Welcome october, decorations for my home

Dear fellows. I'm so damn stressed, my job takes too much of my sparetime and I don't even have time for my studies. I have also missed to have a clean and decent home because I don't have time to keep it up. But today I  had to start a little. Im blogging from my phone so please excuse if the text looks weird and photos are not aligned.

The kitchen got a slight clean and curtains (havent put up curtains for a year). My only pumpkin for this year has turned orange plus some orange mini pumpkins gives the right colour for the season.

Of all places , I found this adorable pumpkin lantern at our "outsale store" Ö&B. It's very much my type and is a perfect add to my livingroom. That store is one of few who actually sells halloween stuff here in Sweden.

A Gothic Easter

Oh I guess some of you have seen these easter decorations before but this cabinet in the photo below is new in our kitchen. Its a lavoar/potty cabinet. There is a lid on top were you can put a washing bowl and a cabinet for your water or potty. I will paint it on the inside before I put something in it I can assure you. I got it from free from a friend that bought an old farm. The cabinet was so filthy (found in one of the separate buildings) with some brown red splatter over it, EWW!! Common scrubbing didn't work but Svinto (soaped steelwool).

As my beloved is allergic to anything that sprouts has fur or feathers these twigs will do fine as easter sticks. The twigs were once used for spanking each other as a reminder of Jesus sufferings, weird tradition...But during the 17 hundreds the twigs were decorated, better tradition. These eggs are painted by me and Oskar long ago.

So were do the Gothic comes in... Well here! Our black livingroom will have the gloomier decorations. Mossy twigs, gothic crosses and victorian styled eggs. 

These decorations are made by me years ago. I store the eggs securely in boxes during rest of the year. 

The decorations has an old Catolic style because I like that aestetic.

I made this decoration long ago with scraps. The backround are a scrap piece from the wall paper in my former house. The little text means pastime.

Interior details for a Lolita

 Many things at IKEA are soo boring, that so called Scandinavian style can be very dull with too many straight corners. But Ikea do have some few items that are must have's as well. 

Take a look at the childrens department next time, they have a new line for young girls wich I think is lovely and irresistable. The bed linen called Silkig (silky) have a unicorn and bouncing bunnies print along with swirls and flower ornaments. The flipside of the duvet cover is pink. They also have small matching cusions with a unicorn print. I beleive those who love Lolita style also would love these. 

The glass on the bed was only 1 €. I bought eight glasses and these will be our new everyday glasses. Even if they are a bit chunky I think they will add a little Victorianescue feel to our everyday dinners.

You know I'm fond of owles. These cute ones were bought at a store called Rusta for 10€. Johan saw them on his Instagram feed and I hurried to buy them. They must have been popular because they ran out immediately.

I'm about to finish my essay and prepare my presentation for next weeks visit at the University. I'm looking forward to going there and see my friend C and my awesome study mates. One was published in a science newspaper in an article about 3-d printed organs. Read it here.

Decorating for christmas

I was home with a coughing Alfons today and finally got time to do some decorations in the kitchen. The advent lights should have been fixed a couple of weeks ago but, didn't have any time. 

I think that maybe was meant because the ribbon I bought in Tällberg was perfect for this.

Here's a closer look at one of the candles, no 3. I made those figures several years ago and have used them every year since then but with different ribbons.

The moss is picked in the forest by our house. I like to decorate with natural elements and green moss is a perfect material.

I love those bottle brush trees, they are my etsy addiction I have to confess. The bottlebrush forest grows every year. The mini pumpkins I bought for Halloween is still in great condition so I can't throw them away.

The zinc cones got purple hyacints that fills the kitchen with a lovely scent.

Christmas is very much about filling the house with nice smells. Like baking gingerbreads. I have my own recipe (of course I have to creat the weel once again) with my own secret spices added. Thats why I baking in the same speed the family are eating them. I can tell you I filled 1,5 cans and there is only one halv left, within a few hours. 

By the way; spicy cookies are good medicine for children with cough, but too many gives stomach ache.

Easter parade

 I was late with the easter decorations this year. But since I don't overdo it, it doesn't take much time.
I reused the twigs from halloween to put hen feathers, decorated eggs and crosses in it. This kind of decorations is very common in sweden but they use fresh budding twigs and colourful decorations instead.

The tradition with these twigs is an old reminder of Jesus suffering at the cross, when family members whipped each others during the lent. Today this sounds so weird and domestic violence is illegal, the twigs are used as decorations.

My zinc cones are filled with tiny yellow flowers.

 Oskar has made the towel hanger at school.

Even if the snow is still laying on the ground the sun is warm enought to let us sit on the porch to eat lunch or a short coffee brake (fika).

The cage is decorated with a LED-candle, twigs, feathers and misc eggs.

 I'm recovering from a stomach flu that hit the whole family. It came so inconvenient. We were supposed to selebrate Alfons 9th birthday this weekend with his friends and a treasure hunt, but it's not possible in these conditions :(. 

A good medicine for stomach flu is to carefully sip coca cola mixed with water.

Modest decorations. Gothidays 2012 day three

I realized yesterday when I decorated my home that I don't use or have much decorations in my home. I can't overdo it and I can't use things I don't like, like kitschy santas, figures of straw and bright red pointsetta cloths. One thing I always do is my own Advent candle tray. This year, I used a silver tray and white moss. I have made the numbers with iron thread and a few pearls and the ribbons are old letter ribbons.

I choiced to go for a quick fix for the door this year. A friend of mine had bought a grave wreath for her door for only 2,5 € at the supermarket. I went to look for one myself and came home with this one. You simply lay it in front of the grave stone. I sprayed it with snow spray and added a shabby hemp rope to it and hung it on the door. 

I'm a bit embarrased to show the door. I painted the porch the first summer we moved in but haven't painted the door yet.

I have started to look for nice boquets in the supermarket for fair prices and this time a twig of white lilies came with me home. This is how the mirror table in the hallway look like now. The table cloth is a art noveau cloth that I have embroderied myself. I almost cannot imagine myself doing this with all those stiches! A praying madonna stands under the glass dome.

Almost too cute

I've had a horrible weekend. I can only describe it with one word: Tooth ace. 

But somehow I manage to clean the house and together with Johan arrange a dinner for a couple of friends on saturday. I took some strong pills to ease the pain a little.

I wanted to do something nice with the kitchen so I bought some flowers. The little pot below is actually a tea light holder.

Jag har haft en eländig helg. Jag kan bara beskriva eländet med ett ord: Tandvärk. Hursomhelst så lyckades jag planera och genomföra en middag igår tillsammans med Johan och några vänner. Jag fick äta starka piller  för att bli av med lite av värken. Jag ville göra något fint till dukningen så jag köpte lite blommor att dekorera köket med. Den lilla krukan på bilden nedan är egentligen en liten ljuskopp.

With some fabrics I bought from Green Gate a year ago I sew a cover for the kitchen bench. It's a little bit too small to cover the whole lid. 

Med lite tyg från Green Gate som jag köpte förra året så sydde jag en dyna till kökssoffan. Den är en liiten aning för liten för att täcka hela locket.

One of the zinc cones also got a mini rose tucked in it.

En av zinkkonerna fick också en ros.

So as I show all this cuteness I'll top it with the lampshade Tuli didn't want me to destroy. It looked actually perfect on his lamp on his bedside table.

Så jag kan lika gärna fortsätta rida på den rosa vågen och visa lampskärmen som Tuli ville att jag skulle spara för honom. Den blev riktigt bra på hans lampfot vid sängen.

So tomorrow I will be going to work again. I'm really not in the mood for that. I haven't slept for days it feels like. The tooth have a crack down to the bone and is not able to be fixed :'( .


Imorgon är det dax att arbeta igen. Jag är verkligen inte upplagd för det. Jag har inte sovit på flera dagar. Tandjäveln är sprucken ända ner i roten och är inte möjlig att reparera :'(.

Monthly theme post: GRAY

Dags att tona ner sig lite efter senaste färgglada inlägget mot en dovare gråskala, för det är dax för Sophistique Noirs månadstema, denna gång är det grått.

So lets tone down the colours from the last entrie a bit into a gray scale. Because it's time for Sophistique Noirs monthly theme and this time it's gray.

Vi kan börja med grått i interiör och dekorationer: Grått är en färg jag faktiskt älskar, den är inte så tråkig bara beroende av hur du använder den. Min favorit målarfärg är vit linoljefärg smutsad med lite kimrök (som ger den en duvgrå färg) eller med lite grön umbra (som ger den en smutsgrå åt lite grönt färg), perfekt att matcha med vitt. Så har jag gjort på verandan här hemma. När det kommer till inredningsdetaljer är den gråa zinken ett enkelt material som ger lite råhet till romantisk stil. Vad kan beskriva det bättre än det här hjärtformade zinkfatet som Tuli har gjort ett litet landskap på. Han har lagt grön mossa, en väderbiten pinne och några rostfärgade stenar på det.

Let's start with the home interior and decorations. Gray is a colour I love in interiors. It's not a dull colour, it just depends on how you use it. My favourite paint is white linseed oil with some carbon black (gets a dove grey colour) or with some umber (gives a greenish gray) it's a perfect paint to match white. Have this colour scheme on my porch. When it comes to details zinc is a easy material to give a roughness to a romantic style.  What describes it better than this heart shaped tray of zinc. My youngest Tuli (thats his fairy name) have made a little landscape of moss, a twig and some rust coloured stones.

Mina zinkkoner är mina favoritdetaljer i köket. Den kronformade kanten på toppen är så fin. Jag brukar stoppa blommor eller kvistar i dem beroende på säsong. (se föregående inlägg).

My zinc cones in the kitchen are my favourite details. I love the crown shaped trimming at the top of them. I put flowers or twigs in them depending on season (see previous post).

Så när det kommer till kläder föredrar jag att matcha grått med svart. När jag tittar in i min garderob så ser jag mer grått än jag väntat mig, i ränder och olika toner. Jag bär ofta kläder i flera lager och ofta jersey tyger.  Bilden nedan visar hur jag har lagt lagren, grå tights, en svart kort kjol, en långärmad grårandig tröja och uppepå en kortärmad svart top. Ursäkta att jag inte visar mig själv i helfigur, jag är inte så bekväm med mig själv just nu.

When it comes to clothes, I prefer to match the greys with black. Looking in my wardrobe, I see lots of grey clothes, stripe patterned or different shades. I often wear clothes in layers and very often jersey knits. The picture below shows how I layer grey leggings a black short skirt, grey striped long sleved shirt and a black short sleeved top. Sorry for not posting whole pictures, I dont feel very comfortable with my self right now.

Så här använder jag grått förra helgen. Jag hade min svarta hemsydda förklädesklänning och en av de te färgade underkjolarna och till det grårandiga nylonstrumpor. Det som inte syns är den grå toppen jag hade under klänningen. Jag tyckte att kombinationen med beige, grått och svart funkade riktigt bra.

This is how I used the colour grey last weekend. I used my home made black apron dress and one of my tea dyed petticoats, and my grey and black striped tights. Not visible is a grey top underneath the dress. I thougt the combination with the beige/salmon petticoat, the grey and black matched very nice. 

Färgerna nämnda ovan kan ju se hopplöst enkla och tråkiga ut var för sig, men matchat och kombinerat tillsammans så händer det grejer. Den gråa av mina tunika klänningar har en lite dammgrå ton av sig. Igår så kom jag på den perfekta kombinationen till mitt lariat halsband som jag köpt av svägerskan. Eftersom jag inte är så förtjust i beige (ändå tycker jag så mycket om det här halsbandet) så har jag haft problem med att hitta ett plagg som passar till det, ända tills jag provade det till den här tunikan.

The colours mentioned above used alone can look ridiculously plain and dull, but matched together something happens. The grey one of my tunic dresses is have a little bit of dusty tone in the colour. Yesterday I found the perfect match for a lariat necklace I had bought from my sister in law. Since I'm not a fan of beige (though I love this necklace) I had problems to use it with something until I tried this combo.

 Jag vill varmt rekommendera min svägerskas smycken. Hon är väldigt talangfull och kreativ. Ni hittar smyckena i hennes etsy shop eller på hennes smyckes blogg. 


 I will highly recommend my sister in laws jewellery, she's very talented and  you can find it at her etsy store or her jewellery blog.

Lite försiktiga pasteller

Häromdagen städade jag köket och tog bort allt som påminner om jul och vinter. Änglaljustaken byttes ut mot en kaffepanna.

The other day I cleaned the kitchen and took away everything that reminded of christmas or winter. The angel candle light holder is replaced by a coffe pot.

På tallrikshyllan fick det komma upp lite pastelliga kökssaker, som dessertskålarna jag köpte på loppis för inte så längesedan och en gräddkanna från Green Gate.

I put up some pastel coloured things on my plate shelf, like the dessert bowls I recently bought in a thrift store and a cream pitcher from Green Gate.

Julgardinerna är borta och på bordet ligger en blommig duk.

Christmas curtains are gone and on the table lays a cross stitched cloth with flowers on.

I fönstret är julstjärnorna är utbytta mot rosa blommor.

Christmas flowers are replaced by pink ones.

Igår var jag på plantagen och köpte blomjord och kunde inte motstå små penseer. Visst går de att ha inomhus också?

I went to the garden market yesterday to buy pot soil and couldn't resist theese cute pansies. I beleive they is nice to have indoors as well.

De blev perfekta att trycka ner i zinkkonerna, jag har bara virat om lite plastfolie om jorden.

They turned out really nice in my zinc cones, I just vrapped the soil with some plastic foil first.

Sen måste jag erkänna att jag är lite ambivalent när det gäller vintern. Solen lyser och snön smälter men ändå vill jag hålla kvar den här vintern lite till. Jag har ju precis köpt skidor till mig och killarna (det är Oskar som är där borta på krönet).

But I feel a bit ambivalent about the winter. The sun is shining and the snow is melting but I actually would like it to last a little longer. I just bought skiis for me an the boys (it's Oskar on top of the hill barely visible).

Ja som ni ser jag var lite väl optimistisk idag. Oskar säger att han ska åka imorgon också. Det var betydligt bättre spår inne i skogen men därifrån har jag ingen bild.

As you can see, I am very optimistic but Oskar said he wanted to go tomorrow as well. It was far better tracks in the forest but I don't have a picture to show from there.

Det var ju sisådär 15 år sedan jag stod på längdskidor sist. Jag ramlade liksom i varenda nedförsbacke (jag är lite mer van med slalomskidor) så jag kommer att ha en saftig lårkaka ikväll.


I can tell you it is merely 15 years ago I tried cross country skiing. I fell in every slope ( I'm more used with downhill skiing) so I will get a huge bruise on my thigh tonight. 

Cone christmas thingy

Äntligen har min jul o natur-dekoration fått sin rätta plats. Jag har faktiskt sparat den i flera år och lagt den försiktigt ner i en låda när julen är slut. Den behövde en kritvit vägg för att komma till sin rätt och det har vi i köket.

At last my nature and christmas decoration found it's right place. I've actually saved it in several years, put it carefully away in a box every year after christmas. It needed a clear white wall to look at it's best, and that is our kitchen wall.

Det är lite kottar i olika material och form, det saknas alkottar men det finns i närheten att plocka o lägga till. Ha en fortsatt fin vecka.

First of advent

Så här ser årets adventsljustake ut. Jag har plockat mossa i skogen och använt gamla märkband med röda bokstäver. Siffrorna gjorde jag för jättelängesen. Brickan som allt står på köptes i somras på en loppis.

This is how this years advent candles looks like. I picked moss from the forest and an old letter ribbon. The numbers I made several years ago and the tray it stands on was bought this summer on a flea market.

Eftersom min svärmor går och väntar på operationstid som kan infalla närsomhelst så kom hon förbi en sväng igår för att fira min födelsedag i förskott. Hon hade med sig en ny lyxig strykbräda, supernödvändigt här hemma och så denna finaste gamla kakburken jag sett med tomtar på.

Since my mother in law are unsure about when she will have her surgery she came last evening to celebrate my birthday she had bought me an ironing bench (very useful) and the world cutest old tin box with santas on.

Den var proppfull med, tadaa, pariservåfflor! De smakar hundra gånger bättre än de jag åt som barn varje gång jag var på kondis. Gissa om jag blev glad!

It was brim full of frech waffles!!! Guess who was happy? And these tastes even better than those I ate as a child  every time we went to a patisserie.

Herregud, jag har ätit alldeles för många redan!!!
