JoFY Snowman

Good morning, Kirsten here, happy chilly Monday. I hope you had a nice weekend. I've got two quick Christmas cards to show you today, both made with the very cute snowman from stamp set JOFY58 from PaperArtsy...................

This one has a background of Victorian Velvet Distress ink, with Picked Raspberry DI sponged lightly through a snowflake stencil and splatters of Silver Starlights Metallic Paint.

I stamped the snowman on to the background with Jet Black Archival and again onto white card with Onyx Black Versafine, heat setting with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder. I coloured his hat and the baubles with pens before cutting him out and fixing him to the background with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear glue.

I finished the card with a little bit of scribbling with black pen and matting and layering onto a 6x6 card blank..............

Card no. 2 was another very quick background. This time Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks on white card, with Royal Blood Infusions from PaperArtsy sprinkled on top and spritzed with water. When that was dry I added splatters of Rich Gold Starlights

I made sure the background was thoroughly dry before applying Imagination Craft's Structure Paste through the same snowflake stencil as above, otherwise the inks would have tinted the paste. I added glitter to the wet paste, but it's not showing up in the photo.

I repeated the steps with the snowman as above, placing him at the bottom of the card this time and adding the sentiment from JOFY56....................

October Newsletter

Hi everyone, long time no see!! Welcome to the October newsletter. Apologies for not blogging for a while. I had great intentions, but every week Wednesday seemed to come and go before I'd even realised!

I hope you've had an enjoyable September. I spent a few days with Sue and Harvey of Imagination Crafts two weeks ago. Sue and I demoed at the Exter Hobbycrafts show and as always, we had a great time. We met lots of lovely crafters and had a lot of fun.  The next time I'll see Sue and Harvey will be at the Hobbycrafts Christmas show at the NEC in Birmingham, I'm already looking forward to it.

The most important thing to tell you right at the start is that there are NO classes in Fant Hall, Maidstone, next Friday October 6. The hall is not available, unfortunately, so I have decided to take myself off to Spain for a little holiday. I leave tomorrow morning and I can't wait! As a result, if you order from the website between now and October 11, it won't be dispatched until October 12. However, if you're attending my Grove Green workshop on October 15 select 'Store Pick-up' when you check out and I'll bring your order to the workshop.

Speaking of the workshop; there are still places available if you'd like to learn how to get the best out of Imagination Crafts' fantastic Rusty Patina.

There will be two projects; a working clock and an 8x8 canvas panel.................

We'll be using various colours of Rusty Patina as well as Alchemy Waxes and Starlight Metallic Paints.

Included in the £30 workshop fee will be the projects, a bag of embellishments to use on your projects - any you don't use will be yours to take home - and a FREE 6x6 stencil.
The venue is Grove Green Community Hall, Penhurst Close, ME14 5BT.

You can book online, or email me; lisabaker1@btinternet.com, before Saturday, October 14.
Please bring your lunch, (there is a Tesco beside the hall), an apron, paint and stencil brushes - my go-to stencil brushes are the domed stencil brushes and they are available on the website.

The workshop after the Rusty Patina one will be the Christmas workshop on November 12.

A kit to the value of £20 is included in the £40 workshop fee and more information can be found HERE.

The next classes at Fant Hall, Maidstone ME16 8NN will be on Friday, October 27. The projects will be two cards with a snowman theme..............

We will be using Distress and Versa Color inks, colouring pens and lots of loose glitter!

If you would like to join us on Friday October 27, there a couple of places left in both classes; 2.30 - 5.30pm and 6.30 - 9.30pm. The class fee is £16 and this includes your projects, a tool kit to use during the class and tea/coffee and a slice of cake.
Places must be booked in advance; a deposit of £6, or full payment, will secure your place. Please contact me by lunchtime on Thursday October 26; lisabaker1@btinternet.com/01622 675078

I've added some very cute snowmen stamps to the website and restocked items that sold out at the September class, as always, you'll find all the new products in the

Frosty the Snowman

Hello crafters, Julie here, hope you're well. Where has the time gone?? I can't believe it's the 1st of November!! The Argos catalogue is out and my son has started his Christmas wish list ready to write to Santa......

Today I'm going to share with you a card I had great fun making and one that can be done in stages whenever you have some time to spare, I used the Imagination Crafts Snowman Art Stamp, it's a  very cute image.

Firstly, I stamped the Snowman Art Stamp with Onyx Black Versafine ink on to Super Smooth card and heat embossed with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder. I then chose my Starlights colours: Pearl, Mint, Zinober Gold and Green to paint in my stamped image. I dispensed a small amount of paint on to my tile, mixed with a little water and started painting - I mixed the Pearl with a bit of Diamond Sparkle Medium for good measure to add to the sparkle!

I put the image aside to dry and set about doing my background, for which I used the
Christmas Words Art stamp on a kraft card blank, with Versamark ink and WOW! Bright White embossing powder, which I heat set. Repeat stamping until I covered the card.

Then the fun bit.... I mixed a bit more Zinober Gold Starlights with some water and used a wide brush to paint over (wiping the embossed text slightly with a paper towel). I was really impressed with the background as it's got the really good shimmer of a posh Christmas card!

I die cut some holly from some scraps of super smooth and painted these in the same way with Green Starlights and while this was drying I square cut my snowman and matted this onto a piece of silver Mirri card.

With all the components made for my card I put them all together. Mounting the matted snowman on double sided sticky pads and using Cosmic Shimmer to glue on the holly, with the finishing touch of a few red gems to pick out the holly berries.

I was pleased with this card and the shimmer the Starlights gave it, which I think make it extra special but very easy to achieve. I'm really getting into Christmas cards now the weather is a little chillier!
