Sweet Poppy Agapanthus with Distress Inks

Hi there crafters, here's my last blog post featuring the ghosting technique.

I started with my usual 7" x 7" white card and matted a piece of black card
5 ¾" x 5 ¾"  and a slightly smaller piece of Super Smooth white card.

I then used Squeezed Lemonade with Seedless Preserves Distress Inks to create my background.

Left that to dry for a short while then stamped it with the Bits & Pieces No 03 stamp using the Seedless Preserves Distress Ink a few times.

Then using the Imagination Crafts Honeycomb stencil and using a make up sponge I randomly padded the White Gesso through the stencil a few times

Then I wanted a bit of dimension so used the Sweet Poppy Black Dimension Paste and the Sweet Poppy Agapanthus Stencil, I tapped it down by putting a piece of white card either side of the stencil and tapping it down using the Imagination Crafts Repositionable Tape.

I then spread the paste through the stencil before carefully removing the tape, card and stencil then using plastic straw cut down to create a point, spread some glitter over the wet paste a few times and left to dry overnight, I actually left it for 2 nights as I went away for a couple of day with work :o)

I decided it didn't need any further stamping so just added a little raised sentiment and finish matting on to my original card.

Thank you for dropping by the blog today, hope to see you again very soon.
Love Jan -x-

Sweet Poppy & Distress Inks

Hi all, nice to be back after my holiday and off with a bad back, it's still not better and this is the first bit of crafting I've done in over 5 weeks :o)

Today's card is all about the technique we done at the August workshop.

I used my usual 7" x 7" white card and some black card for matting about 5" x 5" then used a piece of white watercolour card cut slightly smaller for embellishing.

I used the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and a the Mini Ink Blending Tool and flooded the centre of the card with colour before turning to the  Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and done the same on each side and blending it into the lemon, then dried it with the heat gun and left it to one side for about half hour to really dry off.

I then used the Imagination Crafts Bubble Stencil to create the white background, I took a blob of the White Gesso and a make up sponge, making sure it was well soaked with the paint before picking areas I wanted the dots to be and sponging through the stencil.

The next step was to do a little stamping, for this I used the Crealies Bits and Pieces No 3 stamp and randomly stamped over the card using Spiced Marmalade.

I left a space on the left had side of the card to put my image and then carried on using the same stamp but this time using Black Versafine Ink and Wow Clear embossing powder.

I then chose the Sweet Poppy Dotty Flowers Stencil for the main image.  I off set the stencil to the left and very carefully, using a piece of Cut n Dry and Black Versafine, I sponged through the stencil until I was satisfied it was well covered.  I removed the stencil and used the clear embossing powder again.

At this point I noticed I'd smudged the image so decided to use a butterfly die from my stash and coloured them in using the distress inks and also used the Wow Clear Embossing pad and powder to give them a bit of a glossy finish, thank goodness for our Butterfly Dies :o)
I then matted the image card onto the black matt and placed onto the white and added a small sentiment.

Well that's it for today, see you again next time.

Layered Hobby Art Card

Good morning, Kirsten here. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. This is a scheduled post, as Lisa & I are the CHSI trade show at the NEC in Birmingham.

For today's card, I used:

This is the second version of this card. After finishing the first one, I decided I didn't like it, so I took it apart, cutting off the poppy heads, the textured stencilling & the sentiment & matting them on to black card.

I began the background by stamping the text stamp from the Poppy Heads set & the hessian stamp from the Textures set with a permanent grey ink, making sure to get partial images only by not covering the stamps with ink. Then I began applying Fresh Lime, Cut Grass & lemon Zest Dylusions with baby wipes, knocking back some of the colour with White Linen Dylusions.........

I have no photos of the next step, but it was just stamping more of the Texture stamps with permanent green & purple inks & splatters of white gesso, mixed with water............

I painted scraps of white Super Smooth card with Grape Crush & Squeezed Orange Dylusions, stamped the poppies with black ink, added shading with London Blue & Postbox Red, cut out the flowers & added the hand-drawn leaves & stems with a permanent black pen............

The finished card again..............

That's it from me for this week. I'll be back next Monday with my final Hobby Art cards for this month. Have a great week.

Hobby Art Poppies

Morning blog visitors, Kirsten here, happy 1st of February. I have two more cards from 2015 to show you today, I made them for the
September masterboard class, but I never got them blogged. The main ingredients are the wonderful Dylusions paints & the gorgeous Poppy Field & Poppy Bloom stamps from Hobby Art, which are back in stock.

The backgrounds are very simple, I just swiped on Dylusions - Cut Grass, Fresh Lime, a little bit of Turquoise - with damp baby wipes, blending until I was happy, then adding splatters of White Linen.

The poppy stamps were stamped directly onto the backgrounds, then again onto scraps of card that I'd painted with Postbox Red, Squeezed Orange & Crushed Grape, the flowers were cut out & glued onto the backgrounds.

I drew the pot by hand on scrap card, cut it out & blended Postbox Red & Melted Chocolate Dylusions with my fingers.

I decided the second card needed something extra, so I applied Sweet Poppy Pearlescent dimension paste through the Imagination Crafts' Leaf Swirl stencil.
