Giveaway Fabric Cuff is finally finished

Poor Doni, honestly, she is still waiting for the fabric cuff, which she won in my giveaway a little while ago. Long while ago, actually. But with all the health issues etc which had cropped up in the last few weeks, my muse had decided to abandon me, and has only just returned. The last couple of days have been a flurry of creativity, which I am really pleased about, and Doni's cuff is one of the things I have managed to finish. IF YOU ARE READING THIS, DONI, AND DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE SURPRISE, DON'T GO ANY FURTHER!

So, not for Doni, but for the rest of you, here are the pics I took of the cuff I custom made for her. She had asked for creams and pinks, and lace of course, and I hope I got it right. I have also included a religious medal, because I am sure religion is important to her. I have used Swarovski crystals, mother-of-pearl pearls, beads, a big fat pink freshwater pearl, vintage French and English lace, velvet ribbon, all on 100 year old hand loomed French linen, French brocade and another snippet of French fabric, and of course some lace motifs-

My wrists are too skinny for this cuff, but it gives you an idea of what it will look like when worn -

Starting my packing now for next week's trip back to France. Thank you so much for stopping by, a big warm welcome to my lovely new followers, and a hug and a toodlepip to all of you ;-) xxx

Fabric Cuff No. 2, oh, and as an afterthought, a little giveaway

I had so much fun making the crazy quilt fabric cuff following Sandy Babb's excellent tutorial, that I decided to make another cuff. Different to the first one, of course, I didn't want it to be a copy of the first one.

I used a small doily for the focal point of the cuff, and embellished the cuff with beads, freshwater pearls, Swarovski AB crystals and other bits and pieces -

Like the first one, it is lined with a very soft vintage French flannel fabric. I could get quite used to wearing these cuffs, I think they look gorgeous on your wrist. Perhaps not when I am grubbing around in the garden, planting my tomatoes, lol. Ah well, there is no chance of that at the moment anyway. Yes you guessed it, it is chucking it down again. We had a couple of hours of no rain this morning, which was very fortuitous, as there was a little brocante near us. Found a few things, but minutes after we got back home, it started raining again. And hasn't stopped since.

Do you know what? Just to cheer myself up, I think I will have a little giveaway. Fancy a fabric wrist cuff for yourself? Leave a comment on THIS post, and in a week or so I will draw a winner. I'll make a custom wrist cuff for you, and might just include a brocante find or two....... Hmm. As I have only just thought of the giveaway, I will have to have a think about the details, dates etc. I'll let you know in my next post, but start leaving your comment HERE right now.

Have a lovely weekend wherever you are, toodlepip xxx

Finished it !!!

Well, it has taken me a little longer than anticipated. There were brocantes to attend on two days ( and buy from, omg, so many gorgeous new treasures ) and neighbours to feed ( we had friends over for dinner yesterday ), and there was a little sunshine to make the most of in the veggie patch. So I just didn't have time to do what I so wanted to do - get on with the fabric cuff, for which Sandy Babb from the beautiful Quill Cottage blog had written such a fantastic tutorial. If you have ever wanted to make a fabric cuff, go check out the tutorial, it really is absolutely fabulous.

There were lots of things I needed for the cuff, which I didn't have with me here in France, like seed beads to make those beautiful leaves with, or a nice big rose, or the right kind of ink, or stamp, or embroidery thread, or velcro etc etc, so I had to improvise a bit. But I did it, I finished it this afternoon in my craftavan! I used some gorgeous antique French lace, seed pearls, Swarovski crystals, and a few petals from a flower garland in the cottage, a few little beads, a snippet of Battenburg tape lace, errm, what else? Can't remember. Just take a look at the pics,  lol -

This is what I had shown you in a previous post, the fabrics I used for the base, and the completed base -

And this is the embellished completed cuff -

I have tiny wrists, so it was a challenge to get lots of embellishments onto the cuff. There are a couple of things I would do differently the next time, but I am quite happy with the end result. I might just have to make another cuff, or two..........

Don't forget to hop over to Sandy's blog and check out the tutorial, it is incredibly detailed and just briliant. I would have never attempted a fabric cuff without her.
