My creative space....

My lovely sisters's lovely friend is having a baby (due on Valentines Day) and has decorated her nursery in greys and yellows.  Thinking how lovely some bunting and a matching cushion might be in the same colours she popped a sewing request into me and I came up with this....

I must say that I am loving my crafty self over it!  I had seen a lovely cushion on pinterest of course with mini bunting spread across it and it looked terribly fancy and clever so I came up with this version.  It is just a simple envelope style cushion cover since I am yet to attempt that whole zip situation.

I made the mini bunting on the front of the cushion as you would normal size bunting.  I pinned the flags into the stripey binding and then pinned that straight onto the pillow so I only had one stitch line tthrough the whole thing.  The bunting flags hang loose.  The cushion cover is just calico.

A perfect match I think!

My creative space... Back on the hook

My creative spaces have been all about birthdays lately and I was having SEVERE hooky withdrawals!  I was actually getting a little concerned that I might have forgotten how but lo and behold, it's just like riding a bike!  My hooky claw hand came right back within moments - there must be some kind of crochet muscle memory!

I have been vegging out these last couple of nights in front of Offspring repeats (thank you Channel 10 - it's just as funny the second time round!) and churning out these snowflakes and christmas trees.  A friend requested some to be made into a garland for her tree so I do hope she likes them.

I follow the most excellent and free tutorial over at The Royal Sisters.

And because I couldn't leave without mentioning the Rainbow Party that will be happening in three sleeps...
...the cake bunting is ready!

Bunting Swap almost posted...

I've managed to finish off all my crochet bunting for Squiggly Rainbow's bunting swap and they are going in the post tomorrow!  Yay me!  Two of my recipients live abroad - one in the UK and one in Sweden.  Another lives right in the next suburb from me now and one lives in the town my uni boyfriend came from in Tassie!

Hope all my recipients like them.  I cant wait to start getting my pieces!

My creative space....

I feel like I have lost my bloggy mojo this week.  Do you ever get like that?

There are loads of things I could talk about but I find I am censoring myself, writing posts then deleting them, not sure whether some things are in the 'way to much information' basket or whether I am sharing too much of my small people's quirks, habits and behaviours that possibly might embarrass them when they are older.

I sat in my sewing room this week instead and tried to make things.  I stuffed up big time - wasted time and ruined some really nice material.  I comforted myself by leaving a mess all over my sewing table, retreating to the couch with repeats of Grey's Anatomy, a jar of nutella and a spoon.  I find this solves most of the worlds problems.

I tried to make a hat from my new book.  It did not go well.  I found a fabulous apple pin cushion pattern and managed to successfully whip one up that looks like it's supposed to.  And when all else failed, I crocheted more triangles, ready for the Bunting Swap.

My new book, my new apple pincushion, my triangles (but they could be yours!)

Cute, yes?

I have been using Sarah London's pattern for Granny Bunting.

Ever lost your mojo?

You might be able to find it again over here.

My creative space.... Bunting!

No exciting pics I'm afraid.  I took off over the weekend so missed lots of potentially crafty time.  I have signed myself up though for Squiggly Rainbow's Bunting Swap, which I think is such a fabulous idea - make as many flags as you feel up to, post them off and recieve a variety of ones in return.  I am sure everyone will end up with quite an eclectic mix!

I, of course, am crocheting triangles for my bunting pieces.

I've been testing out a couple of different patterns to see which one I like best.  I think I might stick with the more traditional granny square pattern looking one.

Hope everyone is having a creative week.

My creative space

After being completely inspired by this image from the Frankie blog:

I have searched through my linen cupboard to find these dollies we inherited from my husbands dead nanna.  My MIL was just going to throw them out anyway, so would it be completely sacrilegious to cut them up and make bunting???  And if I do start cutting into them, are they just going to fall apart?  Any tips from anyone who knows about cutting into dead nanna's doilies, I'd love to hear from you!
