A HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM RICKY GERVAIS: WHY I'M AN ATHEIST
"(...) Why don’t I believe in God? No, no no, why do YOU believe in God? Surely the burden of proof is on the believer. You started all this. If I came up to you and said, 'Why don’t you believe I can fly?' You’d say, 'Why would I?' I’d reply, 'Because it’s a matter of faith'. If I then said, 'Prove I can’t fly. Prove I can’t fly see, see, you can’t prove it can you?' You’d probably either walk away, call security or throw me out of the window and shout, 'F—ing fly then you lunatic'.(...)
'Do unto others...' is a good rule of thumb. I live by that. Forgiveness is probably the greatest virtue there is. But that’s exactly what it is - a virtue. Not just a Christian virtue. No one owns being good. I’m good. I just don’t believe I’ll be rewarded for it in heaven. My reward is here and now. It’s knowing that I try to do the right thing. That I lived a good life. And that’s where spirituality really lost its way. When it became a stick to beat people with. 'Do this or you’ll burn in hell'.
You won’t burn in hell. But be nice anyway". (daqui)

VIVA A CATALUNHA! VIVA A UNIÃO IBÉRICA!
"Catalonia has made history today: the Catalonian Parliament has voted to approve the amendment of the current animal protection legislation and therefore ban bullfighting within the region. The ban will come into effect on January 1st, 2012. Bulls will no longer suffer a slow, painful and terrifying death in Catalonia’s bullrings". (notícia integral aqui)

RICKY GERVAIS CONTRA TOURADAS NA CATALUNHA
"WSPA [World Society for the Protection of Animals] is trying to stop needless acts of cruelty all over the world. The Catalonian government in Spain is on the verge of voting for a ban on bullfighting. Catalonian MPs will be voting on the issue and you can do your bit to help. We want them to know that there are thousands of people all around the world who care which way they vote and are hoping to see them put an end to this cruel sport... Now, more than ever, you can make a difference. Please go to the WSPA website and add your name to our petition so that together we can encourage the Catalan parliament to vote in favor of a ban".

"NA PRÓPRIA NATUREZA, OS ANIMAIS NÃO ANDAM DOIS MACHOS A ACASALAR UNS COM OS OUTROS, PENSO QUE UMA VACA E UM TOURO É QUE É, NÃO É DOIS TOUROS OU DUAS VACAS..." (ouvido na manifestação da Dona Isilda contra o casamento gay)
1) Leitura recomendada: Homosexual behavior in animals (mas, que raio!... nem era preciso esforçar o pobre do neurónio com leituras, os cãezinhos, e coiso, nunca reparou?...);
2) Entrada directa, por indiscutível mérito, para o "pensamento filosófico português";
3) Acordo total e absoluto com a palavra de ordem "O Estado não é o dono da família". É que é mesmo isso.
