"Reefer"

Blue Moon Week in Linnyland included;
studio time (stay tuned...),
a wee Linnyland painting adventure where,
as I zoomed in on an old ship
(that rumour has, will be sunk to create a diving reef),
the many "lookers" who wandered by included
the trio of Lorenzo the dog, Blue Eyed Daughter
and her Blue Eyed Father
(who was a Robert Genn doppelganger if I ever saw one
-- although I have no idea of Robert Genn's eye color)
and who shared samplings of their freshly
picked (dark blue) blackberries, a swimming adventure
in the blue-green waters of Secret Lake with Otters,
blue Dragonflies and a blue-grey Kingfisher,
the scent of Sweet Grass,
blue skies of swooping Swallows,
a meadow of Queen Anne's Lace,
more blue skies this time full of Turkey Vultures,
and another swim under a blue sky in the blue-green waters
of Not A Secret Lake
and last night's orange Blue Moon!

"Light & Joy" Hampton Gallery

You're invited!

"Hampton's "Light & Joy showcases the work of
Gaye Adams and Linny D. Vine throughout May...

Vine's work is pure joy - joy in colour, style, and composition.
Her landscapes and cityscapes are full of energy and movement,
and can be just a little bit quirky, too!

Both of these artists will be in attendance for this show opening May 3rd.
Mark your calendars as you don't want to miss this incredible show
celebrating "Light & Joy"."

"Early Morning Light"

Happy, Happy Winter Solstice!

Welcome the return of Light!
As the light returns we may release
what we no longer want or need in our life into the darkness.
And with the light we welcome what we wish

Mighty Memory

Recently I have been on a bit
of a grain elevator jag
that was initially inspired by my early,
(and nearly only), memories of the prairies. I painted this one
and afterwards I was
doing a little grain elevator research,
and discovered that this one, the Fleming, Saskatchewan elevator,
(built in 1895), was Canada's
oldest standing elevator on it's original site. That same evening
artist Barbara Muir left me a comment,
saying that she had heard sad news
of a fire that destroyed one of the old wooden elevators.
Tragically, it was the Fleming elevator.
The residents of Fleming had been working
to restore their historic elevator
and were nearly finished the restoration.
My heart goes out to the people of Fleming
on their devastating loss.

Emily and Woo SOLD

This giant and very royal arbutus tree
stands on the front lawn of
the Empress Hotel,
(beside the Belmont Building
showing through the arbutus tree).
These historic buildings are located on Government Street
in the heart of Victoria's inner harbour.
The Empress Hotel, designed by Francis Rattenbury,
was built during Emily Carr's lifetime and very near
to Emily's family home.
And, wouldn't you know it, Emily and Woo happened to wander by
while I was working on this painting ...

Midsummer Dream SOLD

Late this morning I went for
a "the last weekend of summer lake swim"
to the local lake that was the inspiration for this painting.
During the walk in from the road, along the trail to the lake,
the temperature didn't exactly feel like swimming weather,
but the lake water felt beautiful and
I'm grateful to have had one more
swim this summer.

September Sky - Saxe Point Park SOLD

This one is from an earlier in September
painting adventure to one of my
neighbourhood parks, (Saxe Point Park in Esquimalt).
I'm dazzled, intrigued, and inspired, by
all of the different shades of
gold that we, in this area, are experiencing
in our September early morning skies.
