Daisy Sparkle

Hi there crafters, long time no see.

As the sun has been shining and it's lovely and warm now, so I thought I'd do a card with a lot of sparkle.

First thing I took a pieced of white Super Smooth Card and cut a piece 5.5" x 5.5" and placed it on my Blending Mat  and decided to use the  Imagination Crafts Crackle Mosaic stencil tapping it down on all four sides using Repositionable Tape and three of the Ranger Distress Inks in the same tone of colours as follows:

I randomly spread the inks through the stencil using a smoothie, by starting with the darker colour around the edges, then the next tone down and finally finishing with Antique Linen and blended that all over.  I then wanted a bit of sparkle so I did some foiling using Imagination Crafts Silver Dollar Sparkle Medium and an old, hard piece of cut n dry giving the effect below.

Next was to stencil the Imagination Crafts Large Daisy Stencil onto a piece of acetate, so again placed the acetate on the blending mat and tapped down all four sides.  Using a pallet knife I spread the Silver Dollar medium evenly over the stencil until it was completely covered.  Once the stencil was removed I set it to one side to dry completely.

I thought I'd add a couple of die cut butterflies so created a small piece of glitter card using Silver Dollar again and a brayer to spread it evenly, again leaving it to dry.

For the sides of the card I cut two borders from a punch in my stash but I think using the new Crealies On the Edge Dies would also work great.

Next was to assemble the card by placing the acetate image across the background to measure how it was going to bend slightly.  Then folded the left hand side and placed the two borders down the left and right hand of the card.  Laying the acetate flat and measuring the overlap on the right, I cut it down slightly to create a small curve when the card was open and could be laid flat for posting.

Once that was done it was all about finishing, so matted the card onto some gold mirri then onto some black card and then mounted the whole lot onto a 7" x 7" card then embellished with a few gold holographic spot stickers and a sentiment, I die cut a couple of butterflies from the prepared glitter card and placed one under the acetate and the other on top and the card was done.

Thank you for dropping by the blog today and look forward to seeing some of you at the class.

Hobby Art Poppy Scene

Hello again crafters.  I hope you all had a lovely break over the Easter.

I celebrated my birthday this week and spent the day with Lisa and the girls that all help out at the workshop.  I had a wonderful day that I'll always remember, I don't think we stopped laughing for most of the day, oh and eating, Kate was the host and provided some lovely food, there was plenty of cake some home made by Rose and myself and some bought and all lovely.  They got me a huge bunch of gorgeous flowers and Rose make me a lovely little Primrose cake.

So todays card is following on from the theme of the last class and my take on the card you made.

I started with a 5.5" x 5.5" piece of white Super Smooth card and cut it in half using the Crealies No 8 cutting die.  I then turned the die around on the bottom half of the card and cut it again so I had the stitch mark showing.  Then set that aside.

Next I used the Hobby Art Poppy Scene-it and took the largest of the poppy's to create the foreground image, stamping it twice so it could be decoupaged.  I stamped using Versafine and Wow Clear Embossing powder.  I cut around one set leaving a thin white border showing.

Next came the colouring in, so used Imagination Crafts Starlights Red and a tiny bit of Menthol for the storks.  Dropping some on a tile and adding the tiniest amount of water to create the darker colour then picking up some more paint on a different part of the tile and adding more water for a lighter shade of the red.  I set those aside to dry and carried on with the next stage.

Next I wanted to create a background that would show between the two cut out lines.  I took a piece of card 5.5" x 3" and started to blend Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade onto the card using a Blending Tool and taking the ink straight from the pad for a more intense colour.

(Please excuse the messy distress ink pad I had a little mishap in my ink box, I can assure you it is Squeezed Lemonade)

Next I lined up my cut edges to see where I could stamp a couple of little images from the same stamp set, this set has about 22 stamps in it.  Once lined up I put a little mark where I wanted the images to go then stamped and embossed as before.  I then cut another piece of card the same size as before and stuck the coloured strip in the middle then stuck the cut halves in placed them apart so as to see the stamped images and enough of the colour.

Once that was I done I matted the card on to some black card.

Almost done, next was to cut out the poppy heads to decoupage and mounted using 3D foam, I then 3D them onto the card but sticking the stork directly onto the card so I could stamp some grass around them.

I stuck the whole card onto a 7" x 7" card and added a little sentiment and some little dots and lines using a Micron Fineliner

Here's the card again.

Thanks for dropping by again today, hope you liked the little card and see you again very soon.

Craft Emotion Dies

Hello again crafters, Happy Easter to you all.
Today's card is all about dies, Craft Emotions to be precise.  This cute little die is very effective and Springlike I think.

So as usual I started with a 7" x 7" white card blank and matted it with a very pale pink card then with white card cut to slightly smaller than the pink. Then a piece of pale green basil card stock that was cut an inch smaller than the previous layer, and then a piece of white card cut slightly smaller than the green.

I then used a patterned oval die and lined it up so that was slightly near the top and centered. Once cut I put all the matted layers in to place and set about adding the embellishments.

Next I wanted to use the Sue Wilson Lattice Bow, which is currently on offer on the website, to take away the starkness on the bottom of the card.  Once cut it fitted just perfected across both matts.

Next came the little Craft Emotions Bunch Of Blossoms Die to decorate the centre of the oval, so cut out the branch in light brown card, the flowers and buds were cut using the same pink as the matt and the leaves cut in the same green as the other matt.

I place the branch inside the oval..........

Cut all the flowers and buds out twice to give myself plenty of flowers, then shaped them................

Then chose the little buds and placed them at the end of some sprigs using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue

Next came the flowers and finished off by cutting the lattice bow shape and putting in place.  I finished off the card by using a little MDF bird from the Autumn Wood MDF shapes and painted him with a tiny bit of Clotted Cream Starlights and placed him on the lattice border.

Then finished off each little flower with a clear crystal gem.

And there you go, another card done........

I love the colours, they go very well together.

Thank you for dropping by the blog today and see you again very soon.

Love, Jan -x-

Hobby Art Framed Poppy

Hi there crafters, I hope you're all well and looking forward to Spring even though it's been quite cold this week.

Today's little card is made up of Hobby Art Stamps and Imagination Crafts Starlights.

So first of all I took a 7" x 7" white blank card and then cut a square of White Super Smooth card to about 6" x 6".  Then took the Hobby Art In The Cornfield Stamp set and stamped the largest poppy in the centre of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the Stampeazee

I then stamped the image again onto some Mask-it and covered the poppy head and stamped another large poppy to the right.  I then stamped the poppy seed head on the second poppy and the small poppy to the left of the first poppy.  Once that was I done I stamped the little poppy head onto a post-it note and cut it out to use as a mask.  I covered the small poppy head and stamped the large poppy again but on the right.................phew, too many poppies sounds like I'd stamped a field of them.

I coloured them all in with a wash of Red Starlights and water to bring out more sparkle for the head and Menthol for the stems.  Left that to dry for a while then run them through with a die cut frame from my stash to create the frame.  I purposely made sure the frame covered the flowers.

I raised the frame with 3D foam pads before putting it place on the blank card then flat matted the main image inside the frame.

And there you have it, a simple and easy little card.

I hope you enjoyed it today and see you again very soon
Love, Jan -x-
