Lavinia Stamps & Brusho Crystals

Morning all, happy Monday. How was the second weekend of 2016 for you? I spent it in the craft room, ignoring the rain. I'm following on from Martina's post last Thursday, with a few Lavinia Stamps & Brusho cards of my own, from earlier in 2015........

The Spotty Toadstools were heat embossed with gold embossing powder & Turquoise & Lime Green Brusho mixed with water & brushed on top. I used the Nuevo embossing folder from Couture Creations to dry emboss a piece of Super Smooth card for the top layer..........

Painting the dry embossed layer this time with Lime Green & Turquoise Brusho. This is the Dream embossing folder from Couture Creations. Second & third generation stamping of the Ink Caps with Ripe Persimmon Distress ink. The Spotty Toadstools were heat embossed in gold again & painted with Turquoise & Lemon Brusho.............

For the third card I used
Fresh Lime Dylusions paint through the Imagination Crafts Hexagons stencil, Brilliant Red Brusho splatters on top & stamped the Ink Caps with
Onyx Black Versafine..............

Before I go, I have to give you some news from Google. They're making "improvements" again. This is the announcement from Blogger Buzz............

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.

We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers.

So, there it is, nothing we can do about it. If you want to follow the blog & leave comments, you're going to have to get a Google account & then re-follow. You can sign up to the Follow by Email subscription too.

That's it for today, thanks for visiting the blog, see you next time.

Inked & Embossed, part two

Good morning blog visitors, Kirsten here with the scheduled, second post of yesterday's post.

This time I have applied inks directly to the debossed side of the Without A Lock embossing folder.  Always make sure you apply the ink to the correct side of the folder.  Many times my attention has wandered & I've ended up with the ink on the wrong side.

2013-06-02 002 2013-06-02 011

As with yesterday’s post, I’ve used white, hammered textured cardstock.  Here, I’ve applied Frayed Burlap distress ink using the ink pad.  You get quite a textured result, with different amounts of ink.  I blended Antique Linen & Old Paper on top of the keys, because the white looked too stark.  This seemed to bring the piece together.

I’ve applied Faded Jeans distress ink onto the folder with a brayer for this piece.  You still get some texture, but it looks a little smoother.  And I liked how the white looks against the blue, so didn’t put any ink on top.

2013-06-02 002 2013-06-02 013

On this piece I used a Brilliance pigment ink in a sandy colour.  It’s very pale, with a subtle sheen & works very well with the white keys.

Here are the cards I made.  I kept them all very simple, using just core’dinations card in assorted colours & various embellishments, because I wanted the embossed shapes to be the focal point.

Inked and Embossed, part one

Hello blog visitors, Kirsten here.  I’ve been trying various things with stamps & embossing folders & I thought I’d share a few with you.  I made a total of five cards, so I will split this tutorial into two & post the second half tomorrow.

I started by stamping the Artemio collaged keys stamp onto white hammered textured cardstock with Old Paper distress ink, then blending Antique Linen DI over the image.

Next I embossed the cardstock with the Without a Lock embossing folder.

Swipe the Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain distress inks over the raised areas – not putting an pressure on the blending tool will achieve this.  Add more ink until you’re happy with how the piece looks, drying in between layers of ink.

I then cut the card with a Spellbinders label die & used it on this card.

On the next piece of cardstock I blended blue distress inks; Broken China, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky, again drying in between layers.

I stamped the Artemio stamp in Chipped Sapphire & immediately applied a dark blue mica powder, fixing the powder with a spritz of water.

Despite the sheen from the mica powder this looked a little flat, so I embossed it with the Lattice embossing folder.

Here is a section cut into a tag on this card.  I used the same embossing folder on the red core’dinations & sanded it slightly.
