Thoughts of Spring...Nesting...

Morning all,
Hope your week is going ok.
Well it's my Thursday slot again and I've used a lovely stamp set from
Hobby Art called Nesting, it's a four stamp set.
I wanted to create a nesting theme and, I chose to compliment it with a
New two die set from Marianne Creatables called Anja's Vintage Frame. (30% off in the

.

I cut the main outer frame and two of the Lattice inners from smooth stamping card.
The Lattice inner reminded me of a trellis which is where the idea generated for this design.

I stamped the main image of the birds with the nest onto the main die cut frame using
I coloured the image using alcohol based markers but equally
Watercolour pencils would look great.

To the trellis work I added some scraps of hessian and cheesecloth.
The hessian I glued behind the trellis and I threaded some small pieces of cheesecloth and hessian threads through the holes to resemble nesting material.
A few Pink Mulberry Flowers finished off these trellis pieces.

I Glued the trellis pieces flat on to a piece of Kraft card and layered the center image with
Foam pads before mounting the whole thing on to a homemade card blank.

That's it, I hope you like it and thank you for popping by today.

Patchwork Squares

*This post is part of the January promotion fortnight. Remember to leave a comment to be entered
Morning everyone,
I wish you a Happy New Year and do hope you enjoyed a good Christmas break.

I created a Gelli Plate background with Adirondack ink pads in Wild Plum and Sunshine Yellow, using a brayer to blend the colours and the same stamp sets to add interest on the background.
I didn't ink the stamps or use an acrylic block, I simply stamped them directly onto the brayered ink gelli plate.

Next I cut the background into 5cm squares and stamped the faux stitching using a
I then stamped the various images and textures using both stamp sets.
The base card is a folded piece of A4 Kraft card.
Next I cut squares of Hessian and Cheesecloth material to layer the squares onto before mounting onto the card.
I finished with various buttons, threads and a ribbon bow creating a card for any ocassion.

Don't forget to comment to be entered into the giveaway & most importantly, remember to check the MEGA SALE on the website, there are plenty of bargains to be had, but things are selling out fast.

Thanks for reading my post today,

Crackled Heart

Today I have another of my crackle projects to share with you.
The crackled background is created with acrylic paints and Imagination Crafts Crackle Medium
Dies were used to cut the heart shape from the crackled piece and also from Kraft Card.
I then stamped using one of the stamps from Penny Black Cling/Slapstick Fanciful onto the crackle.
The heart layers were then mounted onto Anna Marie Dottie Card in Powder Pink.
Finishing off with embellishments buttons, lace, string and a paper rose.
I was really pleased with how the crackle and stamping turned out on this card.
Hope you like my Thursday make, have a good day...xKx

Symphony in Distress inks

**This is a Magnificent Men promotion post. Remember to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway.**

Happy Saturday to everyone, no blog post from Lisa today, for reasons that will become clear during the day...............

My starting point was an A4 sheet linen textured, gloss card from Woodware. Not all inks will be permanent on gloss card, but I chose distress inks to see what results I would get. I used Spiced Marmalade & Weathered Wood first, followed by Pumice Stone through the Glitz Craft Hex Bubble stencil. I dried the inks with my heat tool & was surprised at how much the colour faded, you can barely see the stencilling, But I liked the result, so I carried on. By the way, the inks did indeed dry, but as soon as I touched them with a baby wipe the ink came off.

There's a photo missing here, so the next steps were as follows;

Mix gold mica powder with water & splatter onto the card with a paintbrush, dry.

Dry emboss card with Embossalicious Lattice embossing folder.

Cover entire card with embossing ink, cover that with clear embossing powder, shake off the excess & heat set with a heat tool.

Stick card to kraft card base, doodle faux stitching on kraft card with a fine liner black pen.

Add Antique Bronze Sparkle Medium through Imagination Crafts Wall stencil, set aside to dry.

I used the Kaisercraft Bubble Wrap stamp to stamp onto a small kraft tag with Weathered Wood & Spiced Marmalade distress inks & distressed the sides with a scissors blade. I added the same type of faux stitching to make a border & added a piece of Woodware Vintage 1 Perfect prints paper that I'd scrunched & distressed with inks. On top went the quote from the HobbyArt Butterfly Kisses
 Musical Print stamp set.

The focal image is from the same stamp set. I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink, putting less pressure on some areas to try to get faded places & blended a little Old Paper distress ink here & there, avoiding the face. I die cut with a Spellbinders label die, did the same with black card to which I added a border with a gold pen.

I stuck a torn scrap of Kaisercraft's Thankful 12x12 paper - onto which I'd hand drawn music notes - behind the tag & added a few buttons & a cog as embellishments.

Layered Birthday Card

**This is a promotion post. Don’t forget to leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway.**

Hello crafters, Kirsten here with the first of my new samples for May, featuring cards with a male theme. Actually, now that I’ve mostly  finished making my samples I’ve noticed that the majority of them are quite abstract & gender free in appearance, with only a few featuring traditionally male images.

There are no step by step photos for today’s card, because it’s simple matting & layering, but I will have a few tutorials for you in the next few weeks.

The papers on this one are;

I used my finger to swipe a little Antique Bronze Sparkle Medium on to the base papers, distressing them by scrunching them up, scratching the edges with scissors & adding distress inks. I used the same SM through the Glitz Craft Hex Bubble stencil on the torn top layer. And there is actual hand sewing around the border of the top layers.

I tore the end off a kraft tag, distressed the edges, added a piece of the reverse side of the Always papers & added a die cut label with the birthday greeting from HobbyArt Butterfly Kisses

I added some buttons & a Crafts Too metal brad as embellishments, stuck everything to a 7x7 kraft card blank & drew some faux stitching with a fine liner black pen.
