The River

Last week was spent on the Frio River in Texas.....

Our son and his wife....

 My husband and our son....

All of these shots were taken at Garner State Park.... beautiful place.....

The following pictures were taken at the house we rented on the river....

 .....soooo many pecan trees........

 looking across the street...

..looking back toward the ranch house we stayed in........

Kept the granddog on the leash when I was out alone with him...
didn't want to have to deal with him chasing off after the deer...

and he and the cows across the road enjoyed one another...
I think they thought he was a funny looking cow and he certainly did think
he wanted to join their herd....

DH fished for HOURS off the back patio area.......

Nice to get away..........
but good to be home!

Sunflowers

I was going to do a Wordless Wednesday.....

but it's hard for me to not tell you that I saw

fields and fields and fields

of

Sunflowers

between Houston and Fort Worth

this week!

(a little road trip with my sister)

This and several photos I took that look pretty much like this....
were taken with my phone camera....
so not all that great....

But they are incredible........
fields of yellow!

Soooooooo..... does anyone know about raising sunflowers?
Some fields looked wilted and I wondered if they were growing them for seeds?

I just wanted to stop and cut me some flowers....
but I am pretty sure I might've gotten shot.

Gorgeous!
Have you seen these?
I've made this trip many times but I think I've always missed this particular week of sunflowers!

Butterflies amidst the smoke

... working on potential wall art for grandbaby's room....
inspired by Margaret....

I tend to do browns and neutrals.... so working in nursery colors is a stretch for me...
Please continue to pray for Texas.... our drought... the heat has gotten better.... but the fires are raging..
most of these shots were lifted from the internet and are from the Magnolia Fire... close to Houston...

 God bless the firemen....

Deep in the Heart of Texas

....I've been absent a few days... went to a friend's ranchland...
My husband is holding my wine while I take pictures....
but you know we won't let him claim that...
So..... last week, I looked up the schedule for the next
stagecoach heading west....
Packed our bags and departed for the lands west of San Antonio....
I might add that it was VERRRRY windy and thus the new hairstyle!
and left my boots packed for dancing.... didn't want to get them dusty...
..... you can't really complain about your stagecoach, but this one was a little dusty.... saw lots of turkeys...
and we all headed to the local watering hole...
I should've taken more animal shots...
I mean pictures...
(they don't like the word shots)
when we left I turned and took a picture out the back of the stagecoach...
I must say that the blasted moon was so bright all week,
you could hardly see the "stars at night"
deep in the heart of Texas.
...above is from my front yard last night...
Spring Break is over.

Texas Bluebonnets!

Jumped out of the car this morning and took these photos a few blocks from my house! (at a church) It's that time of year when the wildflowers are blooming their little heads off here!
It's gorgeous .... makes ya wanna drive somewhere just to see it all!

Small towns in Texas and other stuff

Today I got a lovely envie from Nathalie. She knows I love library cards. Do you know what she said to me? "I'm surprised you wanted more of these. What have you made with them?" As if I have to make something! Does she not understand that I just want to possess all of the library cards I can? We went to my BFF Melinda's mother's funeral in Waco this week.
We made a few stops on the way home.
We stopped in College Station, Texas for lunch yesterday.... at Rudy's barbecue... a place we like to frequent when in CS.
Normally when we are there the place is packed because it's football weekend or at least a Saturday. This was around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The Aggies have a little song they sing that refers to sawed-off horns.

This a barn we passed somewhere between Waco and College Station... this is also an Aggie reference.

We stopped in Calvert to antique shop (because I didn't make DH take me back into Waco to go to Bloom and Bee Swanky).
Unfortunately most of the shops are closed during the week. There were a couple open and I did contribute to their economy.
We also stopped in Bremond, TX to check on things.... my mother-in-law is buried here. I love old cemeteries... I took a lot of pictures.
P.S. I removed the word verification on comments... that should help with problems leaving comments! I didn't know I could remove them until I visited HELP!
