Imagination Crafts' Rice Paper Decoupage Card

Good morning all! Martina here with another Imagination Craft's Rice Paper project. We used some of these at Lisa's workshop last Sunday and everyone had such fun with them! We all used different papers onto large tote and small calico bags and then chose our own rice papers to add...they were all fantastic designs and SO different from each other!

This week I have used sections from two designs of Rice Paper and combined them on one card. Once I had chosen papers, I was able to pick out some colours within them to add to the rest of the card. I started the project by cutting a piece of Watercolour Card to the size I needed for a topper and then lightly shaking some Lemoncello Infusions all over.

Add a spritz of water and the colour bursts free...

To bring some of the pink tones into the topper and take away the white areas, I used some Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink with a blending tool. I started with the lightest colour all over and then used the darker colour to bring the edges in. Next, I started to add some interest and layers; using the PaperArtsy Stencil PS055 and some Salmon Starlight Paint, I added flowers over the whole area.

Once the paint and paper was all dry, I started to arrange my chosen elements from the Rice Paper. I chose some clocks from 149 Design and cut them out. I didn't want them as they were on the paper, so I fiddled about until I was happy with the layout.

Using some Magi-Bond Decoupage Glue, I built up some layers, stuck all the pieces down and overlapped where needed.

Once the detail was all dry, I decided I wanted to add some interest and sparkle! I used a couple of shapes from the Crafter's Companion Delicate Details Foil Transfers with some Rose Gold Foil in the corners, but then decided I wanted to add even more...(steady, steady I hear you say...) To give a vintage look I added some tacky glue around the edges of the card with my fingers and let dry very slightly. I then used my left over Rose Gold Foil and pressed it into the glue areas.

To add a message I picked a word combination from the Imagination Craft's Take Time Set. As the words are not joined together as one stamp, it is very easy to arrange them in the position that you need them to be - clever, eh? I arranged them on my block so as to fit a tag die from my stash. I then stuck a left over piece of Rice Paper Design 448 onto some card, stamped with Brown Archival Ink and die-cut.

The final touches were to add some matts and layers in coordinating card and some ribbon from my stash.

Difficult to see the foiling in the picture above, but it is there, I promise!
That's it from me this week; happy crafting and I will see you soon!

Love

Imagination Crafts Tree Art Stamps......

Morning all,
How are we all today?

I am back off of my hols and back to reality!!
Do you ever get the holiday blues? I really do when I come back from holiday. I think it is because I relax so much and I am always on the go back at home, so I really find it hard to get going again especially when the weather is 15 degrees lower!!!
Still it gave my body a good rest and the heat did my muscles and bones the world of good.....

Now from 32 degrees of sunshine to Christmas!! How did that happen????
Can you believe we are less than 8 weeks away from Christmas, where has this year gone?

Below is another sample that I made using the gorgeous Imagination Crafts Pine Trees Art Stamp.
I love this stamp as it can be used in so many different ways and it doesn't have to be just for Christmas either......

I did an earlier post HERE where I showed you how I created one of the class cards using this lovely stamp and die cutting it circular and cutting away the trees but I also wanted to tell you how you can extend the stamp to fit on a larger card......

Unfortunately for this card, I got too carried away and forgot to take any photos as I made it, so I will explain. I used a 7" square card for my base and cut two 5" x 7" border strips of white card, I also cut the same size border out of acetate to. Using Versafine Vintage Sepia, I stamped the Imagination Crafts Christmas Script Stamp randomly over the back of one of the pieces of card and embossed it with Wow Sparkle Embossing powder. I added some Antique Linen Distress Ink around the outside of the stamped script piece and then cut two matting layers to go behind it, one in gold and the next in brown. I then matted them up and attached them to the centre of the card.

On the second border piece of white card I then stamped the Pine Tree Stamp using the Vintage Sepia  Ink and lined it up at the bottom left overlapping the stamp slightly, I then repeated this and lined it up with the first impression to continue the trees. I then embossed this image too with Wow Sparkle Powder. Once it was cool I began to cut away the trees leaving the bottom of the image all in place and leaving a small border around the edge of the trees. You can see in the picture below how much of a border I left.....

I then added some watered down Rich Gold Starlights with a paint brush on to the trees down the left hand side to add some sparkle. I wanted to add a little more sparkle to make it look frosty so I used my finger and some Diamond White Sparkle Medium and dotted it over the trees....

When it was dry, I attached the trees to the acetate panel with Cosmic Shimmer Glue, turned it over and added some Diamond White Sparkle Medium to the back of the acetate around the outside top and sides.
Once that was dry (it only takes 5 - 10 mins when used thinly), I 3d'd the acetate panel on to the card over the script panel using thin foam pads. I added two strips of gold lame ribbon from my stash to the top and bottom of the border and added a bow to finish off.......

Well I hope you like today's make......

Kirsten and I are off to the NEC Birmingham today getting ready for the Hobby Crafts and Stitch Show from 3rd to the 6th November. We are working on Imagination Crafts Stand A16, so if you are planning on coming along, then pop by and say Hi.

I will be back next week with another post, please remember
November class is not taking place until November 11.

Take care & have a nice week.

Hugs

Imagination Crafts Snowman Art Stamp......

Morning all......

It is a scheduled post for me today as I am away on my hols taking it easy for a change!
It seems a little weird that I am away in Spain in hot sunshine and just about to show you a snowman Christmas card, lol!
However Christmas is looming up fast and will be upon us before we know it, I can't believe how quickly this year has flown by.......

Anyway on to todays make......

Here is a simple little card below that I made using the Imagination Crafts Snowman Art Stamp. He is a really cute little fellow and is a great stamp to use with Distress Inks for batch card making.

I used Stormy Sky Distress ink and stamped him onto a 4" square of white card. I then used a damp paint brush to draw out the colour from the edge of the stamped image to add some shading.
I then repeated this on to another piece of white card and then cut away the snowman and 3d'd him on top of the first one. I added some clear gems for his buttons and some Cracked Ice with Cosmic Shimmer glue to add a little sparkle to the image.......

For the background I chose to use the Imagination Crafts Snowflakes Stamp Set.....

Again I stamped it with Stormy Sky Distress Ink using random sizes all over the background.
I then mat and layered it using silver mirror card and blue pearl card and lastly added some silver gems to sparkle up the centre of the snowflakes....

I think you will agree it is a lovely simple but very effective, cheerful Christmas card....

Well that is all from me today my lovelies and i will be back next week with some more inspiration.
Have a lovely week....

Big hugs
Lisa B

Imagination Craft's Art Stamps: Sparkly Starlight Santa!

Good morning all! The school run is getting mighty chilly at present, but I see no one with scarves yet, so I am determined to persevere!
A frosty theme is what I wanted with my card for this week, but not just any frost - Starlight coloured, sparkly and pearly!

This card is a very simple one, all the better for this time of year.

My first step was to choose my favourite Imagination Craft's Starlight colours that would blend together making a gradation of blue. I usually work in threes with colours, may it be markers, paints or pencils, so I chose Sax Blue, Mediterranean Blue and Pearl. Taking Watercolour Card and a wide brush, I applied the colours in broad streaks horizontally across the paper. Where the colours met, I went over the join with the lightest colour. I  also mixed some of each colour in a Paint Palette to add even more tones and applied these. You can add water if you want to when mixing, but I love the high pigment and opacity of the paints so I wanted strong concentrations.

Next step was to carry the Starlight look and colour onto my card base. I am usually very wary of stamping straight onto my card blank, but I know that the Starlight Paint will not warp or seep into the paper. I poured a small amount of Sax Blue Starlight Paint onto a Heat Resistant Craft Sheet and transferred onto a firm Brayer.

I then brayered directly onto the Imagination Craft's Christmas Words Stamp, concentrating more on certain areas. Making sure not to saturate the stamp as the text is beautifully detailed, I positioned the stamp towards the top right corner and bottom left corner of my 7x7 card blank. You can also use Cut and Dry foam to make a 'paint pad' if you prefer - whatever works for you!

The next step was to cut out a section from my (now dry) painted watercolour card to the size I wanted for my topper panel. Onto this panel I stamped the Imagination Craft's Santa Claus using Clear Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Wow Opaque White Embossing Powder.  I also made a matching mini panel from a small leftover piece of the painted card and stamped a sentiment from the Hobby Art Poinsettia Set (embossing as before). To add dimension to my card, I rummaged in my stash and found some small MDF snowflakes. I painted these with the 3 colours of the Starlights that I had originally chosen and stuck them to my card (once I had deliberated enough!) As an aside, the paints take to the MDF very well with no priming at all. In this case though, it would have been much better to have used the Imagination Craft's Art Cut Snowflakes as these are soooo much lighter on your card! (hint, hint, HINT!!)

All matted and layered...

He is a rather jolly chap isn't he? I do like the old fashioned feel to him, just like he should be.
I hope you like it; a simple card with a stamp that does all the work for you!

Love
Martina
