new techniques to apply to my book/journal making and had a great time in the process. It is always fun to learn new things and reinforce the old. Here are a few pic's of my 2 x 3 in little book.

Alice In Wonderland

Here are a few  paper dolls I recently created in Vintage style. The theme is Alice In Wonderland and one other Character. We were to include some fabric in our set. Alice is wearing an apron created from a vintage dinner napkin and cut down stockings from a very old doll sock.  Mr Rabbit is wearing a vest created from some vintage felt gifted to me by a grandson of a neighbor. Fun, fun!
Speaking of fun, I'm taking a great class over at Artful Gathering called "Beyond Time". You should check it out along with many others. We are creating a mini book and I love it!  The link is on my sidebar if you want to try!
Today I'm linking up with Etsy Cottage Vintage Style for their monthly blog hop.

Where Did the Month of May Go?

Wow is all I can say, seems like I just posted not that long ago and the month got away from me:)
So be it, here we are beginning June and to make matters worse I didn't get my May Quilt block even started. I guess I will be busy over the summer or early Fall. Here are my May Tags for my latest Swap and our theme is "Geishas".  I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out and the challenge I threw out there way to use Tea, Tea tags or Tea bags in your Tags, I did some of each, can you find them?
I also completed 4 lap size Quilts for our church group where we donate quilts for a variety of needs. Nope no pic's but Ill try to get better at remembering to photograph them:) A couple were pretty cute too!

Sliding in Under the Wire .... Finally Finished CQ April 2014

Sharing my April  2014 CQ Block for the Crazy Quilt Challenge, Finally I say.. as I was running out of silk ribbon for my flowers and now I'm totally out of green for leaves. Out came the pre made flowers for fill in so it could be finished on time:) Don't you just hate that when you run out of a main supply when you are in the middle of a project, well I do. Time to place an order before I start another square! I'm determined to keep on this project just because... I tend to jump around a bit in my creative endeavors, do you do that? I have room filled with UFO's I call them (unfinished objects) and Im trying to change my ways, lol we will see as time goes on .......when I finish my two half done Santos and four paper clay bird girls. Yes, guilty most of the time and ready to start another doll project, fabric this time.....I think I need another lifetime to finish everything....Well so much for that...until I post again

Crazy Quilting March Block

Today I'm sharing my March block for the  CQ 2014 Challenge.  This block will be added to my   Lovely Ladies Sampler that will be put together at the end of the year. I have decided to alternate my blocks with colors and cream to give each block more pop. Hope it works out but as you well know the  best laid plans usually go awry. So I'm hoping, regardless  that it will be pretty:)
Today I'm linking up to  Etsy Cottage Stitchery for our monthly Wednesday Blog Hop:)

Spring Chicks

It looks like time got away from me again, and I have no excuse, well besides physical therapy and getting caught up with my regular swaps:) Sharing my latest "Spring Chicks" paper dolls for the Roses Group and meeting the Challenge of using Eggs some way on our dolls. Crazy and fun!

Meet Bella and Char! Our Swap challenge was to use eggs, egg shells or egg images in some creative way on our Chickie dolls. As you can see I used Eggs shells for their Easter Baskets and Dresses. Shells can give some really great texture and was fun. I used spray inks for color and let them dry, then I placed the newly colored shells between 2 pieces of wax paper and rolled them with a rolling pin. I used a brush to spread my glue on like paint and while wet I added the shells. After drying you can shake off any excess. They seem to have adhered very well with no problems.
