Some yellows

Okay, so I have 109 unposted pictures that have been uploaded. I swatched for HOURS today. I still have 29 untried polishes.

Clearly, I need to get to postin' if I ever want to be current again.

So here are some yellows -- actually, I know I've already sold one of these on my blog sale. That should tell you how behind I am.. ugh.

This is "The Wonder Yellows" from Wet N Wild's Craze line:
Wet N Wild

This is Sinful "Dumpling."
Sinful Dumpling

I think both were two coats. I preferred the Wet N Wild to the Sinful, as it was more opaque. However, I've yet to find a yellow that actually looks GOOD on me. The search continues!

Wet N Wild Blackmail

What a huge disappointment this color was. Black with multicolored glitter in the bottle. Black with nondescript glitter on the nail. And the brush was, like, a half-inch-long mop. Poop. At least it was only a dollar or so.

Nails of the last three days

Man, I've been so busy at work lately and then so tired when I get home that I don't want to take the time to upload pictures and post them. So, my apologies for not being on top of this!

I have just about abandoned Seche Vite in favor of Poshe topcoat. I started suffering from the dreaded tip shrinkage (that sounds dirty but isn't). It's when you use Seche Vite as your topcoat and within hours you can see the tips of your nails. It grabs the polish underneath the topcoat and shrinks it. Meh. Poshe doesn't dry as quickly, but it doesn't shrink either.

But anyway!

Here were my nails on Tuesday, March 16. I used Wet N Wild Morbid. I really dig this color. It's almost black, but has enough green shimmer to be interesting. I cannot remember if the reason you can see the tips of my nails is because of shrinkage or if it's because I've been really hard on my hands this week. My new job is much more hands-on than my last job and I come home nearly every day with the tips worn.

This was my St. Patrick's Day mani, which sounded much cooler in my head. I used China Glaze Emerald Sparkle and stamped the houndstooth Konad design on top using Orly solid gold. Then I threw some tacky nail stickers on my ring finger. It was festive. :D
008

Today I used the second polish I got from the Orly Sweet collection -- Gumdrop. I LOVE this color. I was expecting it to be much more green, but it's a really pretty turquoise. I would like to do a side-by-side comparison of this with China Glaze For Audrey. Maybe Sunday I'll spend some time comparing polishes and taking pictures.

I've been using Orly Bonder lately as my basecoat. This was done using Bonder, two coats of Gumdrop (although the formula on this is freaking awesome -- I probably could have just done one coat), and a coat of Poshe on top. Let me tell you, I was HARD on my hands today. I was moving stuff around and opening up computers and was just generally rough on my nails today. I just knew that this was going to chip or wear off, but I took this photo at the end of the day, after I got home, and had barely any wear at all. You can see a minor ding and minimal tip wear, but nothing major. Good stuff!

Some randoms

Here are some randoms I've just had lying around. Stuff I picked up for a dollar or two, stuff I've been meaning to try out but just hadn't. So I swatched it all today. Yay!

Wet N' Wild Caribbean Frost. It's a teal frost. It's ok. I think I got this on clearance for 50 cents someplace, so I don't feel bad saying I'll probably never wear this again. It's not a bad color, just way frosty for me.
011

L.A. Colors in Amethyst. This is actually a really nice glittery purple. It's a medium bright purple. I think this was three coats. Please excuse my ring finger, clearly I banged it into something. :D I picked this up at Dollar General one day.
064

Orly Blue Suede. My love of all things matte is fading fast. I do like this a LOT better than OPI Russian Navy Matte, but the OPI mattes were generally crappy anyway. This is a good navy that doesn't look *black*.
018

Pure Ice - Magic. WOW! I've read numerous times that Pure Ice is a great drugstore brand, but I'd never actually bought any of it before. This will be changing. I picked this up on a whim last night and I love it! The formula was great, the color is interesting, and it was only $2! Sweet! I had to take a bunch of pictures of this.

Finger Paints Icy Iris is last.
Holy mother of God, I love this color! It's a dark eggplanty-purple with teeny tiny lighter purple glitter in it. This is actually my current mani. I hope to leave it on til Tuesday... if I have that much patience.

And that is all until I get my Claire's pastels swatched. I really am excited to use those, I have no idea why I wanted to get everything else outta the way first. :)

Nfu-Oh...My

Well, I'd hoped for better weather when I swatched this, but today in North Georgia, it is cold and raining and cloudy. So my indoor pics actually turned out better than my outdoor pics.

So, I think I need a couple of these polishes. I don't want to shell out $25 right this minute, but in a couple of weeks, I believe I will. :)

This doesn't compare to OPI Merry Midnight. They are both purply jelly polishes and both have flakies, but the Nfu-Oh is much cooler-looking and more interesting.

Merry Midnight is more of a plum color, with micro glitter and a few flakies. 51 is more of an inky blurple with a whole crap-ton of flakies. 51 looks pretty on its own, but it really, really shines over black.

And now I'll quit running my mouth and post some pictures!

Here are the two polishes on their own. I used three coats of each. 51 is on my index and ring finger. Merry Midnight is on my middle and pinky. This is taken indoors:

And this is taken outdoors:

So then, I put on one coat of Wet N Wild Black Creme, let that dry, and topped it with two coats of 51 and Merry Midnight. Again, 51 is on my index and ring fingers, and Merry Midnight is on my middle and pinky. THIS is where you can really see how much cooler 51 is than Merry Midnight. This shot was taken outdoors. Look at all that duochromatic flaky goodness!

And this is outdoors:

Tomorrow I am going to do a full mani of 51 over black. It's supposed to be sunny, and I think I'll try to get better outdoor pics. I have some other stuff I want to swatch tomorrow, so I'll do that, then give myself a full mani. Then I will have to return 51 to her rightful owner.

Thanks a lot, Teresa, for letting me borrow this polish!

Sinful Colors

ARGH! My swatching today isn't going so well -- I've had some cat drama. One of my cats is in the midst of a freakout and has been for half the day. He's done this before, so I'm more annoyed than worried, at least for now.

Still, I did manage to get SOME stuff swatched and photographed pre-kitty freakout.

Sinful is a brand I've only ever seen at Walgreens. I have no idea if any other place sells it. I am sure you can get it online someplace. They have some pretty cool colors, but the formula is usually a little thin and takes 3-4 coats for opacity. Still, this stuff is $2 a bottle. I don't buy a lot of this because there's only one Walgreens here, it's on the other side of town, and it's really hard to get in and out of.

This is "Show Me The Way." It's sort of a golden-olive-y green with some shimmery particles in it. This is three coats.
241

And this is "Nail Junkie." I love this color! It's an aqua jelly base with different sizes of glitter in what appears to be aqua and holographic silver. This is also three coats. It's so purty. :)
260

And this is "Frenzy." It's magenta and aqua glitter in a clear base. I don't think you could ever get this to become opaque. This is FOUR coats and it's still pretty sparse.
270

So, I decided to put Frenzy on top of Wet N Wild Black Creme. This is just one coat of each polish. It looks like Dance Club Barbie threw up on my nails!

More Wet n Wild

These are the rest of the Wet N Wilds in my collection.

The first one is a Wet N Wild "Flirt" in a teeny tiny bottle in a shade called "Frostbite." It's a sparkly silver metallic shade that I actually really like a lot.
035

And this is a pink glitter in a shade called "Sparked." I'm pretty sure this is four coats. This glitter is okay, but it really needs to be layered on something else as it is not dense enough to wear alone.
048

And this! THIS!! This is the most awesome Wet N Wild shade I've ever seen. It's from their Craze line and it's called Morbid. It's a very, very dark blackened teal. I liked the Craze line, but this is the only one I decided I HAD to purchase because I knew it would look awesome on me. Full disclosure: I've been wearing this color on my toenails since right after Christmas. I have terribly ugly toenails. They grow in a weird shape and they are thick. I was blessed with nice fingernails and cursed with hideous toenails. BUT, this polish is still hanging around on my toenails, looking not too different from when I first applied it.

Wet n Wild Crystalic Color

I have somehow ended up with three of these. Two of these were $1 Big Lots specials -- I told you I can't pass up a good deal. Even if one of the colors was something I was pretty sure wasn't "me." They are also frosts, which I'm not a huge fan of, but you know... maybe someday I'll need these colors. You never know. I'm stocking up for the impending nail polish apocalypse.

This is called Jade Frost. Sorry for the indirect lighting, but in direct light, this just looks silver and it's really NOT. It's a seafoam green frost.
018

This second one is called Sandalwood Frost and it's a frosty bright pink. It's really not bad. I may wear this someday, who knows.
020

The last one is one I picked out myself and not because it was at Big Lots. :) It's called "Heavy Metal" and it's a dark grey with tiny little glitter sparkles in it. Silver and blue glitter, I think. At least, sometimes I see blue in it. I could be wrong.
