"Three on the Salish Sea"

Winter Solstice was all sunny and bright and full of LIGHT
for the Traditional Winter Solstice
Linnyland Painting Adventure - UNTIL the paint was
squeezed out on the pallette!!
Still, it was a JOYJOYJOY
to be out in Nature, on the edge of the Salish Sea, amongst the Otters,
Eagles, Kingfishers and the Looky-Lou Puppers!!

New Moon & Lighthouse

Only four more days
until Winter Solstice...and then the return
 of the LIGHT!
(According to Linny-Lore,
it's tradition to celebrate Winter Solstice
in this way: write a list of what
you'd like to leave behind along with the darkness,
then write another list of what you'd like to welcome into
your life along with the return of the light.)
~
And speaking of light, here is the Brockton Point Lighthouse,
in Stanley Park,  in Vancouver BC,
in LINNYLAND!!

"In Front of Lulu's House"

On the afternoon of Winter's Solstice I went
on a painting adventure with
 fellow, fellow artist, Jeffrey Boron.
From where I painted, just over in Linnyland,
I had a view of little red roofed houses
and the Sooke hills beyond.
While I painted Lulu came by and told me
that she lives in one of the Queen's houses,
then she told me some stories about her home and the area.
Before she left we had talked
cedar, sweet grass and some more Linny lore.

"Little, Little Lighthouse" (Race Rocks Lighthouse) SOLD

In honor of the winter solstice
here's a little light for everyone.
Happy Winter Solstice!
As of today we, in the northern hemisphere,
begin to experience an increasing amount of
daylight in every day.
According to Linny lore, the Winter solstice
is a day to release whatever
you'd like into the dark days of the past
and welcome whatever you'd like in to your life
along with the return of the light.
(I can see the Race Rocks Light from my studio window,
so, with a pair of binoculars and some Linnyland imaginings,
I welcomed this little painting into being.)

Little, Little Light (Fisgard Lighthouse) STOLEN

This is a tale of dark and light from Linnyland.
I was going to wait and post
this little, little Linnyland lighthouse painting
to celebrate Winter Solstice.
Winter Solstice is the day of the year
just before we, in the northern hemisphere,
begin our return towards the light and, little by little,
we begin to experience longer days of daylight.
Unfortunately, "Little, Little Light"
has vanished into the dark,
the victim of a little, little art heist.
On Friday I delivered "Little, Little Light",
along with other small paintings, to my Victoria art galleries,
(in time for December's season of the small painting).
Sadly, over the weekend, a grinch took
"Little Little Light" from the wall of one of the galleries.
"Little, Little Light" stands 12 inches high and 6 inches wide
and was last seen wearing a black wooden floater frame.
If you have any information regarding
"Little Little Light" and/or it's whereabouts
please contact me, the gallery, or the Victoria police.
Please help return "Little Little Light" from the dark to the light.
Help me to spread the news...
Make it right, return "Little, Little Light!"

Little Light SOLD

Happy Solstice Everyone!
The first time that I painted
the Fisgard Lighthouse it was on location
and it was a cold but sunny wintery morning.
Since then I've painted a few more "Fisgards" on
different shapes and sizes of canvas, and oddly,
I've painted them all in the
months of December.
Each time that I paint the lighthouse it
ends up being balanced on a slightly higher rock
and the last two have had fences as safe boundaries as well.
I'm sure that by this time in December we can all relate to the
lighthouse and are feeling the need to rise high above it all with
our boundaries in tact. So, on Winter Solstice today,
as you celebrate the return of the light
may you all have a little time to yourself to
find your balance and enjoy the light
- high above it all.
Wishing you joy & light!

November Light - Highrock Park

This one is from an earlier in November adventure to

Highrock Park in Esquimalt with fellow fella painter,

Jeffrey has claimed thatthere are easily 100 paintings

to be painted in this park and I'm in agreement

- so, that means 200, doesn't it?!

We painted at the park on one of the few November days

that had any sort late afternoon light...only 21 more days until

Winter Solstice and then the light starts it's return.
