Hobby Art Poppy & Distress Ink

Hello crafters, Jan here, it's Friday once again and I have another Hobby Art Poppy  project for you.

I started with a 7" x 7" White Card Blank, then cut a piece of White Super Smooth card cut to 5" x 5".
Using the Stampeazee I stamped the large poppy from the Hobby Art In The Cornfield Stamp Set and using Memento Tuxedo Black just off the centre of the card, then stamped the smaller poppy and a couple of seed heads as you see here.

Next I stamped both poppies and seed heads onto some Mask-It and cut out and stuck them over the images so I could distress half the card.

I used Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink and a mini blending tool quite lightly diagonally across the card, then removed the Mask-It.

I then used my Water Colour Pencils for the main images before stamping over one side using the Imagination Crafts Script Stamp.  I joined the seed head to the flower stem with a Fine Black pen.

(Sorry about the quality of the photo in this one)

Next I matted the image onto some Black Card then again onto some White and lastly onto some more black before placing on the main card blank.

A very quick and easy card today that can be used for most occasions.

Hobby Art Framed Poppy

Hi there crafters, I hope you're all well and looking forward to Spring even though it's been quite cold this week.

Today's little card is made up of Hobby Art Stamps and Imagination Crafts Starlights.

So first of all I took a 7" x 7" white blank card and then cut a square of White Super Smooth card to about 6" x 6".  Then took the Hobby Art In The Cornfield Stamp set and stamped the largest poppy in the centre of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the Stampeazee

I then stamped the image again onto some Mask-it and covered the poppy head and stamped another large poppy to the right.  I then stamped the poppy seed head on the second poppy and the small poppy to the left of the first poppy.  Once that was I done I stamped the little poppy head onto a post-it note and cut it out to use as a mask.  I covered the small poppy head and stamped the large poppy again but on the right.................phew, too many poppies sounds like I'd stamped a field of them.

I coloured them all in with a wash of Red Starlights and water to bring out more sparkle for the head and Menthol for the stems.  Left that to dry for a while then run them through with a die cut frame from my stash to create the frame.  I purposely made sure the frame covered the flowers.

I raised the frame with 3D foam pads before putting it place on the blank card then flat matted the main image inside the frame.

And there you have it, a simple and easy little card.

I hope you enjoyed it today and see you again very soon
Love, Jan -x-

A Birthday Hare in a Field of Lavender

Good morning ladies and gents, Martina here with the first of my Hobby Art 'March Hares' posts for this month!
How are you doing? Made any new crafty creations lately? I have been busy in my craft room working with lots of new mediums, dies, stamps and stencils. There are so many lovely things to tempt us all at the moment! In Lisa's class last week we were all playing with bright and zesty colours, making scenes pop with contrasts and being very brave! The classes are perfect for this, you can have a 'try before you buy' as well as taking the opportunity to see what others are doing all around you...

My first card for the month is a really simple one. I love the image of the large hare in the Hobby Art set, so I wanted to make him the focal point.
Using Watercolour Card, I stamped 'Hercules' the hare, (as I call him) with Memento Ink to one side of the topper and one of the Hobby Art Birthday Collection sentiments to the other.

I made a mask for each element, as my original intention was to cover both features when moving onto the next step...

For my first attempt, I masked the sentiment and Hercules and then stamped some foliage in the background using the other elements from the set. I stamped and coloured everything in with Kuretake Clean Colour Brush Markers.
I didn't like it. To me, the sentiment looked odd just hanging there, and Hercules looked like he had been sunburnt...

That one went in the bin and I changed tack slightly! Deciding to go a little 'softer' in tone, I used lighter browns and picked out the 'lavender' style flower to use behind him.

This time I was happier, but I needed to tie-in the background. There is a little flower stamp in the set, so I stamped this randomly around the topper and coloured with the same tones as before. I then used some Grape Crush Stickles to make them pop and sparkle. I added some white highlights to Hercules.

The background was still a little sparse, so I stamped some of the same flower, but this time did not colour them in. Some complementary layers and all done!

Thank you for reading - next week I will be looking at a scene peaking through a forest...I look forward to seeing you then!

Love
Martina

Red Poppy

Hi there crafters, thank you for dropping by the blog today, I hope you've all been out enjoying this lovely weather.

This weeks blog is poppy based again, and nice and simple.

So I took a 6" x 6" card and matted it with black card then silver card, then a smaller layer of white super smooth which I stamped the Stampendous Vintage Contact stamp through the Imagination Crafts Bubble Stencil using Memento Tuxedo Black ...............

...............to create this background

I then stamped the Woodware Field of Poppies Stamp onto Super Smooth Card twice. I painted the Poppies on one of the images using Post Box Red Dylusions paint.  I cut around the first layer and mounted onto matt silver card then just cut around to create an edging before matting onto black card.

Then coloured in the second image in the same way before cutting out the poppy heads and mounted onto the first image using mounting foam.

I finished off by mounting the layers up and felt that was all it needed.  I hope the like this simple little card.  Look forward to seeing you this month workshop :o)

Woodware Poppy and Dylusions

Hello crafters, hope you are all well, sorry I haven't been around, it's been very busy.

Today's card is very different for me in the way of colour, and I do like it, the Dylusions have lots of vibrant colours.

So I started with a 7" x 7" white card and matted it with silver mirri, then created another matt with white card but stamped it around the edges using the script stamp from the Hobby Art Poppy Heads Stamp Set and Memento.

I then stamped the Woodware Field of Poppies onto some Super Smooth card twice using Versafine Black Onyx and embossed it with WOW Clear Powder

I then coloured them in using the following:

Postbox Red - Poppies
Fresh Lime - Grass, Poppy Buds, Leaves
Lemon Zest - Sun
White Linen for mixing

The second image I'd stamped I used to decoupage the flower heads and buds.

To create the various greens I used a little bit of black acrylic paint for the leaves then lightened it again with more of the Fresh Lime to get a slightly different hue for the flower buds.  To make the London Blue lighter for the sky I just added a little of the white until I got the desired colour.  I cut out the images and mounted them on the image with foam pads.

I then just mounted it all together onto the card but wanted to break up the harsh stamped background so just added another matt before layering the image onto silver mirri and foam mounted onto the card.

I then added some clear gems, a Sue Wilson Classic Bow and a couple of little butterflies.

Short and sweet today, but I hope you like it and get inspired with the Woodware Stamps and Dylusions :o)

Love Jan xx
